I agree with you Russo-neri. Unless some elitist on this forum convinces me otherwise, it is time to let someone else in to do the financing and transfers of the players.

Next thing Galliani will come out and say, "Read my lips - P-A-Z-I-E-N-Z-A fellas"

I am sick of his games. Why does he have to play them with us. We are really in a bad condition right now. If a world class striker doesn't come we have the same problems as last season. We won't win home games and wonder why we aren't. We aren't willing to pay for Boruc either. Phew!

I think you guys should accept the fact that Milan won't play CL next year. The money Milan can offer can be easily matched by the other great teams and for people who used to win CL or played year after year trying to win it (Eto'o, Drogba etc) it's not easy to suddenly find themselves in UEFA Cup.
People use Bayern as an example but did they buy a world class superstar that demanded very high wages and was wanted by every club out there ? They bought Toni who was 30 and never played CL in his life. Apart from the Italian teams who should have payed 2 or 3 times more in order to get Toni, no other team wanted him. They bought Klose from their domestic league and Ribery from Marselle. They didn't do their shopping in Barcelona, Real, Chelsea, Lyon or Arsenal, like Milan are trying to do. They were shopping in Fiorentina, Werder and Marselle.

But Galliani deserves Milan fans to be mad at him. If you can't do something then don't talk week after week how you'll do that.

Injuries aside, Xabi Alonso is a brilliant player who makes the others play better.
He'll do the job Tiago was supposed to do and failled at it.
I like what Ranieri's trying to do. He wants to make a mixture of hard workers and technical players, good passers.
Capello's midfield consisted of Nedved, Emerson, Vieira, Camoranesi was very productive and hard to beat but it was painful to watch them. Apart from Camoranesi and Ibrahimovic the other 9 players in the line up were fighters and weren't good with the ball at their feet. Now Ranieri is trying to make a midfield mixture of hard workers (Sissoko, Nedved, Zanetti) and creative players (Giovinco, Xabi Alonso), with Camoranesi being a creative hard worker. This midfield will be helped by Amauri, Del Piero and Trezeguet, all of which offer different qualities in attack.

I like it (actually, i'm impressed) and i'm not so sure that Giancarlo's prediction will come true and Juve will be 7th or 8th at the end

Is Paloschi officially going on loan? Or is that decision only being made based on who is brought in during the transfer window?

If we keep him, I quite like the idea of Pato/Palsochi being our 1st choice strike partnership. Dunno about the end result/pressure etc but sometimes being thrown into the deepend and learning to swim is a good thing.

I agree completely. Even though i'm guilty as everyone else in here for mentioning the 'big' names, we can still have a great team with players from clubs inside Italy or from the 2nd tier European clubs. As long as we get the right players and not just the cheapest available then that's great.

Players like Pranjic or Zherkov might be good alternatives to someone like Vargas.

Juve will not finish 7th or 8th, they'll probably be around the same position they finished this time. Not sure you'll win the league, but then i don't think we'll win it either because i think for us it requires a change in attitude as much as a change in players.

I think if Trezeguet does go you could play 4-2-3-1 quite easily with Sissoko & Alonso at the base with Giovinco, Del Piero & Camoranesi behind Amauri. Could be interesting.

Well, there is a reason why the 'Big Name' players are called so, because they score 25+ goals a season. It is something Sheva did and we still haven't filled the space left by him.

... and we did try the "good alternative" method with Oliviera and everybody knows what happened. And guess what, even "good alternative" players cost a lot of money too. I agree that we actually may get a good alternative player and turn him into a great player but can we afford to do that? In the next season, we have to win Serie A to regain the honor we lost this year and to do that we do need a established player who can score 25+ goals a season.

(To Jim_UK: I am not picking on you by using "good alternative". It just fits into what people have been suggesting.)

Galli should really just shut up b/c he is really getting annoying with today no buy tomorrow we are buying him and him.... Doesn't he understand that one super signing is the cure, we need a couple of solid signings.

If he can perform like that for his national side, imagine how well he could do at club level.

Another day, another bit of class down the toilet from Galliani. "We only want one player, but their team won't negotiate with us."
Wow, I can do that job. I want alot of players, I don't think they'll return my calls if I try to entice them to Chicago FC. Galliani, hold your tongue.
I've got more enthusiasm for Arshavin, it's growing, but I want to see him against Netherlands. Rangers and Sweden, to me they're not exactly top of the heap (no disrespect). He didn't play the second leg against bayern so I wasn't able to rate him there against a tougher opposition. A star will be born with a great showing against the Dutch. (PS-Condolences to Boulahrouz and family...hang in there)
Diego still excites me, he plays deeper than Kaka' and would be a good link. Because of Kaka's injuries this year, he wasn't dropping back as much and making less slalom runs up the pitch. We need that quickness back in the mid, that creative quickness. Modric has shown it bigtime.

Tony, you have to realise that the majority of English commentators are awful with David Pleat being the worst, he's just an idiot. I remember a commentator for CH4 when they did the Italian Football matches years ago called Don Howe (he was associated with the England managerial set up for ages) and he was awful at pronouncing names. Instead of saying Baggio like Badge-ee-o he would make it a hard 'g' and say it like Bag-ee-o. He'd be a typical brit abroad, he'd speak slower & louder to make himself understood!

t.gianni, no problem mate, i knew you were not picking on me The thing about strikers who score 25+ goals regularly is that they'll cost a packet. I never really believed Oliviera was a good alternative to anything, he was just coming back from injury and i don't think he was that great a player to begin with. Players like Drogba, Adebayor, Etoo, Berbatov, etc ... are they really that reliable? I think maybe only RVN & Toni guarantee you goals. Price permitting, i still think Huntelaar and the injured striker from Zenit could be worth a shout. Although the latter isn't 'fashionable', he's an intelligent leading striker and played well in the Uefa Cup.

Personally, i know i'm dreaming but i still hope for Arshavin & Huntelaar

Without trying to brag (ok, maybe a little ) some of us here talked about Arshavin for 2 years now and we couldn't stop praising him.
He was always this good but he had the handicap to play in a league no-one's watching and for a national team no-one's watching.

He's not very young, though. Shava (his nickname, similar to one other, more famous, player's nickname) is 27 years old already and you can't expect him to drastically improve.
But what he's showing now and the way he played in last couple of years is enough for him to play in one of the best teams in Europe.
But like i once said to you guys and girls, he's being payed a lot in Russia, more than what he'll be payed in west Europe, and unless he wants to try something else, it will be very hard to get him. He won't like to leave his own country where he's adored by the people and where he's being payed loads of money for a new country, where he'll be relatively unknown and where he won't be getting so much money like he does in Russia.

i'm w/ you. I think we'll get SOMEONE. who is a good question. Numbers wise we r short on strikers/attacking players. He knows this. i doubt it'll be adebayor though. To be honest I have 0 idea. Drogba would be my first guess.... but who knows......

Thats the double edged sword w/ older players. although you cant replace exerience off the bench in big games (granted i'm opting more for pippo, oddo exerience than brocchi emerson) it comes at a price. Someone once wrote this about american baseball but ithink its completely applicable. When players sign contracts its based on what theyve done in past. not what theyll do in future.

Dinho for example, may never hit his form again but will still be 1 of 3 highest paid players in world because of his 2 seasons w/ barca.

I think it was during the Russia v Sweden match, they discussed this point and they had a club manager on the panel who had enquired about Arshavin and he said he was on around £50,000 a week. Wether this is accurate or not i don't know but considering we pay Emerson a similar wage i'd rather have the Russian and let the Boar go!

They also mentioned the rising nature of the Russian league with it's major investors and how this could easily turn into the new Premier League or La Liga. The trend is usually the same, older players start to join for one last big contract before they retire and then as the league grows eventually the younger stars will migrate to Russia.

I still think Milan could get Arshavin if they wanted him and it's a pity they don't seem to want him.

I think this is a big point you bring up. When i visited Russia, it is a new feeling that IN russia it can and will be (or already is) as good as the west, and there is alot of excitement and enthusiasm for russia. If Arshavin is as good as you said from 2 years ago (and I trust your assesment of him, Tony)
then this might be a good example of how it could be difficult to get players from russia to come here. If a player is good, surely he must have had some offers? I wonder how those played out, or what the reasons for not moving are.
A duo of Huntelaar and Arshavin and I'd be really content.
