It's funny I always found the Serie A far more interesting than the EPL... because of how technically skilled the players and teams are.

At any rate, I think it is more up to Adebayor than Arsenal at this point. I hear he wants to leave Arsenal. Wenger should just let him go because his heart is clearly elsewhere right now.

Zapata eyes swift recovery

Udinese’s Colombian defensive star Cristian Zapata is on the road to recovery from a cheekbone fracture and aims to start next season at full fitness.

The highly rated 21-year-old suffered a serious facial injury during a World Cup 2010 qualification game against Peru at the start of the month.

Zapata flew back to Italy for surgery and is happy with the way that his recovery has started.

“Fortunately now I am well again and I can’t wait to get started,” he told Udinese’s official website.

“I want to officially thank doctor Massimo Politi for having performed exemplary surgery on my cheekbone fracture.

“Now I am just thinking about resting so that I can get back to training as soon as possible.

“After the injury I was really beaten down and sad, but now after the operation I am calmer and I can’t wait to start running again.

“For now I will be staying at home in Udine. That will be my holiday when I just think about getting myself back in shape to be 100 per cent for next season.”

The average fan where? Here in the US? Well, I don't mean to come down hard on people here but they are not exactly well informed... all they follow are a few big name players in England.

The sad thing was if you all remember that Milan-Liverpool final game, I went to the pub on campus (yes they do serve alcohol 2 drink limit), and they had the game going... I was one of two Milan fans there... the rest were Liverpool fans.

I just tend to think people follow certain teams but they really don't have certain ties to the team... and some are almost glory hunting in a certain respect.

Milano84 brings up good points. The unfortunate thing is Serie A has become more attacking recently (some would argue even more than the EPL) but people love their stereotypes. For example, did all of you witness the absolute snoozefests that were the big clashes in the EPL this past year? Some of them were actually painful to watch. Teams like Roma and Milan are often mesmerizing when in full flow. But you can't win them all. When Italy won the World Cup people quickly forgot that Lippi threw on four strikers in the semis!!! They also forgot that it was Fabio Grosso (a fullback) who scored the winning goal and who won the penalty against Australia!


The problem with Italy is the violence, and the monstrosities that pass as stadiums. They must really address these issues because they don't make for pleasant viewing on TV.

Quite right, and this is why the EPL, with its enormous exposure, is winning the glory-hunting war.

Well, I see your point too... but I'm sure we all remember the Chelsea-ManU final. That was a snoozefest. I nearly fell asleep in that. I thought there was a great deal of attacking football in the Serie A (bar inter), and while Milan did not make the CL, I saw them step it up in the last few games. I think Italy with Lippi know will show the world once again at how Italian football is both attacking and defensive. While Roma is a rival, I always respected at how they play...

I just wish more people would open their eyes and understand.

Sad but true. It takes domination in champions league to show and even then.... i remember milan v manUtd 2 years ago. I nearly got my ass kicked after :-D

its the whole cristiano ronaldo phenomenon. If i argue kaka is better, its like i'm a moron....a couple fancy crossovers and a goal=sportscenter GOD. But all the subtle things kaka does, first touches etc, stuff morons easily overlook...his effect on his team, involving teammates etc.

I don't even bother to talk with most american fans about milan, it's a lost cause. i quietly walk the streets in my red and black, confident in my support of the best team in the world.

You know the only understanding people I've talked with here are mainly Latino... many of them do like Milan... they aren't exactly fans per say... but they have a far more open mind. My best friend is a supporter of Club America...

That's true, about 80% of my students are latino (i'm a hs teacher) and i have a milan flag in my room, so they always ask me about it...mostly they like barca if they support a team in europe, but they do at least know milan.

its because they are born football fans. They watch and see skill, like you or me, and know what good football is regardless of clubs name or players name..

you know what my favorite mls momment was. Season opener this year for la galaxy, i hapen to flip on and its an interview w/ kobe bryant. Some woman asks him what his dream matchup for football would be.... he says late 80s/early 90s AC milan v. 2006 Barca champions league team. and the woman asking him questions is dumbfounded. had no clue what he wassaying. From that point on, i started respecting kobe....
