But if you let debt pile up and you start borrowing to pay for players it can become a problem. That's why I view Liverpool as perhaps one of the most problematic in European football... they are managed extremely poorly.

Yes, I admit I want to see major signings... and the fact that it appears that we revived our run for Adebayor and outbid Barcelona seems to be encouraging... if we could sign Adebayor and Ronaldinho I would be a very happy person. Ronaldinho looks more likely than ever because of the fact that Laporta is staying...

I've read he has scored a few for his club in Brazilian Serie A... like 4 in 8 games...

http://www.goal.com/en/Articolo.aspx?ContenutoId=764687

He starred for Portuguesa, destroying defenses right and left on his way to netting 29 goals with 18 in 24 games in the league. These statistics were good enough to earn him the honour of being the top scorer in the Serie B for that season. He was consequently named the best player in Serie B by the FBA. His goal scoring helped Portuguesa to finish third and gain promotion to the Brazilian top division. Currently, he has already scored four goals in eight games in the top flight.

Not gonna quote your post, because it becomes repetitive...but in response. Yeah we dont ever want to be in a liverpool-like situation. but i read alot of posts from people, (warro for example) applauding management for not wanting debt, and its getting kind of ridiculous. milan has ran debt before, and will again in the future. Its part of football business, it goes through cycles. you never want it out of control, but we arent in danger of that anytime soon.

Whats more important is keeping your club on top and winning. Keeping the value high. See comparing milan to lazio or leeds financially is ridiculous, because milans name carries way more weight. AC Milan is a branded name. Any football aficionado will list milan in a list of top 10 most prestigious clubs in the world. If berlusconi wanted to sell milan, alot of rich men all around the world would jump the opportunity, regardless of Milans debt.

Leonardo hopes for Prem purchase
Monday 7 July, 2008
Milan technical director Leonardo claims that the Rossoneri are still chasing Premier League stars Didier Drogba and Emmanuel Adebayor.

The world champions’ striker hunt has been derailed somewhat by the vast price tags on some of their targets.

While Vice-President Adriano Galliani has confessed that the Diavolo are short of funds, Leonardo is more optimistic.

“It’s no secret that we’re interested in signing a forward and we are looking at candidates,” he told BBC Sport.

“Drogba is a fine player and I really like Adebayor. We are just waiting for the right time to make a move.”

However, Leonardo did conclude by accepting that finance may be a problem if they want to land one of Europe’s sought-after marksmen.

“We have to accept that the incomes of the top English and Spanish teams are greater than they are in Italy and it’s very hard for us to compete,” he admitted.

“But we can offer other things. We have a first-class environment for players and a wonderful history.”

Lets get back to the transfer season. We have vastly different views on the way the club should be operated.

BTW, if you are wondering we did outbid Barcelona for Adebayor... and the fact I don't think Adebayor wants to stay could accelerate any talks.

He's not my idol. I'm a supporter of Berlusconi. I'm actually quite indifferent about Galliani.

Wow Athletico got Sinima Pongolle....that kid is a great striker.....He, Fernando Torres and Carlos Teves were in Trinidad for the U-17 World Cup. France won it and Pongolle was a FAR better player than either Torres or Teves. He hasn't lived up to half of his potential but seems to be improving every season in Spain....maybe he could come here later on

No way ... he's a player who was one of the best in young teams but he will just be a good/average player, one who will always play for some mid-table teams (or mid/high, but not the best teams) ...

Exactly what I was thinking when I read this.

He laid it all out.

Seems like they're waiting till later on hoping that maybe someone snatches one of the African strikers and the others might be let go from their teams on the cheap. i.e Eto goes to Chelsea...we'd pounce on Drobga. Makes sense.

Leonardo is the freakin MAN!!!

yeah its a double edged sword. it'd be nice to get them sooner for preseason training... but the later it goes, the cheaper it'll be. I think we know which will prevail. I just want dinho signed.... I want him and kaka to start developing chemistry... also so i never have to see seedorf in a trquarista role again
