I think Pato starts in a support strikers role, with R10 alternating with Seedorf in the midfield.
---Pirlo----Flamini/Rino/Max ---Seedorf/R10---Kaka-- -----Pato------- ----Adebayor--- This I expect to happen when facing the minnows though, or if we concede a goal....not when facing a strong team. The line up/formation for those games? Won't even speculate, I leave that for Carlo to decide. Still early days yet in this mercato...and for all we kno, we may not get anyone... Stupid management!! ![]()

£28m, Milan are supposedly ready to pay for Adebayor, is indeed a lot of money. It equals 35m euro.
I don't know if it's the right thing to do and if it's a fair price so i won't go into that. I only want to say that this could be a begining of a new era in Italian football. Back in the late 80's and early 90's Berlusconi started the new era when he started paying 5 times more than the market price in order to get the best. The other Italian teams had no other choice but to start spending just as much and everything resulted with the crazy mercato's in the early 2000's and the collapse of some teams (Lazio, Parma etc). Teams were paying crazy money for good, but not world class, players. After that the Italian teams stopped paying huge money and a quick look at the last 5 mercato's can prove that. This is what the Italians payed in last years : Quote:
It's been long long time since an Italian team payed more than €25m for one player (the last it happened was back in 2002 when Milan bought Nesta). If Milan pay €35m for Adebayor, who tbh still isn't one of the best 10 players in the world, do you think a new revolution will start and can the Italian teams allow to start bidding wars with the English and Spanish teams ?

I hope not-this is unsustainable in the long run, no matter who is the backer of the club. Plus, it inflates players' egos and wage demands, thus putting more pressure on the clubs. There is still the tax issue which seems to come up anytime a major transfer target pops up (and inevitably goes somewhere more tax-friendly). And I think there is still a bigger lure right now to play in England or Spain (for money or other reasons). Given current economic situations, it seems like there would have to be some ramification for football teams. How much is fuel for the bus/planes? How many fans will continue to come to matches/pay for satellite tv? How will this affect teams' bottom lines? I'm a fiscal conservative, so if I were in charge of a team I'd be looking for free/great deals on transfers. But that type of thinking doesn't get you to the top! |

Adebayor's agent says that Arsenal are looking for his replacement in Gomez, Crouch (
) and Santa Cruz. ATM, his chances of coming to Milan are 70-80%http://www.calciomercato.com/index.php?c=12&a=86029 |

I agree, that Pato should start as often as possible. In theory, if either Pato/Kaka/R10 play as the middle AM, they can push up and change formation to 4-2-2-2 from 4-2-3-1 In the 4-2-2-2, if Rino/Flamini take the DM roles, and Kaka/R10 take the AM roles, could Pirlo be rested? Surely R10/Kaka could fulfil the "playmakers" role? In theory if Pato/Kaka/R10 are hitting the back of net consistently thanks to Adebayor's ability to holdup the ball, would it matter if he missed more than he scored? |

As its already metioned here that Spanish Clubs have huge advantage regarding the tax of wages. So, I think there is no other way for italian club to get player, whom Spanish clubs also want, except with bidding war (there is other way actually if the player insists that he only wants to play in Serie A or for certain club from Italy). We all know, italian clubs cant match wages that Spanish clubs can offer.
So, the only way is to kick the spanish clubs out of the negotioting first (so these spanish clubs have no chance to huge wages to the player) so the italian club can discuss the wage with the player freedomly. Yes, player has right to reject wages' offer but the important thing is that your bid for a player is not rejected by the player's club. I dont think many clubs will do what Milan do to Ade (if the news is true) as in bidding war for transfer fee, the spanish clubs can also easily match the offer of italian clubs except the offer is way too far from spanish clubs ability/budget. This bidding war can happen only in certain cases IMO, cases in which the player is really needed by the italian clubs as there is no other better option for them). |

Tony:"3. Cannavaro €13m (10m+Carini) - Juventus" Well, this one is NOT EXPENCIVE!!
Only Moggi can to that kind of robbery... Do not forget he came to Juve from Inter, not Parma etc.I personally dont care, Milan sold Sheva, Oliveira, Gilardino, Vogel...We have money do not be afraid. To invest 35mln in a normal thing for a big club. For sure the investment is an equal as Juve's investment in Amauri, who I dont rate as high as Adebayor. And Juve payed big money for him in the end. Not cheep at all, aldough Amauri is an excellent player. Milan is a club that can afford to spend 80mln for one summer, like Bayern did when it was needed. I have absolutely no doubts that, if Berlusconi doesnt get all cheep, Milan has no problems buying few more great players, starting with Adebayor.

The scary thing about the Ade transfer is that, it is not a bidding war for Milan to get Adebayor, it is just that Arsenal does not want to sell him. Yes, Barcelona is rumor, but there is not really anything but solid news like Josep saying he wants Adebayor....
As for the Italian clubs going to over spend, well, it really depends how the league itself want to be view as. I think at the end some of the mid table teams will be bought by billionare playboy, like Roman. Lets just wait and see. |

Anyone read who Inter might buy... Quaresma, Lampard and Mancini... damn... talk about getting champions... It's sure a step up from what they have... Has more credibility of claiming that "we rule the transfer market"... |

Lampard is a really underrated signing though. He may not be close to as skilled as kaka or dinho, but he can be as effective at AM. If chelsea had have won CL it would have been on his back.

switching to goalie....
Boruc: £15M May Be Too Much For Me Poland goalkeeper Artur Boruc has been one of the stars of Euro 2008 with a string of outstanding saves for his country in the group stage. The Poles failed to get to the quarter-finals, but Boruc enhanced his reputation - and his club, Celtic, have accordingly raised their valuation of the keeper to any interested parties. * * Print This Story * Send To A Friend * Contact Us Boruc: £15M May Be Too Much For Me galleria zoom * * * Inevitably there is strong interest in Boruc from a number of clubs now, but the Scottish League champions are in no hurry to sell one of their outstanding assets, and have set the price - a reported £15 million - correspondingly high to ensure that if a serious buyer does emerge, the Hoops will be appropriately compensated. However Boruc, 28, is concerned that the price is to high and will dissuade potential bidders. He told Setanta Sports: "The top 10 clubs in the world are prepared to pay £15 million for a striker but not a keeper. "I don't know if any other club wants me. I had a good season with Celtic and we won the championship for the third time in a row. I enjoyed the experience of playing in the Champions League with Celtic and the European Championship with Poland, although I was disappointed we didn't make the quarter finals." Boruc seems to have a point regarding the price tag, because earlier in the month AC Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti admitted that the Rossoneri could not afford the Polish keeper - and at that stage the price being quoted was only £10 million. Ancelotti is known to have wanted Boruc 12 months ago, but insists Milan cannot meet the asking price. “I wanted to bring Boruc to Milan about a year ago, but now the price is too high,” he told the Daily Mail. “Milan cannot afford Boruc. We made some efforts but it did not happen and now I have three goalkeepers in any case.” However, Milan's general manager, Ariedo Braida, suggested at the time that Boruc remains a possibility for Milan. “Boruc is a wonderful goalkeeper, he has been incredible for the past couple of years," he said. "We are going to lose Dida, possibly Zeljko Kalac, so we need to bring in a new one. “Boruc has a big price tag, £10 million is a lot of money, but I cannot exclude anything.” Now that price tag appears to have gone up by 50 per cent. There were also rumours that North London rivals Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur were prepared to go head-to-head in a race for Boruc's signature, but that story appears to have died a death. Spurs boss Juande Ramos is thought to be determined to replace ex-England number one Paul Robinson, but again the price they were prepared to go to for Boruc was no more than £10 million. With Jens Lehmann having left Arsenal, manager Arsene Wenger could be in the market for a new keeper too - though he has confidence in Manuel Almunia and one of Boruc's two understudies in the Poland Euro 2008 squad, Lukasz Fabianski. Wenger is anyway notoriously reluctant to pay massive fees for established stars. So Boruc may have to bide his time - or prepare for another SPL campaign with Celtic. Mark Hinton, Goal.com ---------------- take this for what you want. 1) good job management, missed out now price is rising..... 2) the braida quote is quite promising... I just wonder when it is from. It could be old, prior to abbiati..
