My few cents on Arshavin

Great player, deserves the hype aroundhim with the bright displays for the NT and Zenit, and I would love to have him in milan, however arent we forgetting smth really important. In this equation x=milan(very easy) but what about Abramovich factor.

I think that Chelsea will be the favorite to sign him. They have the money nobody can match and there is always the other factor that made Sheva think Chelsea will be better place for him.

Unless:
There is a political factor involved, i know that the president of Zenit(gazprom) bought Abromovich`s company(not very politely as i`ve heard). And they aren`t exactly best of friends. So this could be the reason why Chelsea were never officially linked to him.

From what I have seen, even a transfer fee approaching 30M would be acceptable for him (but unfortunately, or fortunately I dont know I'm not Berlusconi)..
I think all this Arshavin talk is a bit over the top. Don't get me wrong I'd love it if he came here, but assuming most people (in this forum and the world as a whole) have only seen him play three games (two at the Euros + the UEFA Cup final) I think we all need to calm down and not overhype this (admittedly great) player. Comparing him to Ronaldinho in his prime is definately too much, at least because Ronnie performed brilliantly over a longer period of time.

I am surprised nobody talked about De Jong, as he was really great for Holland during Euro. He is also a very talented player, and I would think he is more than capable of playing in Pirlo's spot.
Lastly, a much better upgrade than EMERSON AND Brocchi.

I must admit I didn't seen Arshavin play much but with what I've seen I must say I'm impressed. More than with Adebayor. I think we could use him in our scheme as we aswell. Adebayor's price tag probably makes that we won't sign him and to be honest I don't know what to think of that. Should we risk it or not? Normally I would say no but we need to invest to get a return. Or we could get another cheaper player. Arshavin perhaps although he would like to play in Spain. But I think we could use him even more than we could use Adebayor. We bought back Boriello so we have an tall powerforward I know most of us still have our doubts about him but since we have him we must use him. Besides if arshavin would come we could play various tactical schemes (especially compared with this year).
We would have two forwards that can create their own chances (Arshavin and Pato)
one powerforward (Boriello)
one opportunistic goalgetter (Inzaghi)
al those players can play together so I don't think it would be a bad thing.
So if arshavin is really that much cheaper than adebayor then I'dd say let's get ourselfs a new tsar. (perhaps we should scout his wife aswell)

Yeah if we could buy Sneijder & Veloso, then let Barca get Adebayor so we can get Ronaldinho & Etoo off of them, get Arshavin, Zapata, Zherkov & Boruc and we're set! Our team would look like this!

------------Boruc---------------
Zambrotta-Nesta-Zapata-Zherkov
----Flamini--Pirlo--Sneijder-----
------------Kaka---------------
---Arshavin-------Etoo---------

Bench: Abbiati, Bonera, Jankulovski, Veloso, Ronaldinho, Pato, Boriello

We'd be quids in then, we just need to get Berlusconi to call in some favours and get Galliani to sell a kidney or two! It would only cost about £120 million!

the president of the Russian football federation Vitaly Mutko, has said to journalists

Arshavin would like to play abroad, maybe for Barcelona. That club is in his heart since he was a young boy and it's his dream to play there one day. He talks about Barcelona the whole time. I'm sure he could play there without any problem and show all his quality

Asked about the rumours linking him with a summer move, Arshavin said in an interview

Maybe the time to leave indeed has come. I know I have offers from England and Germany, but what I really would like is to play in the Primera División. I have always followed the Spanish league and I like the football they play there. But at this moment, I didn't yet receive any offers from Spain

Im back on mercato thread after 2 days of absolute football depresion...

Anyway, Euro has showed that coaches INFLUENCE the way and the quality players play! Hidding has wawed his magic and showed that when you use right players in right circumstances you make them blossom. My friend if a big fan of russian football, not now, but even back when they sucked big time and ( I dont know why he is a fan of Russian football dough....noone knows that ) he told me about their LB/LM Zhyrkov ( If I spelled it right, the no.18). I think he is 25 or 26 but it dosnt matter, he reminds me of Serginho so much its wonderfull to see him play!! For a LB his pace, touch and obvious class is somrthing that could really help us.

Arshaving is of course known player that has showed during Qualifiers that can make fools our of englands defence and that is enough to show you can play.

If Adebayor is gone to Barcelona, it would be wonderfull ot make the world's fastest tridente KAka'-Pato-Eto'o, and include a player like Schwainstainger ( rumored ) in the middle.

I dont think that Arshevin is a better player then Eto'o or Pato, but it doubt Milan will ever even go for him aldough he would be able to replace Seedorf instantly in 4-3-2-1.

And again I will cry for Milan not signing Modrić!! God damn it Luka you will never win anything in Tottenham!

Why do you all want Ronaldinho AND Eto'o ?! With all these reports about them not liking each other ...

For Arshavin, he's hyped, but a friend who is a Marseille fan (you know, the most arrogant team who thought they would win UEFA Cup easily but were pushed off the competition by Zenith), already told me at that period that Arshavin was amazing ... so it seems like he can often/always play like in this Euro.

Again and again, why not taking Italian players with this law that could be put in football about domestic-non domestic players in some years (even if UEFA actually said that this FIFA rule was stupid and that they won't use it) ...

We need Montolivo for our midfield (replacing Brocchi or Emerson) as he can play a bit like Pirlo, in a different registre but as efficient or almost.
We need Rosina to play alongside Kaka' or Seedorf when one of them needs rest.
I want G.Rossi in Milan ...

With such a mercato, I would be so happy (I'm already happy with what our management is doing but with that ... it would be another dimension lol).

arshavin is not overhyped Geo, really, he is not. But he is a player we do not need. Unless we want to play with 2 AM and PAto, and we need to have in mind Arshavin cannot transform in central midfielder like Seedorf can in periods of pressing. But Arshavin in a great player.

Montolivo would be a dream for us. Him and Aquilani are the best young midfielders in Italy and I'm sure two of the best young stars in the world. Aquilani won't leave Roma I think, but if Montolivo continues his performances than Fiorentina will surely struggle to keep him......and in the end he'll leave. We need to keep tabs on him as I don't think we can buy him this year but surely in the future.

I'm sure we will sign a star no matter what baldy says. If Adebayor goes to Barca, which all the rummors are suggesting will happen, then we will surely get ONE of Ronie or Eto'o. I would prefer 'Dinho, although I won't complain about Eto'o. That's just my thoughts. Ade to Milan = Dinho to X club ; Ade to Barca = Dinho to Milan. Galliani/Berlu won't have a choice and he'll have to pay the extra 10 mil to keep everything smooth in the club and for the fans.

By the way, have you guys noticed how Gomez's rummors have died out and talk about him even here has stopped. It's amazing what a bad cuple of games can do. I was never completely sold on him even though I don't want to judge him and negate his great season over a couple of international games.

Anyhow, Euro will be over in less then a week and we should have a lot of fun in this thread after that.

He can keep the ball, he can give excellent passes, he can dribble, he can score, he always moves, so even if he doesn't defend that well when we need him to defend, no problem ... our front would be so good, Kaka', Pato, Inzaghi, Arshavin, these 4 guys mixed up (one on the bench) would be a real poison for all defenses in the world because that would always move and would be always dangerous.

And Flamini is young, he would be able to run a bit more ... lol

Yes, serious things are going to start, silly season is going to really start !!

For Montolivo, we "gave" them Gilardino, it seems like Simic could go to Fiorentina too, so even if we don't take Montolivo this year, we could deal something to make him coming the following year (a bit like if we buy him now and loan him to Fiorentina for one year). I would be happier about having Montolivo than having Frey, can't explain why ...

He can't play instead of Pirlo, just to make that clear. He was Hollands best player though and could be a good alternative as a DM. Its just that this is far from a priority for us. We have more pressing needs.

I still believe Arshavin could be useful, who do we have to replace kaka when he is injured? nobody. Arshavin could provide us with quality detph we lacked this year. Since Arshavin is in imho compatible with everybody else even in our team, he would fit in a team with pato next to him and kaka behind. Adebayor for instance can't be used with Borriello.
something like this
----------GK
Zambro-Nesta-Maldini-Janku
--Rhino/Ambro-Pirlo-Flamini
--Arshavin/Pato-Kaka
-----Borriello

or

---------------GK
--Zambro-Nesta-Maldini-Janku
--Rhino/Ambro-Pirlo-Flamini
------------Kaka
--------Arshavin-Pato

or even

---------------GK
--Zambro-Nesta-Maldini-Janku
------------Pirlo
--Rhino/Ambro-Flamini
------------Kaka
--------Borriello-Inzaghi

this is what silly season is all about.
Gomez seems to be out of the picture but I wouldn't write him of becoz of a lousy EC. We must also realise that Arshavin is a new god or something just because of this one Eurogame but he this entire season he played very well. About another rumour (channel 4) Schweinsteigger could be in the picture. I think he a great player but I doubt Bayern would want to let him go. He has a great fighting spirit and has great flair but has he got a temper problem (in general I mean in the dressing room, not the last red card he got). I don't understand for how we would use him. As a replacement for Seedorf or something?
About Montolivio I still dream of him do you guys have a source? or is it just a nice dream aswell. I hope to get him and loan him out to fiorentina for this season. Next year he could fill in for Pirlo when needed.
