I was talking about the problems Milan and Milan lab experienced with the older players in last couple of years. Serginho did miss many matches due to injuries but i don't think Milan lab is at fault here because it's normal players not to recover as quick as they did when they were 10 years younger.

Eh that's true... well they both served us the best they could. And I wish them the best. Cafu was perhaps in better shape... in fact he is in such good condition for his age some Brazilian clubs were interested in signing him as a player.

Well gotta run.. am gonna have fun tonight... I don't really celebrate 4th of july.. but it's all cool.

Hey, you're not the only Milan fan here. I am simply asking what the reaction to the petition has been, I never voiced an opinion for or against. In my view, I still think it is odd that we are bankrolled by Italy's richest man, yet we complain about not having enough finances.

A business has a bottom line. Some are demanding we spend 70-90 million Euros. That's ridiculous.

I guess we Milan fans have come to expect big signings from the club ever since Silvio took over and brought us MVB, Gullit, Rijkaard, Baggio, Sheva, Rui Costa, Pippo, Nesta, Kaka, etc...It's just sad that now we are looking at the likes of Antonini, Abate, Boriello and land up getting top players like Flamini (only because they happen to be free) or Zambrotta towards the end of their careers. Even R10 may be coming, but simply because his form is on the down and Barca want to get rid of him. I'm used to the Milan of old where Silvio would flex his muscles and if he really wanted a player enough, would simply outbid everyone else and get him.

Yeah but dont forget that we havent spent too much over the last few mercatos. So why not make a big splash now when the team needs it? How can Bayern or Barca or Real or LIverpool afford to spend that much in one transfer window and Milan cannot?

I simply don't get this logic. You're not giving these players chances. How is it sad we are getting these players? Give them a chance. And Zambrotta is not anywhere near the end of his career. He'll last as long as Panucci who is still productive to this day.

Why do we have to make a big splash on an overrated player? We need to make the right buys. Bayern nor Real have much to show for how much money they spent. Barca have a little more with that CL title they won a few years ago, but they haven't won anything since.

Well I'm late to dinner... see you all later. Have a great night.

Bayern only spent big last summer and now they are the champions of their own league.

Real won LaLiga two years in a row, not to mention they also have one of the youngest squad among the top clubs in Europe.

Barcelona won the CL two years ago as well as La Liga the same year.

Also remember that when Milan won in the late 80s-early 90s, Silvio was breaking the bank and record transfer fee every year. When he stopped spending in the mid 90s, the team struggles and only manage to sneak by everyone(mostly beating all the small teams) to win the League only once in the late 90s. However, Silvio still did not spend much money and Milan suffers both in CL and Series A. Yes, it is true Sheva was bought in during those times, but Milan did not win much b/c most of MIlan buy at that time were bargain buy, remember Jose Mari or Redondo, not until Silvio began spending big on players like Rui Costa, Pippo, Nesta, JDT, along with players like Simic, Seedorf, Pirlo, and another big spending on Kaka. Then Milan stopped spending big again, but this time it made sense b/c the team is complete only need a few fine tuning here and there(Squad Depth). BUT it is not the case now, a lot of the players are beginning to lose a step or two, and there is no squad depth, not to mention, still without a replacement of Sheva.

Yes, Abate, Antonini, Flamini and Zambro are great and it is a huge step from last year already. But if it is true that Abate is gone on loan, then what happen to squad depth.
Also why are players like Emerson, Simic, Brocchi and Favalli are still in the squad. Instead, Milan should have gotten back Sammarco and Mazarrotti.

it's nothing to do with new mercato but the talk about Paloschi and Pirlo.

http://www.transfermarketweb.com/?ac...ad&idsel=19984

dunno why i always like Paloschi. loan him to Lecce seems like the proper way to raised him considering he still very young and talented. not to mention to degrade Boriello's quality but somehow i more like what Paloschi'd done with Milan in his short time than what Boriello'd done with Milan (despite his good perfomance with Genoa). seems pitty not to see him in the squad next season

I dont' think spending big guarantees any results. Real Madrid fell to Roma in the CL, yet spend far more than Roma from what I hear. No squad depth? I do see depth, though I think it can be improved (and it is being improved).

Real Madrid won 2 league titles in a row. What has Roma won? A Coppa Italia? Would Bayern have won their league if they didnt invest in Toni, Ribery, and Klose? Would Milan have won 2 CLs if we hadnt bought Nesta, Pippo, Kaka, Sheva, etc? At some point, we have to spend money if we want to remain competitive. Signings like Boriello and Antonini may be fine tuning if we had just won the league or CL, but not in a year when we finished 5th and need an overhaul. It's disgraceful.

Another question for you Giancarlo, if Milan actually spent some money last summer and got the likes of Ribery or Toni or both----do you honestly think we'd still finish 5th in the league and get kicked out of CL at the 2nd round?

I agree with you in these two things.
