U basically proved my point....no major transfers have taken place yet, but plenty of rumors abound...

That we r linked with Vargas, Zapata and Quaglir...whatever his name is, should calm u down a bit...if not, I will go ahead and prepare ur usual order, or should I double it Sir Dru?

Simple, Siregar. Because if you look at the way Milan manages his players and the club in general, you'll understand why.

Buying the super-star won't solve the situation; Chelsea and Real Madrid has already shown us that.

Nor is the management doing a great job in buying the RIGHT player, but at least we have some successful purchase in the past few years (and many failed).

We all are short-sighted: We forgot about Pirlo, Seedorf, (once for a while Simic), Nesta, Kaka` etc...

and we tend to lament: Ba (what?! you think we really going to play him? He is now a scout for Milan isn't he?), Emerson, R99 (oh wait, one person didn't lament about him ), Brocchi (who btw did so well at Florence last year and people asked to have him back), etc.

It's like the stock market. When the price of the stock goes up, everyone is so happy; then when the price goes down (but still higher than what it initially was), everyone was crying that the sky is falling.

Some of us are expecting the management to be the superman.

The fact is: you make mistake, I make mistake, they make mistake. We all make mistake. But it seems that Milan has made mistakes in such a way that has earned us two Champion League in the final.

That, is something a lot of us don't see.

Re: Torres et al., I think Zlat has a valid point about playing in a different league; I'm not sure Serie A is the most superior, but I"m definitely positive that being successful in one league is not a guarantee a success in another league.

You want an example? See which superstar we sold to Chelsea and what he turned out now.

And you telling me league doesn't matter?

Question: What if we sign Torres or someone you highly rate and he is a complete flop? Or his style simply doesn't suit Milan?

You want an example again? How about ... well he is in Brazil now recovering. He is very good and suited us very well actually; but didn't the Milan management has trusted in him and now what? getting into some stupid news about sex scandal and, with so much trust put into him, only got injured again for 9 months, and got bad into shape as well?

Or you want another example? The all-so-hated Gilardino: We made him a complete flop. Now that he is going to Fiorentina, I hope he is going to be as floppy as now, because otherwise it's shown (again?) that Milan management has bought the wrong player. I honestly pray that Gilardino is really a flop.

***

What I"m trying to conclude here is:

1) Some see one side of the coin, some see another side of the coin.
2) Don't disrespect other posters who see the other side of the coin.
3) Don't be arrogant about your list: Show us how he has really earned a starting place in Milan. Com'on, even Gilardino earned it by scoring like 24goals per season twice. Or R99 for his past achievement. Naming someone unknown and says that, 'he scores 90 goals in Hong Kong league' virtually means nothing.

***

@dru: Honest question: If pique is so good off the bench, why isn't he played more frequently when Man U is playing on all front? surely Ferguson won't be as oldminded as our mister Ancelotti ?

@Warro:

You ask for a list (not from me, but I realize I never put up one):

1) GK: Buffon, but now impossible. Very difficult to see who can replace Dida/Kalac. I would rather go for Boruc from Celtic; he has experiences in CL and he is GOOD, really. Otherwise the young dude will also work, but I'll be a bit skeptical.

2) DF: Zambrotta is perfect. I really have no idea about DF.

3) MF: Flamini is a good signing, though I would rather see him another season in action. Afterall, he only did great this year. Again, I have no opinion about MF.

4) AMC: Bring on Ronaldinho. Seedorf-Ronaldinho-Kaka rotation (i.e., not all three of them play) will be fantastic and what is needed to fight for both Scudetto and CL in the future.

If not Ronaldinho? Ballack will be my pick. He is strong in the air, something that Milan lacks. He can shoot from afar, and is creative. I think Milan should have signed him really.

5) FC: Eto'o or Drogba. No one else qualifies. Drogba can shoot from nowhere and scored all of a sudden; of course his passing is poor but hey, let's not criticize other when we have an Inzaghi. Eto'o can also add speed and that will be important too.

I think Drogba - Pato - Kaka will be a fantastic trio.

The mercato is really as simple as that. Some says Drogba is old: For God sake he can really shoot even in small spaces, and is great in the air, something MILAN IS JUST LACKING especially in the Scudetto race when we have NO ONE to head the ball in except Ambrosini!

More than welcome to see your responses to my list...
- CF

First of all, no one can score 90 goals in one season, but a scroing record as emphatic as that should impress anyone, no matter what league, and i take this as you are pointing out Huntelaar, well i dont care about anyone else opinion, but i would love to have him in milan, if we were to buy him, that doesnt mean, he will be the only striker, but he is a great goal scorer, and if you think he can only score in the dutch league, well look at his international figures, he is quite impressive, and i would definitely prefer him to boriello and amauri.

i understand your opinion on ballack, as i have alot of respect for him, but he is on the older side of the spectrum, and would be very expensive due to his more recent performances in Chelsea, however their are more AM, that could work, instead of ballack, and #1 on my list is Moutinho, then Nasri, Van Der Vaart, Diego, etc, however apart from JM28, i dont see any of them being able to play with Kaka IMO. why Moutinho, great passer, young, leadership capapbilities, creates for others, and can score if necessary, AKA "RUI COSTA the 2nd" I would still consider him if we got R10, and with the use of grimi, he can be reletively cheap.

dont agree with you here, eto and drogba are two good strikers, eto, being better, but to say that the are the only ones, i think not, if Benzema was on the market he would be great, Adebayor would be good also, Gomez, Elmander to some extent, are just a few. even Ben Arfa.

Either you are a great talent or you don't yet cut it. We are talking about one of the biggest clubs in the world and coming to them after having sat on the bench most of last season. Gourcuff for example was a starter before he came to us. It is far from certain in most cases. I can think of loads of young defenders that I personally think is better.

Isn't it a bit unfair to mention just three really great players as examples? Besides, who knows how they would have done if they moved here instead.

Excellent, balanced post on all counts Jeff, even if I dont think you understood the point of that list...I asked him for the names of 5 players or thereabouts, who are Milan quality, who have already been transfered since the seasons ended in Europe.

1) Not really referring to Huntelaar; he was never in my sight. I was just using an analog. Your argument is fair enough; What I"m saying is that you need to have shown some consistencies in a high-level league in order to earn a place in Milan.

And that's why I said I'm not sure about Flamini later on...

2) Perhaps; I'm no big master. I would prefer VDV among your choice. Perhaps Moutinho, but i have no knowledge of him so I can't counteract your point.

3) Yes I miss Benzema. Not sure about Adebayor; he is not as clinical as I once thought (after seeing him in playing against Arsenal).

Also, remember that we want someone who can score in big time, NOT someone that we call complain alot: Gilardino. Can Adebayor do it in crunch time? Those are the types of players we REALLY need in the long run; we don't need those who play well in domestic league and only to be a flop in Europe (i.e., Gilardino).

That is, of course, very difficult to judge. Even Pato hasn't proven himself in CL with this respect...

Cheers - J

ports daily Record says José Mourinho does not plan to bring Deco with him to Inter Milan

however Quaresma is first on Mourinho shopping list.

Not a single one, Warro. Those are hot prospect that, alas, may well turn into flop (Gilardino's failure still hurts me as a fan to see him flop so badly).

But then, even the proven is no longer the reliable (e.g., Sheva, R99, and soon-to-be R10? etc.)

Mourinho coming to Inter would be the most scariest news of this transfer season for us and other top teams. We will have some really tough time playing against his Inter. Right now, the only thing Inter lack (from my POV) is discipline and Mourinho is a champion in making a team disciplined. We must sign great players before we lose them. We can certainly forget about signing Drogba since he has fatherly love towards Mou (I mean who would cry if a coach like Mou left your team). Also, we must sign Sheva so that he will have the incentive to prove himself against Mourinho

This may be a good news for the league because he would sign great players and his charisma (or p!gheadedness) would certainly bring the league in spotlight.

WOULD EVERYBODY PLEASE STOP TALKING ABOUT "PLAYER X" BEING OR NOT BEING MILAN MATERIAL

What IS Milan material?? The best of the best? Have WE GOTTEN SO ARROGANT because of our previous successes that we have suddenly become too lofty to approach???

Wanna talk Milan Material? Let's examine OUR present SQUAD. There are only THREE (3) players that ARE Milan MATERIAL :Kaka, Pirlo, Nesta

In response to Warro's list I will now NAME THREE PLAYERS IN EACH POSITION THAT ARE MUCH SUPERIOR to the the players we have at present (no disrespect to any of them):

DIDA
Buffon, Cassilas, Cech

KALA
Alex, Ferdinand, Vidic

JANKU
Evra, Cole, Marcello

ODDO
Alves, Ramos, Maicon

Gattuso
Essien, Vieria, Cambiasso

Pirlo
Fabregas, Gerrard, Anderson

Seedorf (in a wide position)
Ribery, Quaresma, Figo

Seedorf (CAM)
Totti, Diego, Ronaldinho

Inzaghi
Drogba, Eto'o, Torres

Of course it's far too easy to continue the list for the likes of Gila, R99 ( it's true ), Simic, Ambro (all due respect), Flamini Digao etc etc

So again I ask you "What IS Milan Material"? To me the phrase has now become vacuous since the departure of Crespo, Sheva, Cafu, Stam, Maldini, Rivaldo, JDT, Rui

I think you mistunderstood me Jeff. What I meant that why we haven't signed any player who is not WC player or super star?

I do think, that we also need some unknown players (not-yet WC players/superstars) for our backups as ourbackups are not so good. But in this case, Milan haven't signed anyone except Flamini (of couse he is already very well known) whom Milan had to sign him very soon otherwise other club would sign him.

I understand, it needs time to accomplish the signing of big names. And we still have much time to buy all players we want but IMO at least we should buy those players I mention above in this stage so we don't have to rush in July or August to complete all our transfers.
