I hate to rain on more parades, but even Pato is not someone we can definitely hang our hats on. He had alot of issues of either giving the ball up/holding the ball too long, and also had some injuries. I have no doubt his enthusiasm will be there, and his skill is without a doubt, but he still has a long way to go to mature into a lethal striker in the mold of sheva.
One of the biggest problems we have is our lack of really frightening attacking options. As many have stated, when Gattuso and Ambro are in the mid, teams don't even bother with them as they are not offensively feared and can focus on Pirlo, thus shutting down our transition; they do the same with Kaka' because we usually only had one striker, and a tepid one at that (Gila). If Carlo can just get over his nervousness and play a bit more of an offensive lineup, we'll be much better. Flamini is key I think, because he is much better on the ball than Rino and players will have to respect him, opening up Pirlo. I really don't think we are going to go into the mercato anymore so I'm trying to monkey around with the players that we have and try to come up with the best options. |

At this time I will gamble on Viudez and Cardaccio. Will the mgmts keep them? Viudez is an attacking player who could play as a striker. We could make him a duet with Pippo or Pato. Seedorf could substitute Kaka for a while. Bonera and Kaladze could be a temporary pair at the back, with Maldini fills the boots sometimes, don't forget Ambrosini LOL.
At this time, that's all we could do, unless we're still hoping for the mgmts to splash some million bucks on a world-class striker like Berbatov or Eto'o, which highly unlikely will happen. We could cover our attack with the players I mentioned above or maybe still trying for Sheva (or Suazo maybe if Merda decides to offload him), but now it's clear that we desperately need something at the backline. Our brothers Merda are in trail of Marquez according to goal.com... Why won't we snap him now, for it is indicated that he's not in Pep's plan... Besides, Merda have already got Radoi.

^^^ We don't know how good either of those guys are though. Let's hope Carlo gives them a run in the upcoming friendlies so we can determine whether they're good enough to keep.

Yeah let's hope so. Galliani said that there'll be no more signing so now we must be content of what we have, which, despite all the injuries, doesn't make me feel pessimist about the new season. Forza Milan!

Some news on a YOUNG defender
http://www.goal.com/en/Articolo.aspx?ContenutoId=809326 I remember this was the guy that everyone wanted last year, but I haven't heard about him since. Has anyone ever seen him play? Is he good (as in better than Kaladze or Bonera)? |

A couple of points:
1) mis-steps in Mercato? Whoever says it is speaking it on hindsight. Ronaldinho, Flamini, and Zambrotta are all useful, if not important, additions to the squad. Saying that these are mis-steps are just crazy. 2) Buying R80 is a wrong move? Well, if it were a wrong move, it happened when Milan decided to sell Gilardino; if Milan didn't sell Gilardino, then R80 would not come. It's obvious. R80 is the MOST urgent to buy at that time; we still had defenders at that time (though easily injured) but we don't have ANYONE up front except Pato and Kaka`. Buying Ronaldinho, or any other strikers, was the most sensible and important step. These clearly show that people are just speaking on hindsight. Ridiculous. People are making a big fuss about the team that some of these fans have to take a gratitude lesson. Milan has bought in total more than 8 players; are we going to just switch every player except perhaps keeping Pirlo and Kaka`? That seems like what people are really advocating.... |

Corluka is now in London at the hotel and is expected to sign for Tottenham very soon. For about 7-9 mln!
Someone in Man.City is crazy and someone in Milan is even crazyer not to buy him now. He showed milion times he can play. In City and in EURO. At 22 years of age, a player that was recomended to Milan by Boban and Naletilic, a player that will be world class defender in 2 years and can play CB and RB. Even played as a DM, but we REALLy dont need that ![]() We are making a mistake and letting a player that can play for Milan without problems, believe me. He is the kind of intelligend defender that Bonera and Kaladze arent.

your answer is in your question ![]() Here is a recent interview with Seedorf taken from acmilan.com MILANELLO - Here are the declarations made today by Clarence Seedorf, who talked during a press conference at the Milanello sporting center: ON THE NEW PURCHASES "If we look at the names of the players who have arrived at Milan, they are important names, already affirmed players. Today's group, including the new arrivals, is a nice group, there are also a lot of new players who will have to learn and grow. It will be an important year in which we will aim to win the league and the Uefa Cup, these new arrivals have brought a lot of enthusiasm and this is perceptible." ON HIS CONDITION "Generally in my career, also in past seasons, I have always managed to get into shape quickly. I am always motivated at the start of every season because there are always important things to win, and we must never lose our motivation. It's crucial to always stay at high levels." ON THE DEFEAT AGAINST CHELSEA "I haven't really followed the criticism made after the match against Chelsea, I enjoyed my days of rest, but I still think the criticism is right, they are good for a team which aims to win the league and be dominant in Europe. We know that after a defeat like that there is always criticism. And it's better that they come now there are still three weeks to go before the start of the season. Nowadays there are no more easy friendlies, they are all real matches and everytime you go on the pitch you have to give the maximum. Then it can happen to lose, but for us it was a moment which will give us the opportunity to work better and have new motivation. In general it's not nice to lose, but we cannot make a drama of it because when a team plays as well as Chelsea did against us it can happen to lose, but in this case it was the dimensions of our defeat which was the problem and we have reflected on this. But this team is still very proud and in the past there has always been a strong reaction after difficult moments or bad defeats. After the Moscow Tournament defeat us players have already analysed our errors and we have turned the page. Certainly we did not do well against Chelsea. Now we will try to do our job the best way. During training I notice the group's enthusiasm. We are not afraid, on the contrary. We are all working to be ready for the start of the league and three weeks are a long time. Milan have the players to be competitive, there are not only 11, also the others who can be used by the coach. ON RONALDINHO AND TEAM-MATES "In the past I always said that a player like Ronaldinho is a player with whom I would have liked to play for a long time. When we met Barcelona we exchanged the shirts and I told him that I hoped he would arrive soon. I'm really happy that he arrived. "Everyone wanted Ronaldinho and apart from him other players arrived like Borriello, Flamini and Zambrotta. I believe that the club made the right choices, then the market is not closed yet, but these decisions are taken by Dr. Galliani. He's the one who decides. The squad is competitive and complete just like it has been in the past years. "The Trofeo Tim was a nice demonstration, we had a very good performance. We are all used to hear just the negative things which surely serve to grow up, but from the morale level we must also remember the positive things. Also, against Juve, who started ahead of us in the preparation, we played a good game, playing 45 minutes at high level. "I don't think that it's difficult to make players like Seedorf, Ronaldinho and Kaka play together. During these days many options have been made, but I think that in the 2002/03 season players like Rivaldo,Rui Costa, Inzaghi, Sheva and Pirlo played together, therefore I don't see why there should be a problem now. If I remember well in that year we won something." ON THE SITUATION OF THE DEFENSIVE DEPARTMENT "Nesta will soon return, but apart from him in the Milan squad there are players like Simic and Bonera who respectively play in the Croatian and Italian national team. Then there's Maldini, Kaladze, Digao and Darmian, who just returned and I believed that he's a hot prospect. "With regards to Kaka's situation, there is a bit of worry, because if during the preparation period one does not have the right tranquility, I believe that it is right to take the necessary time to return at hundred percent and then be available for the squad. It's right that he takes time because he is young and cannot risk of ruining his career. "The mistakes which have been highlighted in the defensive department by the coach following the game against Chelsea must only be taken into account. I believe that in the last years, despite all of these defects, we have shown to be a solid tam. For me not only the defensive phase is important, but also the offensive one. "Between Kaka and Dr. Meersseman there was no discussion, but it can happen that in life two people have two different opinions, nothing else, but this must not be taken as a controversy." --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- So did Kaka want to do a different surgery than the one Dr. Meersseman recommended? This could be because of their failure with Ronaldo's injury, and Ronaldo decided to go to see his own doctor in Brazil. Seems like they are trying to find someone to blame for Kaka's injury. Ronaldinho was a good buy period, there is no way you guys can say that he was a bad buy already. He hasn't played one game in a Milan shirt yet, stop jumping to conclusions. Thank god Gila is not here because he was nothing but a ![]() Other news is that Alex Silva's agent has denied any rumours to Milan saying that there has been no official offer yet. We also seem to be hot on Ivanovic, which I dont get. If Carlo's favourite defender is Alex, and both Ivanovic and him are on Chelsea's bench, why not go for Alex? Ivanovic was bought 6 months ago for a pretty high fee I think. |

According to Wiki, Ivanovic was bought from Chelsea for 13 million in January 2008. Ovbiously we'd rather have Alex, but we're too cheap to get a player like that - and I doubt Chelsea would want to sell or loan him.

That making fun of the management when they say 'the market is closed' is actually naive. It's obvious, from past experiences, that you should never truts a single word that Galliani said.
We are talking about transfer for the best (and sometimes hidden) players. Getting the right player at the right place at the right time for the right amount is not as easy as it sounds. If Galliani said, "No we are not closed yet" that will only unsettle players in departments where reinforcement is not made. In fact, if he keeps saying that 'we are buying more' it's contradictory to Milan's philosophy where they are imaged to be a 'caring' organization (or football team). Imagine if you are Bonera, hoping to get some times to play, only to be told that, "We are buying two more players, in defense" what's the signal? Yes, our defense is not strong enough. Well we all know that; probably Bonera knows that too, but the Milan management shows that they care about player's feeling. And do'tn tell me that caring about player's feelings is not important in the football world. You have seen how some terrible treatment of people have lead to disastrous results.
