The refs are baffling beyond belief, how was the ball out and how could the linesman know that anyway? Lucky break for the Russians.

I think, linesman could look at whether the ball was out of play or not as the line of the field helps the linesman very much. Its much easier to decide whether the ball is out of field or not compare to decide whether a player is offiside or not as there is a line to help him to look at the situation.

Good deicison by referee to consider linesman's decision as linesman was the one who could see it in the right way.

the ball wasn't out, that's for sure.... but the tackle by the russian n.8 shouldn't have been a yellow card (--> red card), so the fairness persisted.

Dutch completely lacking a cutting edge. Can't say i'm surprised, they're following the pattern of the teams that had successful group stage campaigns. If Hiddink moves Arshavin to the left, it's game over for the Dutch. RvN equalised for Dutch side. So Dutch still breathe there. If Dutch is a great side I think they should prevail. Anyway TERRIBLE officiating. Neither of those cards were deserved at all. How unlucky are Russia?

He chged his mind after being informed that the ball was already out the line. I think he did a good job because the red card could have completely changed the game.

Thats out. Watch the reply. Dircect after the ball was leaving the field the linesman raise his flag.

He did raise it immediately but it didn't look out, but any way if the Russians lose they will join the many many teams that can't defend set pieces.

I don't see the Netherlands who was the group stage winner. This game completely belongs to Russia. Arashvin couldn't stop running, Pavlyuchenko is insane. Clearly, a deserved win for Russia. Period !!

Wow...did Russia and Netherlands exchange jerseys? That game should never have even been close, russia had many chances that they blew; that is my only criticism of them today. Russia played exactly like the dutch did in the groups, creative and running all over, great passing. Good victory for russia. Midfield of netherlands was too stacked in the center, nobody was moving or creative. Sneijder was absent till the end, Van der Vaart also had a terrible game. No outside movement killed Netherlands. Hup Holland, Forza marco!

Russia is a team to reckon with... they have the ability to take it home.

Another 'ultra-modern team' which consist of young, fast, cocky players is blown to bits. When the time comes, it is the determination which counts and Russia have shown today, what a modern football team should be. Forza Russia!! Now I hope Italy beats Spain tomorrow and complete the definition of a modern team.

PS: Arshavin is ridiculously good. I mean on 120th minute he was chasing the ball as if he came off the bench. Yeah, I hope we get him along with Pavluchenko.
