Even if we have the largest wage bill it's not much more than Inter's THEN when you ADD the cost of their TRANSFERS it should be a non-issue really

Hehe, it wouldn't have changed anything even if they listened to us. What could they do ? Scream here in the forums to buy Arshavin ?
Unless by "some people" you mean Galliani.

I saw Arshavin 2 years ago , live on the stadium in Skopje. Imagine his tonight's performance against far too inferior defenders than the Dutch defenders.
Right after the match i, and one other MM member from Macedonia (i think Acmir is his nick) came here and we were like WTF just happened and what did this Arshavin guy do ??
Then i decided to follow him once more. I found a Russian cable TV and he was doing exactly the same things.
Then i asked Oksana and we talked in one of the old topics. She told me that atm it was impossible to buy Arshavin.

And she was right. Zenit knew that they have real gold and that it will be a robbery if they sell him for some 6 or 7m. They knew that no team was prepared to pay more for him because, you know, no-one pays big money for an anonimous from the Russian league, who is 25 and is unproven in big competitions like the CL or WC/EURO.

Now it's different. Everyone saw him in UEFA and in this EURO and now Zenit will be ready to sell him for a fair offer, which is +20m euro.
Now the big teams will be ready to offer him high wages and to at least match his Zenit salary, which could make him decide to leave Russia.

And what about Pato ?
Granted that a pure striker is needed the most, but if that is the case we have no reason to chase Ronaldinho too. Even if everybody in our management is saying that we do not want him, doesn't mean that we won't sign him if his price goes down. Is it even reasonable for us to ask a young Pato to leave his usual position become an attacking midfielder?

Like it or not, times have changed in Milan. Now we must do it all by our own finances, and Berlu will put only some x moneys per year.
The 30 million euros tag you put on his is simply your opinion. Even considering today's match, the number you suggested is inflated. After the euros are over, his hype will go down and so will his price. Again, the 15 milloin euros tag is my opinion but it is a calculated guess according to the previous Russian transfers.

I never asked Berlu to chip in financially. The thing is, Gazprom, Zenit's sponsor which is run by the Russian government; has a big say in the club's football matters because they give their petro-dollars to the club. So if Milan approaches Zenit, they will certainly consider that Milan is owned by Berlu, who is a very good friend of Putin. Berlu wouldn't even have to speak to Zenit. His prior relations with Russia would do the work for us.

If Milan, by itself refuses to pay his transfer fee (may be upto 15 million euros), then it will be so. It is just our bad luck that the whole league is in a miserable financial condition. We would again miss out on a very good player. 'nuff said.

So what happened to everyone not turning on Milans transfer policy last year?
Milan made one major signing last year and he Pato did not come until 2008.
When you win everything is fine with mangment and when the team does not perform we blame Gallliani for everything, fine even if it is fair to blame Galliani,
please lets not forget about some of the players he brought in also.

I think Milan should of done more work in the transfer market last year in order to defend the CL Title, but nobody was really talkng about as much they are now?
I was not posting message with you guys last year, but that's what remember reading on this site and other sites
it's obvious that you did not follow last year's "summer mercato" thread.

Arshavin now is easily around 30 M if not more.

Do you think if Berlusconi really really wanted a player, he would put more money in? I am not convinced he really really wants Ronaldinho.

Arshavin is very impressive. We will get him. He's not worth 30 million or more... we will be able to get him from Zenit at a lower rate. Arshavin was highly impressive today, and was the best player on the pitch. But at tops he is worth 15 million... I'm not degrading him. I think he's just as capable as any other attacking midfielder... world class... but, Russians are not as expensive as other players and Russian clubs do not ask as much.

And if Berlusconi wants this player he only has to make a few phone calls. He'll get precedent over anyone else because of his close relations with the Putin government. And now he's a head of state (once again hehehe)...

You probably didn't read what some other people said ...
Russian clubs are some of the richest ones in the world !! They're "small Chelsea" ...

So if the real value of Arshavin is 15M €, no club will be able to take him at less than 25-30M € for sure !!

You are actually wrong about your thought about Russian football: they're rich, they pay a lot, and they are able to keep their guys. We're no more in that period when West European clubs (bigger ones from Spain, Italy, England, etc) were taking players from East Europe at low costs because these clubs did need money. Nowadays, you have to pay a looooooooooot ...

PS: Arshavin is 26yo, thought he was younger ...

I completely disagree... while they may pay their players well, I'm sure we could get him for 15-20 million. Not 30 million. I totally disagree... and besides that I think Berlusconi can ask for some favors done because of his close ties to the Russian government. In the end this will work out.

Wait never mind... I do get your point now. Zenit after all is funded by the Russian state oil company and there is a lot of money there. But still, Berlusconi should be able to negotiate a fair price for both sides.

You can disagree but it's a fact that Russian clubs pay more and can keep their players or sell them at high price. They can even pay a lot to take a player from where they want (I like the example of Shakhtar Donetsk: they bought Ilsinho for 15M €, Willian for 15M €, Castillo for 20M €, Lucarelli for 8M € and some other signings in one single summer, and they still keep Srna who is wanted by so many clubs in West Europe. Why do I speak about Shakhtar now ? Simply because they're in East Europe and are less rich than Russian clubs ..., that shows you their power).

Tell me one good player from Russia coming to West Europe these last 2 years ... none comes to my mind right now.

I wouldn't be that sure ...
Why would he do that ? To have something to give in return to Russia ?

Politics and football together are not good and I think Berlusconi doesn't mix up both because if he asks something for Milan, maybe Russia will ask something else that has nothing to do with football and Berlusconi and Italy would be the losing part of the story.

Anyway, we don't know, maybe ... but I wouldn't do that personally nor advice that lol.

I'm not talking about a bribe lol... all I'm saying is I think he's friendly enough with Putin for their to be cordial negotiations on this player... like with any other club. Of course I wouldn't want Italy to negotiate its economic security or anything along that lines.

How about Simic, Emerson and maybe some cash (like 15-20m?)?
