Serbia is NOT in the EU. So yes, I think we will be using a non-EU spot if the transfer goes through, unless there is a different rule about loaned players.

Here's where I read 4.5 million. Whether its 4.0 or 4.5, it doesn't really matter- he's overpaid either way.

And if I remember correctly, Dida was holding out for more money and if Milan didn't re-sign him, then he would have gone to Barca on a free.

We signed both Uruguayans, which means I guess one of them has to go to make way for Ivanovic (if we get him). And there is NO chance of us getting Alex - just forget about it.

Simic leaving is the probably the biggest news for Milan this summer, yes, even bigger than R80 coming.

Now if the rest of the frightful five will leave, and replace with better players, Milan will really rule the transfer market.

Well, he's similar to Simic in the options he offers. He plays CB, RB or DM (I've heard he can play Right Wing too but have never seen it myself). He's Serbian and has been one of the most promising young defenders in Europe for a couple of years. That is to say, he was one of the most promising until he went to Chelsea, where he's never actually played! Why this is no one really can be sure, but the official word is he apparently lacked match fitness as the Russian league had just finished when he joined.

I also read he considers himself better than Alex and Carvalho, saying he has more to offer (partly true due to his versatility). Well, if he joins us lets hope he can do what he says, not just talk.

In a recent interview Carlo said:

- Yes we played bad in pre-season but he expects us to do much better when our players are all back. We will play the 4-3-3. (he means 4-3-2-1 or 4-3-1-2 obviously)
- Cardacio is already ready (meaning he will probably stay for next season)
- Kaka will be ready soon and Nesta is improving (makes it sound as if all great in the world)
- At the moment the starting goal keeper will be Abbiati
- He expects a great season from Pato
- Doesnt worry him that Dinho is not training with them, because he will return to Milanello in top condition after the Olympics
- Mourinho is a nice guy and needs to use less irony in public newspapers
- Inter are the favourites for the Scudetto. Juve had a good transfer campaign. Napoli will be the surprise team.

He didnt mention anything on the market..but Gazzetta says that tomorrow (13/8) Galliani will go to London for the final assault on Ivanovic. Everyone at Via Turati is optimistic about this deal.

Oh boy how I wish we end up with Alex.

All the reports say Ivanovic has saked to play for Milan and the deal will be reached. Loan+randson ( how bad does it sound! HAHAHA! ), or a deal straight away - we'll see.

Hitmann, when Galliani and Carlo talk everything sounds great! Even Falavvi is ready and doing great in training, while Digao is improving his..I dont know...speed?

Seriousely, that meand Cardaccio is a Pirlo replacement, we'll see how that goes.

Why on earth are we signing no hopers like Seedrof Jnr and Clarence's circus performing mate Esajasjajsjsjas? The way we bow down to him is a joke and what kind of signal does it send out to the Primavera players? Sorry lads, unless you're related/friend of a senior player you won't make the team! Absolutely pathetic. Maybe they'll sign me seeing as i've watched Milan on tv before, that's almost as strong a link as Chedric's.

I hate to be a wet blanket, but I'm not sure this Ivanovic deal will happen. I was looking at Chelsea's roster. Aside from Ivanovic, they only have Terry, Carvalho and Alex. 3 CBs for a team that will play 38 EPL games along with about a dozen CL games, plus all the Carling Cup and FA Cup games too. I just don't believe that Chelsea would want to sell/loan him.

Chelsea sold Ben Haim, so by default Ivanovic moved up the depth chart. The player is unhappy about lack of playing time, but you have to assume that playing time will be more available to him this season. Chelsea can convince him to stay by reminding him about BenHaim's departure. I hope I'm wrong, but I got a bad feeling that this deal isn't going to happen.

It's not all bad news though. At the very least, us selling Simic means we will probably get a CB before the month is over. If not Ivanovic, then maybe one of the Silva's?

Ivanovic led the Serbian u21 team to two u21 euro finals and last summer on the u21 championship he was the best defender of the euro and, of course, made it to the team of the euro.
He's a regular for the Serbian NT and forms a brilliant CB partnership with Vidic.

Last summer he was rumored to join Juve so we, juve fans, followed him a lot until he went to Chelsea and he never disappointed on the matches we've seen. One of his qualities i like, apart from being very intelligent when plays the defense, is his ability to score goals. I had the luck to watch him on the matches where he was scoring goals (vs Portugal NT, Milan friendly last summer etc).

As for why he didn't play for Chelsea at all...it's easy to explain. I've seen him play and i'm sure that it has nothing to do with him not being good enough. The problem is that the Russian season just finished when he joined Chelsea and he lacked fitness, after playing football for the whole spring, summer and autumn.
Until the time he was ready to play, Chelsea were in a situation where they were fighting to win both EPL and CL and every match was a must win for them. Grant had to use Carvalho-Terry in every single match because he didn't want to risk anything. Even Alex wasn't getting much (any) chances in these later stages of the season.

Double posting, sorry !

I think that Scolari brought some Brazilian CB from PSV Eindhoven so now they have 5 cb's (Terry, Alex, Carvalho, Ivanovic and the brazilian guy) and they already have 3 Rb's (Bosingwa, Ferreira, Belleti).
I'm sure Scolari will use Bosingwa or Ferreira on the right side because he knows them well from the Portugues NT, and for CB the captain Terry and the other Portugues legend Carvalho, well known to Scolari, have a guaranteed spot in the team.

It will take a miracle Ivanovic to gain a starting spot in Chelsea, no matter how well he plays. That's why he wants to leave. He knows his qualities and he knows that he can become one of world's best defenders, but he also knows that he'll never get a chance in Chelsea.

Milan are well renowned as a family club, but Steve Wilson thinks their latest nepotistic signing has taken things too far
How far should you go to keep your employees happy? For Milan the answer appears to be to throw money at the friends and families of their superstars in order to keep them with a smile on their faces. The Rossoneri have recently offered a contract to Chedric Seedorf - the younger brother of midfielder Clarence. But is this really the way to run a successful club? For me this tendency is starting to become something of a joke.

The best punch line has already been written though by the Diavoli, and once again it involved Seedorf. Back in 2004 his close friend Harvey Esajas was offered a contract by the San Siro side while on a visit to the Dutchman, at the time he had been out of the game for three years and was working in a Spanish circus. With the signing of Kaka's brother Digão last term as well it has become something of a bizarre and all too regular trend at the club.

In 2007 the fear was that Real Madrid would tempt away Kaka, so the arrival of his sibling was a way to keep him sweet. This year the arrival of Ronaldinho reportedly put Seedorf in a spin, so again the resolution appears to have been to do the pouting primadonna a nepotistic favour. Shouldn't the honour of playing for Milan be enough for these men without having to get little treats to keep them happy? And how much self-respect can Seedorf Jnr have?

The 25-year-old has been through the youth systems at Ajax, Real Madrid and Inter - notice the common link between that trio - and his previous spell in Italy saw him at Legnano, where the chairman is his big bro's former Milan teammate Marco Simone. You can count the number of games he has played professionally on a polydactyl's hand. There can be absolutely no question at all that he wouldn't be in the Milan squad based on his own merit.

Most likely he will follow in the footsteps of Esajas and Digão and will make a cameo appearance when Milan enter the Coppa Italia in November. But what does that say to the real Primavera players who have worked hard to get within touching distance of the first XI? When pulling out of the Dutch Euro 2008 squad Seedorf spoke of wanting to protect his integrity. Where are those oh-so-important principles now as he makes a mockery again of the institution that pays his wages?
-----------

About Ivanovic not playing a single match, it cant be because he was unfit. Tony, you mention he signed just after the end of the Russian season. He cant then be unfit, tired maybe. But surely a week or two would be enough for him to get rested. Im still curious why he hasnt played for Chelsea yet. Even Gourcuff played more and thats saying something!

This blog article is a stupid nonsence that has nothing to do with football. Milan has players and some "players", its the regular stuff. No need to make fuss about it.

I hope we will sign Ivanovic, as its usual thing with Milan that once we manage to get the palyers wish to join us, he eventually finds himself in Milanello. In few days I expect him as a Milan palyer. I've heard great things about him, hope he can prove that soon.
