Gio, thanks for backing up some of my points with hard facts, i.e. simic/darmian and favalli/brocchi. i just think we're getting handicapped so badly because of outrageous wages for not that much in return, or rather, we're getting a name and a reputation but not a whole lot of production.
i just get the feeling that carlo is too cautious to really give youth a chance. i'm not saying promote the whole primavera and let them play in every game, but come on...a consistent run for some of our youth would be great to see this year when again, i'm sure our goal will be "4th place, aint it great, says Galliani". I'm not quite sure i agree about loaning about Palo, but if it is for a year then i think it'll improve him greatly-but what if he has a crap year, then he'll come back with even less confidence and won't get into the team. i think we should keep him and let him grow with pato. that could be awesome to see those two develop together.
I love our players, so it is hard to say "ship them out" or "too old, get lost" but that's the reality of football, and if we want to step it up, we've got to have some ruthlessness in that regard. if you look at arsenal and how they manage their wages, and compare it to ours, the return on their past year was pretty amazing. i think they show that fiscal responsibility and youth can take you places, and if they would've supplemented with a few more big names and depth, could probably have been doing the double.

Yes, this is the BS that rumennige was talking about in an article i posted a few days back...players holding teams hostage with wages. it needs to be addressed in some way. Also, it just gives teammates/management/fans more of a reason to dislike a player. Dida's antics have been really weak this past year, so it would've gone a long way for him to have some atonement for it. hopefully his 'cycle' will come to an end, stat.

the thing w/ our youth players/backups is coppa italia shows they clearly arent THAT good. We have looked awful in coppa last few seasons when carlo gives runs to gourcuff, audeyang, digao, etc etc etc etc

but when they're given a run out every 3 months, with players who haven't had time to gel, i don't think that is an accurate indication of how good they are...and i'm not ever going to say that digao should come anywhere close to our first team!

He is a professional with a contract a mutual agreement between the club and himself so he has te right to stay here during that period. I don't like it but I don't hate him for doing so.

Veloso could be our next target

i just dotn get it.. i do like veloso. but he is gonnacost 20 mil. but we wont pay 15 for zapata at a position of need. 10 for boruc at a position of need. i'd rather ahve joao moutinho over veloso. not that veloso is bad. but moutinho offers something different, that we lack depth at.

Unless management is really convinced we can make veloso a top quality LB and CB, which is possible... he just seems so much more comfortable in middle of field, so why change it?

obviously still the need for a striker

Only difference is there are different laws in each country but then again it's not only Arsenal but United, Chelsea and Liverpool.

My personal thoughts on the Adebayor situation is that Galliani mentioned Adebayor because he felt that Arsene would refuse to sell him, this would give the Milan fans the impression that the club tried for a player. However what impression will it leave when Barcelona come in and reach an agreement with Arsenal over the price of Adebayor? Which looks pretty likely imo.
That's extremely rude. I'm not even going to give your post a response. Show some respect.

Boriello, Abate, Abbiati and Antonini were already ours, or 1/2 owed by us, hence nothing hard.

lets look at players he tried to get,

Ade, nope, couldnt make any useful negotiations with wenger.

Eto, Drogba and R10, same thing in heavy negotiations, but nothing came out of it.

So i dont see how he rules the market, he only got a free player, a homesick player, and a few players we already owned.
Who cares if we got Flamini for free? Or got those other players back on loan? At least we're getting a lot of new players unlike some other teams I know. How many players has Inter acquired as of today? I've checked Wikipedia and its says ZERO.

Borriello, Abate and Antonini can be very useful for our team.

And Galliani has done major negotiations in the past... for example for Pato (which was a huge transaction for a young player like that).

We have been the most active team market wise... some other teams really haven't done anything.

And let me remind all of you , technically the transfer market does not open until July 1st. When July 1st comes rolling around you'll see major activity. I'm not expecting any major activity right now especially with regards to players involved with the Euro Cup.

I think his point was it didn't take "serious" or extremely difficult negotiations to make any of those transfers happen.
Also Leonardo was the one more than anyone else who convinced/put together the Pato deal.
Galiani shouldn't receive the praise for the Pato deal.
Leonardo is the transfer Guru when it comes to most young Brazilians that arrive...esspecially if they're playing in Brazil at the time we purchase them.
