Umh, nothing official anyway for Flamini ...
But he would be the first BIG recruie of the club, because he's a very strong player, with a lot of potential (if he comes, I'm sure he would be often on the bench at start of the season, playing the matches against small teams to replace Gattuso/Ambro and at the end of the season, he would have become a real starter).

If it's true, it should be one of the most amazing mercatos for us since a while !!

The only wrench in these plans are Galliani´s announcements to the shareholders of Milan that we are 25M pounds in the red...probably down to us not getting further in the UCL this term.

So, with us in this poor financial position (poor of course is relative, as Inter are way more in debt, yet spend ridiculous amounts of money every mercato), dont get too carried away with the rumors of aquisitions, as Berlu has been trying, (and doing a good job of it IMO) to balance the books...and its not good news when the Prime Minister´s club is in debt, and then seems to be spending rashly.

Lets see if this was just Galliani´s way of putting pressure on the shareholders/investors to pump more money into the mercato coffers, or to get them to stump of that 25M...

The shareholders own a 0.5 %. Berlusconi owns 95.5 %. They can't do nothing for us.

According to gazzetta Milan are favorites for every single player in the world.
Why is that Giovanni ? (i'm serious)

According to the English press today, Juve are number 1 favorites for Flamini, but what i find more important is another info from the english press, and that's Arsenal's increased wage offer for Flamini.

I said it 1 month ago and i still think that Flamini will stay in Arsenal.

I don't rely in any english source in particular. When they write about italian things they generally fall into two errors: use stereotypes or are a couple of days late on news. I think Gazzetta has a point because Milan can offer Flamini a bigger wage. Juve has a strict balance, because Agnelli/Elkann family is strict about financing Juve and because Juve is quoted at the stock exchange (which means they must administrate the club by strict standards and can't break the wage roof).

But then we can't ignore the quote of Gigli can we? Nor can we ignore recent comments from Arsenal (a few people high up in Arsenal, including Arsene have publicly doubted Flamini signing a new contract). In addition to that, the English press are much worse than Italian, so I wouldn't bother reading much into them.

£24 million in the red! Maybe this fact will keep quiet all those people who constantly say we can buy anyone we want, berlusconi can pump limitless amounts of money into the club and that we're fine financially.

I'm not talking about Flamini as a separate case. I was talking in general.
For almost 3 years i've been reading Gazzetta and following the mercato (we all followed the last 2 mercato's here together) and i can now confidently say that Gazzetta are always saying how Milan are the #1 favs to sign player X or player Y.
If we trusted Gazzetta, at least 20 world class players would have signed for Milan, only in last 3 years, and apart from Pato none of them signed for Milan. And Gazzetta were pretty sure about most of them.

As respectable as Gazzetta is and as much as i enjoy reading them, they are becomming like Tuttosport. According to Tuttosport every single player wants Juve, according to Gazzetta every single player wants Milan.
It looks to me that Gazzetta is only saying what most of it's readers want to hear.
But i wonder if that's the reason why they are so pro-Milan or is there something else and i thought you as an Italian might know more.

As for Flamini, i'm aware that Juve can't compete with Milan for Ronaldinho or some other star with high wages, but Flamini's wages can be easily paid.
If Flamini earns 4m eur per year, then for 5 years it means that 20m eur will have to be payed. Add the taxes and it's cca 40m eur for 5 years.
Only for Tiago's wages Juve will have to pay 30m eur (tax included) in next 5 years. Add the money from Tiago's sale and you get the 40m eur.

That's not the problem tho. There is a certain hierarchy in Juve and Milan about the wages.
Milan can offer him 4m but that way he'll get the same wages, or even more than what Pirlo, Nesta, Gattuso earn.
Juve can also give him 4m eur but then he'll be among the top 5 paid players, with only Del Piero, Trezeguet and Buffon earning more than him.

That's why i have my doubts that Milan or Juve will offer him such high wages. But since he's a free transfer everything can happen.

It is just my feeling Dev that Flamini will stay in Arsenal. It doesn't have much to do with what the English press says.
I'm aware that Gigli said how Juve are close to Flamini, i'm aware that even people from Arsenal said how things are becomming more and more complicated and how Flamini may easily leave.
But for some reason i still see them reaching a deal.

Interesting this quote from a Barca director or somesuch:
(channel4: http://www.channel4.com/sport/footba...ia/apr25q.html)
Quote:
There is the threat Ronaldinho will invoke FIFA’s Article 17, effectively freeing him from his contract for just over £10m.

“Milan will not resort to such an extreme measure, as it would spark a dangerous chain reaction through Europe’s most important clubs.”
Easy for him to say...I mean really...of all the big clubs, I think Milan are the best positioned to take advantage of this rule, should the precedent set by our "coercion" of R10 to use this extreme measure start some sort of "Bosman" effect, I see few players wanting "out" of Milan so badly now, and in the near future, for this to have any real implications for us.

Athough one never knows what will happen when u set off an avalanche...
