Well technically the whole transfer season does not open until July 1st if I recall correctly... while deals can be made before... the big deals won't come till later.

This is fundamentally my question. Why do our rivals like Barca, Real, Man Utd, Liverpool, Chelsea go for the BEST in the market, while we have to settle for second or at times third best? Barca goes for Alves and sells us Zambro. Man Utd are serious about getting Benzema while Galliani baulks at his price tag. Liverpool bought Torres for an enormous sum last year and we cant compete. Chelsea spent big on some players, they paid a fortune for Drogba and Essien---they (esp the latter) are now one of the best players in the world and their value have risen. While we go for Antonini, Abate, etc. I know it is good to invest in youth esp from our own academy, but really when was the last time AC Milan actually broke the bank for a top level transfer? Did we get Pippo Inzaghi on a free, did we get Sheva for free? Did Nesta join on a free transfer? We got all these guys at their prime and spent huge fortunes on them----but it paid off because we won tons of trophies. So logically to start another cycle, we need to start taking a tip in the mercato and get some top players---all of whom will cost money. But sadly, despite being owned by Italy's richest and most powerful man, despite being the world's most successful club, it seems like we cant compete with the best anymore. And for someone who's been following Milan over the last 20 years, it is very very frustrating.

I think its appropriate we make smart buys, and not overspend like Chelsea because that has produced little results from them. And for one every major team brings back players that they consider progressed enough by buying back half of their contract... I'm sure even clubs in the EPL do this. But what you're suggesting we do is neglect our youth system and neglect talents like Abate and Antonini... it's totally inappropriate. It's not good to break the bank when that produces little results. Milan has produced many great results the last six years. How are we not competing with the best? I'd like to see how. |

Well lets get back to the transfer market. I think in the next few weeks things will resolve. I'm an optimist.
Well I'm going out to a club. See you all later. If my stupid friend ever shows up lol. |

This time last year everyone was happy,Milan were crowned Kings of europe again.
So what happened to everyone not turning on Milans transfer policy last year? Milan made one major signing last year and he Pato did not come until 2008. When you win everything is fine with mangment and when the team does not perform we blame Gallliani for everything, fine even if it is fair to blame Galliani, please lets not forget about some of the players he brought in also. I think Milan should of done more work in the transfer market last year in order to defend the CL Title, but nobody was really talkng about as much they are now? I was not posting message with you guys last year, but that's what remember reading on this site and other sites |

Looks like Adebayor is ging to Barca. kind of reminds me of the Henry deal last year,we talk up a strom about Henry and at the end we say he costs too much?
That's fine with me,now let's go out and find another Pato. |

And yes Henry went to Barca. And what happened to Henry? Ended up like... manure. Barca has a history of getting players and ruining them. |

If Pato were so great we wouldnt be crying because Adebayor is signing with Barcelona or because we cant sign any big name foward.

I would take take Pato over Adebayor everyday of the week.At 18 nobody even knew who a Adebayor was and if you asked Arsenal to do a swap for Pato and Adebayor there would be no question what they would do,It would be Milan that would tell them go take hike.

One thing I will agree with is that Spanish teams do get robbed silly when it comes to buying ex Arsenal players. Mlm Modric is a very good player but way overpriced at 16 million, don't know what the Tottenham scum were thinking. |
