(BTW I am half Spanish/half Italian... most of my family in Spain are Atletico fans).
Like who?

From what I see Milan is having a pretty active transfer season... getting lots of excellent talent (notice: yes I'm using that word "excellent" again, it's my opinion and if you don't agree, I respect you).
Agreed not even Mendietta did well in Italy.....however I'll eat my hat if Fabregas doesn't play well here

I think if we're looking for a World Class or Milan material young goalie...

Well.... I think he's currently playing for Russia right now...

He's only 22... and has at least 15 more years playing at the highest level!!!

Anybody watching Spain - Russia second half? That's how a 5 man midfield is SUPPOSED to work. Their midfielders are so comfortable on the ball that the Russians barely touch it. They all have a high work rate as well and track back. As I type this a beautiful ball is played to David Villa to complete his hat trick. That's real playmaking.

Mystik I agree, but it's Russia not Netheland. I think that's a huge if not significant difference.

The only issue with Italy's midfield is the lack of Ambro and Gattuso's creativity. They are pure destroyer.

You need someone who has both (Flamini?) and at the moment it's not working.

Yes but previous spaniards didnt play well in england etc. I think this current crop of spanish players is different. The more globalized the world comes, the more kids see different styles from a young young age....thus learn to play like it so i think this whole 'spanish cant play in italy etc

I wasn't referring to Italy at all..I was talking more about Milan's excuse for a 5 man midfield that can't even control the game against Empoli...farless some other team. Let's leave Italy for the Euro topic. I maintain that our uncreative midfield is the main reason behind Gila's not so prolific record with us. It's a shame that as he's leaving we're actually changing something up.

Yes, but the two styles are very different. Spanish football is a bit open and very attack oriented.. Italian football is tactical and based on defense and counter attack (not that game yesterday was any indication).

Maybe David Villa would do good in Italy... but it's just the history that kinda concerns me.

Mystik, again this is the transfers thread. Lets not go into that here.

I can do with that. Uncreative. No width. Only Kaka with pace. All these things are not going to help a striker like gila.... or our results

Ok to get back on topic I suggest we get a creative midfielder to help out our midfield if we're gonna play 4-3-2-1 or permanently switch back to 4-3-1-2 or we'll have the same problems as last season.

Well I guess we could talk about that... it's not that its uncreative. We had two creative midfielders, that being Seedorf and Kaka. That's why the 4-5-1 formation has often worked for Milan... but now there is a need for a change I agree. A more attack oriented formation...

I wouldn't call our formation bad... though it could have been better. It worked fine against Inter in that game... which ended 2-1. But the problem with the 4-5-1 Kaka and Seedorf have to be in tip top condition.

I suggest 4-3-1-2 formation...

However he haven't done the best job in augmenting these charracteristics....because we only have TWO very fast players in Pato and and kaka and the only person who is always fit is Gattuso.

Players like those I clamoured for are more in keeping with the demands of the game today

Youth isn't everything. We need to focus on tactics and skills I think.. while mixing in youth (as we are doing with these transfers). But focusing entirely on youth and speed might not get us far either (just ask Arsenal about that one). While we need to re-energize our squad, we have to be careful.

I agree the formation isnt bad. no formation is.... The execution of it is... IE the players. if you play with 5 midfielders and you have kaka, ronaldinho, joao moutinho, pirlo, gattuso its a different different thing. than seedorf, kaka, pirlo, gattuso, ambro

(and i want to emphasize in there current form. Seedorf is a legend and sti a useful player, but he is not the player he was 4-5 years ago. He doesnt have the legs or pace to play 35+ matches a season between all competitions)....we see what happens when pirlo tires...ambro has never been great, although he works hard and does offer something to a squad. and gattuso has lost a step.

what about a

4-2-3-1

with this formation, we would have to get a next AM, as i dont think seedorf, as said earlier, can play many games, in a season. AM-Pato - Kaka, as the three AM's.

i know i have been suggesting moutinho, but what about daniel carvahlo of cska moscow.

he is older than moutinho, and has more xpierence, i dont think he should be expensive, and he is brazilian, and i know galliani likes his brazilians.
