Did you see Gila when he was playin in Parma, 4 goals a game, dribbling, deking, bicycle kicks. when he came here, he cudnt hit the net, then he was having trouble fittin in, and eventually became a true misfit. Hunterlar MIGHT fit into our squad. we could bring him in and he becomes the next Van Basten, or he could become a total waste. You don't know until you do it. everybody was sure gila would succeed and be with us for the next 10 years, did that happen? So at the end of the day, its a gamble. Whether its worth it, it depends on the price. thats the way milan operates, looking for the best value for the money. ie ronaldo, cafu, seedorf, kaka, pirlo, pato, ect. Most of these players become worth a lot more than what we bought them, while some are just bad gambles. But we can afford a 5 million bad gamble opposed to a 20-40 million bad gamble. thats why our management is reserved. Personally, i love the way our management operates. i do not think you should ever purchase a forward for a lot of money, unles u are 99% sure he will succeed, c.ronaldo, zidane, rvn (in his day),ect. On the other hand, with centerbacks and defense, most of the time you get exactly what you paid for. Buffon, nesta, and the likes. They may be pricey, but you can always count on them. Before you keep begging for management to spend crazy money on a forward, think of gila, shevcenko, and plenty others.

i suppose but gila is 1 bad example. pato was a gamble, but i think that 1 will work out. You cant always be cheap. you have to trust your scouts and what you see. I still cant pinpoint what happened w/ gila, from parma to milan. Very good point though....

Gambling is all well and good when you have an understanding of the odds.

I see your point but Carlo obviously thought it was Gila with the problem and not the players around him so it was time for him to go. Gilardino just came to us at a bad time IMO. I don't think there's any service-dependent striker who would have flourished over the last 2 seasons at Milan. His confidence was shattered so badly that even with the reinforcements it's unlikely he'll return to his best. Although Huntelaar is the same sort of player, he will come with a clean slate with teammates that hopefully have confidence in him unlike what they had in Gila.

Pippo did well when he played, he's pretty service dependent...

Pippo's special
Also with Pippo you see the players trying hard to feed him to give him chances...with Gila that seldom happened. |

if milan sells simic to Viola, i hope we do something smart in return like forts option on montovilo or frey, or someone else, or else they should offer him to celtic in part exchange for boruc.

![]() or Simic for Boruc > Simic for Mutu? ![]()

Enough with Gila, I was so happy we sold him and now you guys are saying he didnt do well because of the service - PLEASE. Do you ureally think the service he had at Parma back then was better than the one he had for the past two seasons?
Cmon guys, the problem was Gilardino himself. Notice his off-the-ball movements were sooooooooooo poor, he always stayed with the defender or went and stuck to the defender going for the dive - instead of going away from the defender to a better position. His confidence was really low and he is a very weak player mentally. Gilardino was simply not the right person for Milan. He was a great player before and has the chance to still become a great one again, good luck to him. Huntelaar I think is the same player as Gilardino too. The only difference ofcourse is the mental strength, I am not sure how confident is Huntelaar. I still would prefer someone like Balotelli/Cassano though. Podolski so far is the most impressive player at the Euro's for me. He is playing really welll, really really well. When he played for Bayern, I never seen him play anything like this! The German press called him the German Gilardino from how bad he was! Podolski needs a change of environment, he definitely has it in him...however I am not sure I would gamble on him given the disappointment of Gilardino/Oliveira in recent years.. because the lost all confidence in his abilities, and believe that passing to him is a waste of time, unlike pippo, or should i say Supper Pippo, wo makes the most of his opportunities.

I honestly don't know much about this theory about 'trust in the player's ability' bla bla bla. It's just so unteam-work like but oh well...
