18 days left until the transfer window closes.

Seems that the only active rumours revolve around the Ivanovic loan deal.

Anything else floating about?

Read somewhere that Nesta might be fit for the start of the campaign. Assuming that is accurate and Nesta remains injury free, how much match time would Ivanovic get?

Wouldn't he be in the same position that he is currently in then?

I think he'd still fancy his chances against Kaladze or Bonera for a starting spot, never mind he can play right back where his competition will be Zambrotta (who can easily be moved over to the left to replace a defensively very poor Jankulovski) and Oddo (quite frankly hasn't been good enough).

Bonera for me should be given a starting spot this year, either in CB or RB depending on where we decide to use other players (he's been very good in both roles in recent months). Jankulovski, Oddo and Kaladze have not been at all convincing at the back and so for me they aren't anything more than squad players. Should Ivanovic come, then I'd like to see:

Bonera - Ivanovic - Nesta - Zambro

Or

Ivanovic - Nesta - Bonera - Zambro

With the bench being Oddo, Janku, Kaladze, Digao, Antonini, Favalli.

I've not factored in Maldini as he's still capable as a starter, but cannot play too frequently. Therefore, it's more realistic to see him being used sparingly off the bench, but he could well start a number of games this season (rotating with Bonera, Zambro and Ivanovic).

He'll surely go straight into a starting position because Nesta & Kaladze are injured. Plus if he's as good as everyone's saying he is then he's better than Bonera & Kaladze anyway, meaning he'll probably start alongside Nesta even if everyone else is fit.

I don't think you understand the definition of nepotism, if you did you'd see this a blatant case of it. What annoys me more is the fact that we keep having to do these things to keep Seedorf and other players happy. Shouldn't playing for us and wearing our shirt be enough? Are we such a weak club that we give into player demands just to keep up their egos? The fact that alot of you seem to accept it happily is possibly even more annoying. There's the whole 'family' thing, but this is still a professional club, not a drop in for friends and circus performers.

I would rather see

Zambrotta - Nesta - Ivanovic - Antonini

with Bonera & Jankulovski on the bench.

Jim, dont think Im for nepotism man! Its disgusting. But this is not nepotism in Milan. Im sure there are some kind of good reasons why are things like that in Milan. "Milan family" is the reason why Carlo is still a coach, why Maldini is still a player, why Billy was player for so long, why Cafu and Sergio were for so long in here, why Sheva was sold when he wanted to, why Gattuso has right to go to Galliani's office and demand new players or he'll leave, why Dida is payed 4mln to do nothing and still stay in the club for this season, and so on...many unprofessional things have been hapopening in Milan, but that IS Milan. Its a club that does those things, and so does let some friends and brothers that are "football players" to train with AC Milan. If that helps important players like Kaka' and Seedorf to live better and play better - that it is ok. I hope you understood me. Its not economic, you work with people in here, and some flexibility is needed sometimes.

EDIT:

On Ivanovic: Yesterday I talked to a friend of mine who knows Ivanovic's football very well. He said to me that he is a player that is class above Bonera and Kaladze. That he is fast, technical and smart player, unlike Bonera and Kaladze who are playing on strenght. Ivanovic can play RB, CB and also DM with good ratings. Its not patriotism just to mention, he is Serbian, we are from Croatia. But many great things I've heard about this player from his playing days for Serbia and Lokomotiv. Maybe he just had a faith like Sheva in Chelsea.

Must feel real good being a dedicated primavera defender, only to see every chance for a defensive test taken up by Digao in every friendly/coppa game. Its pathetic. Stop blindly defending the team. If Materazzi had a kid brother in Inter's squad who plays **** and is used in friendlies, you'll be all over that. Be fair and critical. Otherwise you're just a dumb follower. You're not a dumb follower are you?

About the keyboard. If you're making errors because you're typing too fast, that means you're not good at it. Slow down. Reading your posts can sometimes be pretty irritating.

I don't know. I never felt like Bonera was ever comfortable offensively. He's not that fast, can hardly dribble past anyone, and his crossing isn't THAT good. He's better than Oddo, but that isn't saying much. I'd rather we concentrate of using him as a CB and keep the RB position for more offensive players. I've never seen Ivanovic play, so I can't judge. But I hope he's faster than Bonera/Kala. We've been punished on the counter far too often last season.

Okay. Based on your assessment of what nepotism means, when would you declare that Milan have crossed the line from a family atmosphere to a nepostic wonderworld? What would they have to do for you to think that?

Bonera is not the kind of right back we need. He can be useful as a centre back. I would rather Milan buy Ivanovic or not take him at all. The last thing we need is a young talented defnder to come to Milan and sort out our problems only for Chelsea to take him back.

Your majesty my apologies for that. I reccomend you dont read my posts in the future so you dont get irritated and you stay healthy and calm and beautifull.

I dont think Digao has ever stoped some young primavera CB ( that is good enough to play for Milan ) to come to the first team. Galliani is not an idiot, he works in there for 20+ years, he knows his job.

Seedorf's brother will never play for Milan and has nothing to do with young players, so didnt have Seedorf's friend who was in Milan also few years ago. Ba was here to train a bit and he will be Milan's scout for France and Africa...

Nepotism would become real nepotism if some of the cousns, brothers or whatever should start playing regular football and really interfeering in Milan's results and development of the club. That is not the case in here.

Personally, I dont like it either, but the thing that I dont like even more is the fact that in our club there are players like Brocchi, Favalli, Cafu and Sergio ( before ), Emerson, Fiori (???is he still here)... those players dont deserve to be in Milan and they do block young primavera players. Also, the reason Carlo is a coach in here is that he keeps that relaxed atmosphere in Milanello, that relies on individual brilliance which we DO have in our squad, rather then on hard work ( like Juve ). You think Cappello would say yes to Favalli, Digao, Emerosn, Dida, Kalac, Oddo, Simic, Brocchi? No way, and that is why coaches like Mourinho, Cappello are not here. This club is runned by Berlusconi&Galliani and they are doing it very sucesfully, we need to say that no matter how we ( me personally ) dislike some mercato moves, some players, Kaka's brother, the coach and so on...

brk - I actually like almost all of your posts, but complaining about someone's grammar on a post board is totally unnecessary. We don't need a grammar police here at MM.
