I think overreliance on younger players is a bit dangerous. I think we should aim for players in the 24-30 range if we want to make any more acquirements. And not only that we have a great deal of youth players on loan we should bring back... Davide Di Gennaro is co-owned with Genoa, but one day should come back. Nicola Pozzi and Ignazio Abate are others...

seriosuly!? what overreliance are you talking about? We have pato.... and flamini who is 24 and prime. our line up next year is...

---------pippo (35)--pato (19)----- (Boriello 27)

---------------kaka (26)------------ (seedorf 33)

----ambro (32)-pirlo (30)-Gattuso (31)-- (flamini 24, brocchi 33)

-Zambro (32)-Nesta (33)-Kalatze (31)-Oddo (33) (Janku 32, Bonera 28, maldini 40)

WHAT OVERRELIANCE!?!? we can sign 4-5 young players and still be the oldest team in serie A

i get hesitant on players who are 21+ and cant get recalled to milan. I mean you look at every other major club and they have players that age contributing. occasionally they r star type players like we had w/ kaka or pato is becoming..... but ussually they r more role players coming in.....examples; nani, anderson, aquilani, nocerino, bojan, iniesta, pepe etc etc etc

Abate is the exception.... but i havent seen anything of di gennaro and pozzi that make me think they will be real contributers to milan

Here we go again. Our team, especially our back four is no older than that of Inters or most other teams. By the way Borriello is 25, not 27. And Bonera is 27, not 28. Nesta is 32, Zambrotta is 31.

Take Inter's usual backline... Cordoba is 31, Zanetti is 34, Burdisso is 27, Matercrappy is 34, Samuel is 30 and so forth...

And one other thing, this thread is for acquisitions or rumors of... I haven't seen any of that from you.

That's your opinion. For one Pozzi is emerging as a great talent despite his injury this previous season, and Di Gennaro moved from Bologna where he was superb, over to Genoa... that's a pretty big move for the guy. But neither Di Gennaro, Abate or Pozzi are over 21 I believe.

Dont forget about Mazaroti, he got talents too, too bad we exchanged him to Empoli for Antonini. When it comes to Italian, I would not be surprise if they just suddenly emerge and becomes great, they are late boomers.

i said ages next year....

there lineup this year was

-----------Cruz 33--ibrahimovic 26---

maxwell 26-viera 32-cambiasso 27--zanetti 34

chivu 26--cordoba 32-materazzi 34--maicon 26--

MUCH younger... peticularly on flanks... and it shows w/ maxwell, maicon and chivu killing us. Anyway inter still got KILLEd in champions league cause they were SLOW. and nearly lost scudetto cause of fatigue at end (or basically cause there two prime age work horses... zlatan and cambiasso got hurt).

Zanetti is a freak. He is like maldini. He can play into his mid30s at highform. but thats atypical. Look at materazzi. early 30s for a CB isnt old either. Although they tend to get hurt more and more. like cordoba, samuel and materazzi this year.....we also had bummps and bruises w/ nesta. maldini.....

i stand corrected di gennaro is 20. but he was in Serie B. Abate is 21 turnins 22. Pozzi si 21 approaching 22 as well.

If pozzi was so good we'd consider recalling him over paloschi

and btw i started by posting about abate and adebayor and likelihood of being here next year and then responded a few q's on wage bills.... and mentioned we need to follow w/ a few more players of there age and then you attacked that statement.

I really think its true though, cause aside from us in 2006/2007. Every league winner/champions league winner has featured a majority core of players 22-26 with obvious leadership from some older players. but you need your 24, 25 year old work horses because it is a game where speed and fitness matters....

Much younger? there is nothing about inter that is much younger than our team... Milans median age is going down, not up. Serginho and Cafu were the ones that added a few years to Milan's average age. As far as I'm concerned our team is actually younger than Inters.

And inter killed us lol? the last time we played them we were the ones that defeated them 2-1. We killed them... ripped apart Vieria and Materazzi to pieces on the field... Vieira was especially bad... he's the one that lost the ball for the second goal. The first game earlier in the season against Inter would have ended a 1-1 draw if it was for Dida's huge mistake.

I really don't know what games you were watching, but the last time we played against Inter... if it wasn't for Julio Cesar it could have been 4-1 or 5-1. Julio Cesar is arguably one of the better goalkeepers in the Serie A right now... and I say that swallowing any pride I have.

Di Gennaro is 19, and won't turn 20 until next June. I've looked into it. Abate is incredible, and should come back. Pozzi was on loan and is building up his skills.

Paloschi was an interesting case. He was directly in our youth squad when we needed him and not out on loan. And not only that there are reports he is going to Reggina on loan. Seriously...

like i said... missing cambiasso and ibrahimovic. And yes we did beat them, and it was amazing.... but my actual reference was to league standings they killed us by 21 points. which is a sign of consistancy... something we have lacked last 2 seasons. and something you need to win serie A. i just think some youthful exuberance can help. keep games/minutes down for gattuso. help build for future. i mean what makes more sense than letting them practice learn from our legends, play perhaps in games against bologna, catania... games our older players who have won all clearly show little interest in playing (until we fall down 2-0) and then leave pirlo, nesta more rested to destroy the inters, juves etc

This is the biggest problem. Why we go into the red, and wats wrong w/ our transfer policy. Because you see even if you buy that olderp layer for less. His wage demands are MUCH higher because....well he's proven. Last season we had dida, serginho, cafu, gilardino all earn in 4 mil range for basically nothing. I'm not even going into janku, brocchi, emerson, favalli etc etc who r earning 2+ mil. Then we have our gattuso, maldini, pirlo, kaka who are well over 4 mil a season.

Now look at other teams, even manUtd or lyon or barca with young proven talent (anderson, benzema, iniesta) they arent making NEARLY as much because they are younger.... they will sign larger contracts as they go on... but clearly its a better what to do business.
What is the denomination of the first article? Dollars? Euros? Pounds?

i hope so... paloschi could be like pippo.... although its impossible to match pippos hunger for the game. what other 34 year old who has won champions leagues, world cups, serie a titles (basically you name it) plays w/ that much passion like he has something to prove. its really incredible. And i dont know if we will see it again
