Gila was not to be next Sheva as he came to make partnership with Sheva upfront. Oliviera was a mistake but we were so desperete to look for a striker and the time of summer transfer was going to end.

Yes, he is a good player that i won't mind having in Milan but the pricetag is really too much. I would prefer we spending the money on someone else.

If I am not mistaken, Tony rated Nocerino very highly in one thread (along with Giovinco).

If Nocerino is how Tony rated him, I think Milan would never give Nocerino plus money only to get Amauri (whom I think overrated. It sounds that he is in same level with Drogba, Eto'o etc.)

Don't have to be careful. Just need to be consistent haha .

Sure, he didn't become a top scorer in the league, but he was still very consistent. How many players score over 13 goals 4 years in a row? Certainly not Gilardino. Besides his scoring record, you also have to see how he has matured over the years in Spain. He has become a much better player skillwise and the fact that he didn't score more could be attributed to several different factors such as the level of play of the rest of his team.

Besides, I wasn't talking about his time in Atletico Madrid justifying his price. As I said, I also thought his price was a little high when he transfered too. But his performance in Liverpool justified his price. He had an impressive scoring record and he provided them with a reliable attacking options up front, something they have been missing since Owen left. 30 million euros sounds like a lot of money, but when you can get someone who can completely transform your attack, it is well worth it. After all, we spent 40 million to replace Shevchenko (Gilardino and Oliveira) and now we still have to spend more to get the job done.
You better go and check Gilardino scoring record again before commenting.

Gila scored 23 goals in 2003/04, 23 goals in 2004/05 for parma. So we went for him. He came out with 17 goals in 2005/06, 12 goals in 2006/07, 7 goals in 2007/08.

Even a off-form gila has a comparable scoring record with Torres except last season when gila play lesser. Its so damn easy to get 12-13 goals even for a off-form gila.

As the main attacker in a team, we should be looking at 20 goals a season.

Gomez would suit us just fine. He look physically strong, would be a good partner for Pato.

FYI:

Parma 03 - 04: 23goals
Parma 04 - 05: 23goals
Milan 05 - 06: 17goals
Milan 06 - 07: 12goals
MIlan 07 - 08: 7goals

I don't have total playing time available.

That's why I said previously I don't know if this is Gilardino's problem or is it whether Ancelotti sets the team up based on Kaka, reducing virtually everyone's goal in the attacking department.

FYI:
Shevchenko:
Milan 03 - 04: 24goals
Milan 04 - 05: 17goals
Milan 05 - 06: 17goals

Kaka:
Milan 03 - 04: 10goals
Milan 04 - 05: 7 goals
Milan 05 - 06: 14goals
Milan 06 - 07: 8goals
Milan 07 - 08: 15goals

Gilardino took penalty at Parma while he never did at Milan in his first season. If you think about that, you figure that he'll score more than 20goals easily in his first season.

And people crying that Gilardino is not good enough in terms of scoring.

Honestly, the stats seem to suggest otherwise. This shows three things:

1) People who claim that he has three years to prove himself but did not is b***s*** because he did just equally in the first year. Shevchenko took most of the penalty and thus scored the same number of goals as Gilardino. If we are to criticize anyone that season, it has to be Shevchenko.

2) Gilardino just became worse all of a sudden for the past two years. You figure out why.

3) OR: Gilardino simply is NOT good enough, all of a sudden.

You figure the reasons out yourself. My conclusion is that he no longer fits with Milan's system. Ever since MIlan sold Shevchenko, have we really found a good replacement for him? Pato? Too young and not enough experience. R99? Injured and injured... Oliveria? Com'on....

We have this debate for almost three years. Wait, in fact no one criticizes him in the first year; only when Milan played horribly for the past two seasons that people begin to pick on him. Whatever, we have already sold him so there is no point in looking back.

I would just HATE it if Gilardino started scoring like 20goals per season again. That is a total slap in Milan's management face AND probably Ancelotti's face. I honestly pray that it won't happen (i.e., I hope Gila flop at Fio too).

If that indeed happen in the future, I will be the first to vote to show Ancelotti the door.

IN FACT, that may have already happened once (Borriello), or twice (Gourcuff), or even thrice in the future (Gilardino).

I pray not. I pray not....

I think slifersd is trying very hard to make his "new" views fit into his "old" views. We are talking about Torres before he move to liverpool and he can only tell us he did well in liverpool and cannot justify how we can spend 30+M for his pre-liverpool performances.

A typical case of "cannon behind the horse" as the chinese saying goes, it make me laugh.
