Defence : he said we're fine in other areas of the team. He said that Maldini's test confirm he's nowhere near his professional decline.

Keepers: Dida was shown the exit door a few months ago , but Galliani said that Dida asked him to stay, and Dida is convinced to strike back on top form. I read between the lines that releasing Dida would have costed much on the balance. Abbiati had several offers from Palermo and Atletico but wanted to stay too.

Abate: he said we could keep him, but he would struggle in a 4-3-1-2 or 4-3-2-1 line up, because he's more suited for the 4-4-2.
We could keep him and try to make a right back out of him, or loan him to another club.

Galliani said that Berlu will pour in 50 million euros because of the rising salaries and Uefa cup.

Regarding Ronaldingo, he made an interesting analogy. He said that a lot things change in football. He said that you cannot have caviar and salmon in the refrigerator. Instead you can have mortadella (some kind of cured pork sausage) in the fridge and still make a good dish out of it. He probably means that Ronaldinho is not the 'caviar' he used to be, but he still is a quality sausage and you can still make a good dish out of it.

... and he also reiterated the usual BS of economic condition, Boriello, Flamini, Zambrotta. That being said, I would be happy with our transfer campaign, if we got Ronaldinho/Adebayor.
I have an analogy for him... If a husband and wife are married for 10 years and on the 10th he stops adequately supporting her...is she right to leave him? Should she exist on nothing or next to nothing because he spoiled her in the past? Should she starve when he could more than adequately provide for her as well as he does for his outside women? Even though the bible refers to the husband as the 'owner' it encourages them to love their wives as they love themselves

That wife failed to qualify for CL, so the husband is already suffering greater costs.
More: the husband is still paying for her, but those costs are less visible for the neighbourhood.

Take my metaphor (taken by Beppe Severgnini books) :
the main difference between italian working class and english working class is that the italian worker spend all his money to buy a super car and put it in front of the house, while the english worker spend all of them in the garden on the backyard.
This means you can spend the same amount of money, but there are visible money and non visible ones. Wages are a big example, taxes another. Missed income is another one.

Naturally if your wife is STARVING....she can't .....er.....er perform can she?...and she was ALWAYS a high maintenance woman since before you met her so why is it suddenly an issue?

from wikipedia...

"AC Milan, fresh from winning the 2003 Champions League, brought him aboard in 2003 for $8.5 million, a fee described in hindsight as "peanuts" by club owner Silvio Berlusconi.[7] "

I think the difference between us and chelsea is that chelsea have stocked like 3 world-class players for every position...no other club can realistically do that.
the difference between us and manyoo is that SAF puts alot of faith in youth, he splashes out on it and then puts them in; he also is an incredible motivator, so the players are almost afraid if they don't perform. i don't think that wes brown, john o'shea, darren fletcher, or ji sun park are that great, but he gets the best out of them. plus, he's been incredibly fortunate to have scholes, giggs and neville (up to this year) be like 12 year starters. we've only got maldini in this respect. i know giancarlo will say that SAF sucks because he only won 2 CL's, but he's shown over time that he can build and rebuild, play with different formations, and get the best out of players. i don't think SAF would tolerate alot of what milan showed last year on the pitch.
but the point is, we're milan. we do it our way, and we do it very successfully. i wish we could have more young players, i wish we could have a different formation, i wish we could have more youth players on the up and up that will play for 15 years, but at the end of the day i'm happy with what we have, and i know that we'll continue to experience success.

Italy is not England. I can't see Milan not winning anything for a decade with the same coach. In England it was possible. In Italy after a few bad games Pato was already questioned.
The pressure in Italy once the game is over is incredible. That's why only some kind of players succeed in italian football: they get the best out of them under pressure, while others get lost.

I am hugely interested in this issue, as it there is no question that many of the Milan fans are impatient, and upset at the lack of spending.

Glad Galliani decided to "clear the air"...yet since there is no way to satisfy allthe fans, it all actually brings a smile to my face.

I for one, would never want to see Adebayor signed insteadof R10.

That would make me extremely upset...as IMO, R10 is 100x the player Adebayor is..

And I am one of the more relaxed, tolerant, koolaid sipping fans!

The more I think on it, the less I want to be at the head of a huge organisation...too many people wanting too many different things, and few, if any, being satisfied.

If we only buy R10 and say, maybe $heva....then we will have the masses screaming for a CD and a GK...

U really cant please all the people all the time.

I say this to Berlu:

Do what you will bossman...its ur club, and for 20 years you have given us unqualified success...u know what you are doing.

I just sell drugs (pharmaceuticals to be exact ) for a living. I cannot imagine that I am better at it than you.

Warro, spot on with your post...spot on.
I think MOST fans would be happy to see a mercato which reinforces the things that we need, to be not so reactionary with our market, and to honestly assess what the issues with the squad are. We don't want games, smokescreens, hot air, 180%, Mr. X, Mr. Y, etc...
Milan fans are not fairweather, so we'll be content to build, as long as building is taking place.

Crespo was supposed to cause chaos? (assuming he was the mister x of last year)....well, let's give an applause to the management for not hearing Carlo in this one (if it's true), else we would be stuck with another old and always injured player in our team (and we probably wouldn't have bought Pato, considering the high payroll he would have received). We dodged a bullet there.

I like Adebayor, but I really really hope Arsenal is willing to sell him to a more decent and adecuate price, he simply is not worth that much. On the other hand, I'll keep insisting on Hamsik, make an offer for him (a good one, not a cheap one), lets see what Napoli thinks about it, if they say no, ok, at least we tried.

In all honesty, even if we have had a better mercato than the one in the past 2 seasons, I'm really getting scared of teams like Genoa, Napoli, Samp,Fiorentina (and of course Juve, Roma and Inter), they might be smaller teams and their players might not be as high profiled as ours, but they all have reinforced their teams in the areas they needed to reinforce (maybe Fiorentina needs another defender while Genoa needs a #9). Maybe it's the "grass is always greener" attitude, but I'm not one that tends to see things that way. We need at least 2 more players (between a GK, a forward, a CD and a more offensive type of midfielder) to be almost a certain for the #4 spot.

I did read on football365.com's blurb that Galliani mentioned Pavlychenko...haven't seen this anywhere else though.
