Age doesn't really matter, games he played does. A goalie that's 28 but was an understudy for 10 years is less experienced than a 21 year old that has 4 years of experience of being first keeper. Besides Valdez, Casillias were also pretty young and had less experience when they started. If the management have faith in him then they should give him a chance if not then there is no point in signing him at all (Unless if we loan him back for 2 years of something).

Don't worry, Lloris would be a great addition, more than Boruc I think, simply because, how can he do worst than both Dida and Kalac (despite his good performances this year, he never was and probably will never be a top player).

And I'm not sure that Frey is really better than Lloris !! Maybe a bit because he is older, but Lloris should be one step higher than Frey in some years ...

More difficulties on Lloris deal, Looks like Milan have agreed personal terms with lloris , but at the last hour, bordeux joined the race to raise the bid to 8 mil euro... now its all up to milan

And again, people speak before anything official ...

Lloris seems to be awaited in Lyon to sign a contract, but the fact is he came to Milan and agreed with us (anyway he came to visit the club and speak with some of our management), he came to Bordeaux to visit too and speak with some of their management, he didn't do that with Lyon yet.

About Coupet, he's going to Tottenham.

If we really lose Lloris, the best targets would be:
- Buffon (impossible)
- Cech (too expensive)
- Frey
- Amelia
- What about Carrizo ?

And once again, our management lost out a bright young star for cheap because they are too cheap to pay for it. Good God, it was 8 million euros! We are one of the richest clubs in the world and we couldn't even pay for that! Doesn't this management ever have a plan for the mercato? I mean, you are supposed to narrow down to a few targets and sign those targets as soon as you can. But instead, we look around and say "well, we have so many different options, there is no need to hurry. One of them has to be sold for cheap to us, right?" And then we spend months "negotiating" with every single one of them only to lose out on all of them because they are "too expensive" for us and we have "other options". Well done, Galliani, if you fail this summer, you better start running for the hills.

Boring comment ... especially when it shows that you don't read other people posts which sucks on a forum !!

Milan can offer 8M €, and I'm pretty sure that the offer has been sent, it's just that all is not in our hands: if Lloris thinks he isn't ready for a big championship or if he's afraid to be a Milan player or if he thinks it's better for him to still play in France and be in Lyon or anything else, what can we do else ?!
You're not going to cut his hands to sign (especially for a GK ...) ?!

That's a big IF that if is true I guess everybody doesn't want to come to Milan like Galiani and Berlu think.

His comment may be boring...and maybe in the case of Lloris things were not totally in our hands, but his comment is dead on regarding the handling of recent transfer markets.

Management talk and talk and talk and talk and talk some more and then very little is accomplished in the end. If they were half as good in completing a deal as they are in talking, we'd have finshed all our summer signings by now.

I don't want them to spend money like Chelsea, or be like Real Madrid. What I want in a summer transfer market is for them to accomplish something substancial.
Name a target, go after him, and get him!!! Don't talk about it be about it!!

Why does it take months of talking to get something accomplished. Transfer windows are like a woman in labour for 2 and half months.

Management have mis-handled recent transfer markets to such an extent that this year we ended up out of the Coppa Italia (Catania) out of the CL in historic fashion and out 4th in the League. We were talking about catching fourth like we were catching a scudetto. We got our asses handed to us this year.

Now heading in to this (past) year did manangement really think that we actually had enough pieces and were active enough in the transfer market to contend for even one cup. Milan is my team, but I didn't buy it for one second. And people were defending management like their infaliable.
Well we've clearly seen this year that they're not.

Management has to accept a MASSIVE part of the blame for this season and in my opinion it started in past two summer transfer window and I'm starting to see the same pattern this year. A whole bunch of names but nothing doing.

So Galiani, Braida and Milan management I really hope that you boys can get it right this year. Don't speak this year we know what you sound like.

I have no problem reading the same boring post like slifersd's as long as we get the same boring result in our transfer markets.

Get things done so we can start knocking out the competition.

Forza Milan

Good point by both parties. My only counterargument against Mr. Anonymous (and btw, you are totally right about the horrible transfer done by the management in recent years) :

Geotev is arguing that slifersd is putting too much faith in the newspaper or media's report. In fact, Milan may not have decided to go for the youngstars but the media portray that we are pursuing him (how many times has it happened?); media misinterpreted the management's comments, written something that is not meant to be (but perhaps want to be).

So for example, how many times have you seen news from goal.com that such and such time is going to trade Kaka` with so-and-so-with-cash? And btw, we didn't seem to cherish the fact that the management has done well to keep Kaka`, preventing Milan to become yet another Barcelona?

Second, I don't know what's the real effect of talking in front of the public about "Milan will sign who, who, or who". Does it have any effects on the player? Is it a game plan to get a lower price? Can it be a smokescreen that the management puts up in order to distract the public's attention so that they don't know who Milan is really buying?

Finally, we couldn't judge whether Milan is doing badly in the transfer in terms of getting the trasnfer we want. Getting the RIGHT target is one thing and getting THE target is yet another. Milan has thus far been awful at getting the right target (except most notably Kaka`, Pato, the everyone-thought-he-is-great Gila, and I would count Oddo and Janku who conributed to our success in CL and supercup etc. last year but have been in dismal form in the league), but whether they have GOTTEN their target is another thing that we probably know little of.

Cheers - j

That was very observant of you as I didn't actually read many posts in this particular thread. But I think it should be pointed out that the reason you are offering here doesn't sound very logical to me. Look, Lloris has been in contact with Milan for a while now, and one would have to assume that he started thinking about life in Milan for quite sometime now. Now IF as you said he had doubts and problems with moving to Italy and play for Milan, he probably would've made it clear to us before. And yet, he maintained contact with us, and even traveled here for a medical with us. He was all but ready to get things done until somebody made a better offer.

Milan can indeed offer 8 million, but they didn't, don't and will not offer it to Nice. When somebody made a better offer to Nice and possibly to the player, Milan management decided to back out as they always do. That is why we missed out on yet another fantastic player. Now granted, Lloris may not be 100% sure about this move to begin with, but the move was all but done for quite sometime. That is, of course, before somebody made a better offer; before we wanted to wait to get rid of the garbage they signed over the years as our GKs; and before Abbiatti's agent started whining about how Abbiatti won't come back to play backup to Lloris. As usual, our management went for the cheap option in Abbiatti and refused to raise the price even a little to get the deal done. And that is why we are in this situation right now. Lloris didn't make this deal collapse, Milan did.

The facts are that we don't know anything except what medias want to say ... so we know nothing !!
Lloris is a smart guy, and wanting to think about his future is something that every player would have to do instead of signing for the biggest ...

You talk about Abbiati: he's going to Palermo, apparely it is official. So our management didn't count on our "cheap option".

We are Milan, everybody would like to play here (or almost), BUT you can't forget things, especially in France:
- Dugarry lol, JPP, Dhorasso, a failure
- Gourcuff, young promising talent, a failure and a move back in France (probably)

And you know what is said now when there are reports about Milan wanting a young French player (Nasri, Benzema some months ago, Ben Arfa, Menez, now Lloris) ? Because of what has happened with Gourcuff, everybody in medias says "My advice, go in Lyon or Bordeaux instead of Milan", of course, all people in France now prefer their players to move in France instead of going abroad and be killed (I mean in football lol) ... that happened many times with 16-17yo guys going to Liverpool too for example and who only play their first professional years in ... France now they are 22-23yo whereas they were the best of their generation.

And so, to come back to Lloris, you want to know the last reports in France ? He said he wasn't going to sign to Lyon today (Aulas ... likes to speak a lot, too much) but will decide and give his decision Thursday, so before saying "we failed with Lloris", just wait to really know where he goes. And if he chooses another club, wait to know if we really wanted him before commenting by "our management failed" ...

That said, I go to the other topic !!

PS: For the "boring" part, sorry, but I don't like when someone posts a comment that is the contrary of the precedent post that was an explanation of the situation (there, it was one from me, I'm French, so I think I'm more aware about what happens with Lloris, but that could be an explanation from someone else, it would be the same thing, it's a forum, so we have time to read and then to post, if we only post without reading, let's create a personal blog).

Point taken. I didn't read much in this thread because I thought Lloris was ours for the taken and there was no point of getting any more updates on the situation. It was my fault and I will keep that in mind the next time.

As far as the Lloris saga goes, I guess we will have to wait until the decision is final to see what the deal is here. My main problem isn't necessarily with this one particular deal. Lloris is a great young player, but even I wasn't sure he would've been able to be our first choice by next year. The thing is, our management needs to focus on the right targets instead of looking around all the time and let great opportunities pass us by. Until that problem is addressed, we are going to have one after another rough mercatos.
