That is not the purpose of the thread at all. Just a little bit of fun, with a somewhat serious undercurrent. We have all fell victim to unreasonable enthusiasm at one time or another, so we are laughing at ourselves, but also remembering (with the use of pertinent examples) that all that seems to glitter is not gold.

Great thread, Rio. If you looked back at the Milan of the 90's we'd find plenty of examples: Ba, Ngotty, Commandini, Jose Mari, Lehmann, etc..

But today, we need look no further than Real Madrid: Marcelo (what's happened to all the hype about the being the next Roberto Carlos), Gago (the next Redondo? I think not), Higuain (spends more time on bench than on pitch), Diarra (definitely not worth the price they paid for him), Robben (not worth it for a handful of good games per year), Saviola (we were YEARNING for him back in his River Plate days).
