Milan Set For €48m Cech Offer
AC Milan are set to make a €48m offer for Cheslea goalkeeper Petr Cech, according to reports in Italy.

With Nelson Dida seemingly set to be released on a free transfer, and doubts still remaining over the ability of Zeljko Kalac, Milan have identified the signing of a new goalkeeper as their primary transfer target this summer.

A host of names have been linked with a move to San Siro, most notably Fiorentina’s Sebastien Frey, Celtic’s Artur Boruc, and PSV Eindoven’s Heurelho Gomes.

Latest reports in Italy suggest that Milan are now set to table a huge offer to Chelsea for Czech shot-stopper Petr Cech. Last week, Cech’s agent Pavel Zika, told Czech newspaper Pravo that a big European club were ready invest heavily in his client.

Zika said: "I know quite a large European club is ready to pay over 30 million euros for Petr Cech. It is an important sum for a goalkeeper. At the end of the season, we will consider the current contract of Petr and see whether we can improve it."

While many believe that these statements were intended as a bargaining chip into contract negations, reports in Italy insist that Milan are serious about signing Cech.

The 25-year-old, who has won 56 caps for his country, is widely regarded as one of the best goalkeepers in the world.

Milan are considering the option of replacing the departing Serginho with Udinese full-back Andrea Dossena, according to reports.

The veteran Brazilian, 36, ended his Rossoneri career on Sunday after nine years with the outfit and the club are looking for a similar flying wing-back.

Dossena could be that man after his sensational campaign at the Friuli saw him win international recognition and the interest of Liverpool.

Some reports in Italy on Wednesday are suggesting that Milan sporting director Ariedo Braida has discussed the player with Udinese counterpart Pietro Leonardi.

Talks are set to continue between both parties, but the feeling is that an agreement could be imminent.

Udinese, who have a reputation for unearthing talents, signed the 26-year-old from Treviso in the summer of 2006.

Dossena, whose only previous club was Verona, will probably be replaced in Friuli by Paolo Castellini after Parma were relegated on Sunday.

Juventus and Roma have also been tentatively associated with the versatile Dossena

Cech's best days are past him even at this age. He has never been the same since his head collision and his well publicised blunders have proven this, his nervousnes on crosses add to a below average keeper who not long ago was one of the best. sorry lads but hes finished.

id like to add this will be a typical milan transfer campaign, "freebies and pensioners" the signs have already materialised, flamini(great signing by the way) and zambro good player in his day but well past it as u may have seen in these euros. its true we will be linked to all the big names, but in the end our friend galliani will say, too expensive(as with arthur boruc who is excellent). we may end up with the likes of has beens such as edwin van de sar, Thuram, and other of the freebie/pensioner category,
i hate to say it but i can see through all the rhetoric now about bringing new players by galliani and others, they want the modern day maradonas for peanuts and it wont happen. Weve already lost Amauri, Amelia, Hugo Lloris, and looks like we will loose the rest. Until Milan dont start splashing out we can only expect an average team with an average age of 32.
