An incredible turnaround from the Turks. My hats off to them and both teams on a great game.

i was hoping Czech Republic to qualify to the next round. but for me lose is a lose. no excuse. great game by both side. my prediction is a bit false when i predicted Portugal will qualify alongside with Czech Republic. but hats off for Turks a deserved win. well done in group A. tonight is Germany to qualify. otherwise it isnt fun anymore to see big clubs falls before go to the next round.

about Cesare's talk, i think it is just too riddiculous if people thinks that someone like Van Basten will do such a behave who will degrade value of sport. when he still a player he was one of the great player and we knew what kind of behave that he had. so instead of a warning from Cesare i rather to take that as a thought for fans that Van Basten wouldnt do such a lame thing even finally if Holland lose to Romania. i dont see that as a threat from Cesare considering good relationship between Van Basten and Milan. beside Donadoni is one of his best friend. i believe in Van Basten

I feel bad for Cech... ever since his major injury he was never the same. I thought that injury he got was career ending... it was surprise to me he came back.

As far as Van Basten... he's a good sport about things and I will hope that Holland defeats Romania, and Italy beats France.

I really want to see Italy beat France with a strong scoreline. It's been a long time since Italy has beaten France with a scoreline, and not having to go to penalty kicks.

The bottom line is this: every team that wins a major trophy needs both merit and a slice of luck. Look at Liverpool in the UCL Final of 2005---you cant possibly tell me they won that cup (esp the final) on merit. Look at Greece 4 years ago. Look at Milan last year in the UCL. HOw about Tomasson's injury time goal against Ajax in 2003.

All the eventual winners have their slice of luck. I just feel that when it's Italy, people like to point fingers and say it's all luck and no merit. The opposite just happened in Italy's last two games, and people are still not giving the team due credit. I still feel that if Italy make it through the first round, they will be a force to be reckoned with throughout the tournament and can even win it.

actually France at their best could be difficult opponent like the last Euro 2000. it was a nightmare for me when the last golden goal by Trezeguet defeat Italy. but never lose the faith and i was glad that Trezeguet was the only one who failed scored the penalty in WC 2006 but this time isnt the same because they missing the like of Zidane to lead the team. Ribery so far is their best player while Titi Henry is struggled. and Thuram isnt like his used to be (absolutely a nightmare in the last game against Holland). so hopefully Italy could do something here and take the last ticket left. hopefully Grosso could appears same like the last performance. and i actually like Perotta at the last game. hope to see Benzema from the France side perhaps?

I'm not saying what Zizou done was correct because his reaction was totally wrong, but the tactics Matrix used I say would be 'typical'. You ask me would it be ok if France done the same? Well I don't think that would happen because only the Italy team is capable of those tactics.

What Matrix did was wrong, but to say only the Italy team is capable of that is even more wrong. That is some bad generalization.

Non of the above I recall has done smth like that, so making a judgment based on whant only Matrix did,is plain wrong Imo.

I'm quite badly surprised by your comments, Ghost. I thought you were a sensible poster. Instead you're turning into some light version of a wind up merchant, using stereotypes as argumentations, which tells a lot about the general level of your posts. I won't even need to step up to gear two to reply you. Kastriot (excellent post) enlighted you that every country is able of such tactics. You made that an ethnic matter, which is unacceptable.

But mind that your little crusade towards italians is offensive and i think breaks some forum rules. Here on MM nobody comment on other ethnies or countries, at least in such guise.
