What a shame ...shame shame shame on burlesconi and co. i suppose he was too expensive for us too. so fiorentina have more buying power than us too. We are turning out to look like right fools infront of the whole world.

I also thought id say there is gonna be no Mr X this year either. i aint gonna fall for last years trick again. we are doomed if we dont strengthen this squad this year. fiorentina pipped us for 4th last season, and with there new squad they will finish way ahead if us at this rate.

Dont anybody tell me to stop being pessimistic, ive been a milan fan longer than some of your lives,and i havent seen anything like this. Again we need GK, 2 DF, 1 MD, 1 ST

I'm not convinced by this guy. I see that there are better players out there. I think we should explore our Brazilian connections instead...

Or perhaps look at Udinese for Zapata...

Gian, why do you say 'or' zapata, i was thinking more like '&' zapata, we have an ageing defence and need at least 2 defenders to put up a serious challenge, forget about zapata also, we may end up with luigi sala or someone of that type.

Last year was Suazo...this year is Vargas...I don´t know, but for me, great performers at small or middle teams aren´t a no brainer purchase.

Last year 90% was mad because we can´t get Suazo...and now, after just one year, the hype disapear...I also remember people mad because we chose Pato(a unproven kid) over a Serie A proven player like Suazo.

It´s just my opinion, but it´s easy to be great in a small team......but deliver in red&black is another history

Gian,when u make a statement like "I'm not convinced by this guy", usually its fair to the guy anf the other posters that diffe from your opinion that u back up that argument, It doesnt have to be a scientific fact, however an educated guess/fact of why u are not conviced by the guy will be appriciated.

I did make an educated guess based on what I've seen of him. That simple. That's my opinion. If you're expecting anything more than, forget it. I think there are better players out there. Vargas played for what? Catania? How is that top level?

Vargas is a very good player, not an excellent one or W-C yet. He will maybe become an excellent player in Fiorentina or with a still better club than Fiorentina then ...
Anyway, he has no chance actually to become a big star ... it could have happened if he was Brasilian, Italian, Spanish or some other country like that, but he's Peruvian and will never shine at the highest international level (World Cup). So he will be under-rated for all his life lol.

Just a question: we never were linked with him and he never expressed any desire to come to Milan ... so why do we write about him ? lol

Sheva played only for Dinamo Kieve,how is that top level

Toni and Pirlo played only for Brescia

Rinho played for salernitana!!!!

by the way, Catania kicked our ass this year couple of time, and guess who was their best player????

Vargas was the player arguably with the most impact in Seria A this season.
Weather his good for Milan,thats a different issue...!?

what an amazing comment, so because galliani and co didnt show any interest we shouldnt either, what narrow mindidness, also we should not write about him, the fact remains true milan fans have feelings for the club, we would like to see milan at the top, this is why we discuss possible new arrivals or people who we would like here at milan.

Also GeoTav u have expressed many times that we will get 'a' striker, in my opinion its not a priority over our ageing defence and midfiled, anyhow mr X is the same as last year, non existent.

I think, what Brasileiro makes sense.

I only watched couple of his games and when I watched him, he played well. But if he is that good (?best fullback in Serie A?), why only Fiorentina did make interest in him? Where were Juve, Inter or even Milan or even other big clubs ? Juve may have good left fullback already but if Vargas is that good, Juve wont thow away the chance to sign Vargas especially in not a very high price, IMO.

Same with Inter, even Inter have many playes who can play as left fullback. If Vargas is that good, Inter should at least had Interest in him as he can play fullback or left winger (I suppose). I suppose (from the news about him), Vargas is better (if not much better) compare to Maxwell (the best Inter's left fullback regarding offensive ability).

Yeah, there was gossip about Madrid were interested in him but I do doubt this news. In Fio, if I am not mistaken, Vargas's salary in only under 1 mil euros per year. In Madrid he could earn twice even 3 times he gets in Fio.

I didnt watch him often, so I want to ask people who REALLY watched him VERY OFTEN how were his performances when Catania faced small clubs, smaller clubs (compare to Catania) and against clubs which always defends thightly against Catania.

Was Vargas good enough regarding defensive skills when his club (Catania) used normal tactic (which means not defensive tactic or tactic that help Vargas a lot when it comes to defend) or when Catania played offensive tactic?
Is Vargas that good regarnding his offensive skills when Catania faced defensive-minded clubs (clubs which useses very defensive tactic)?

Last thing that make me unsure with Vargas condition (especially after he signed with Fio) is his price. According to the praise that football websites gave to him (?best left fullback in Serie A? or even ?best fullback in Serie A?), he should be much higher than Fio paid IMO. But it seems Fio made it so easily to find agreement with Catania (long time before the market closes).

Many of these players have played for other top teams... and Internacionale is not a top level team? The same team that beat Barcelona I believe it was is not a top team?

Your misapplied logic simply doesn't make any sense.

I think Brasilero is correct here. Read what he posted. Vargas will be no different than Suazo... one great season, and then nothing the next.

Why was not Milan not even interested in him? Because there are better players out there than him.

And Catania only won against Milan in the Coppa when we played a third string team.

Edit: Before you ask, I did a little research... Inter in Brazil had a bad year this year... but for the two previous years they were in 2nd place.
