We understand eacthother, I was just saying that Milan did wright thing with Kaladze and Sheva. Milan selling Sheva was a fair deal, chelsea has themselves to blame for not knowing how to play an extraterrestrial forward like Shevchenko was/is(?). I dont think its about loosing 1 or 2 mln, Milan would pay 2 mln more if they really wanted to. Its something else in my oppinion. And if I remember correctly, Naletilic said that the deal was ment to be 2mln+12 mln ransone next year - so it is 14mln. But Chelsea dont want to sell AT ALL, and Milan doesnt want to loan a player only. Anyway, it over, Abramovic can go to hell. Milan will do just fine, we just need to be carefull in the next defender we choose. Brasiliaro talker highly about Thiago Silva, there is Zapata, there is a strong CB as Alex Silva, Corluka is on his way out ( things complicated with City and Tottenham like with Milan and Chelsea) and so on... Maybe Naletilic can make Corluka deal happen, he already tryed to convinge Galliani last year.

I could be wrong, or maybe I could be right.
hey, do you feel me enthusiast? Now there is a verified physical absence in defence - uncle fester would like to see Ambro in the center of our defence !!!!! - , so it's sure that no one of the youngsters are able to play in the first team (it's a shame and a total failure for our youth system), so even Stendardo is welcome, now. It is not my fault if we are living this situation of money impotence. The problem of money was knew, so - an example - the board has acted consciously like fool when Gattuso was wanted by Bayern for 20 mil. €. Now we would have had the possibility to buy and instead of R10 - another example - I would have preferred Lavezzi . To me, this Milan situation is all already studied, it is all wanted, there are nothing of fortuitous since the moment the horrible psyco gnome has taken Italy by the scruff of the neck . Differently, how can explain our absurd situation? Do you really think Braida and all the board became suddenly mad? take a look at our past market, summer 2007: MILAN Allenatore: Ancelotti (confermato) Arrivi: Matri, a (Rimini) fine prestito; Donati, c (Atalanta) fine prestito; Abate, c (Modena) fine prestito; Sammarco, c (Chievo) fine prestito; Novinic, c (Nafta Lendava) 0,1; Marzeglia, c (Carrarese) fine prestito; Abbiati, p (Torino) fine prestito; Coppola, p (Piacenza) fine prestito; Ba, c (disoccupato) 0; Digao, d (Rimini) fine prestito; Pato Alexandre, a (Internacional Porto Alegre) 22 mln utilizzabile da january 08; Emerson, c (Real Madrid) 5 mln Partenze: Matri, a (Cagliari) 2,3 mln comproprietà; Costacurta, d fine carriera; Donati, c (Celtic) 2 mln; Borriello, a (Genoa) 1,8 mln comproprietà; Sammarco, c (Sampdoria) 1,2 mln comproprietà; Abbiati, p (Atletico Madrid) prestito; Di Gennaro, a (Bologna) prestito; Coppola, p (Atalanta) prestito; Grimi, d (Siena) prestito; Marzeglia, a (Catanzaro) prestito; Ricardo Oliveira, a (Real Saragozza) prestito; Storari, p (Levante) 1 mln. Take a look how Borriello has been treated, under the money aspect. 2007 to Genoa: Borriello, A from Genoa 1,8 mln comproprietà 2008 from Genova: Borriello, A to Genoa 7 mln, risc.) We have paid him just 5,2 mil. €. for a player already ours! Great, don't you think? Last summer, Napoli bought in this way and Napoli is a good term of confrontation: Allenatore: Reja (confermato) Arrivi: Giglio, a (Gallipoli) fine prestito; Lacrimini, d (Frosinone) fine prestito; Hamsik, c (Brescia) 5,5 mln; Lavezzi, a (San Lorenzo) 6 mln; Gargano, c (Danubio) 3,5 mln; Grieco, a (Avellino) fine prestito; G. Esposito, a (Benevento) fine prestito; Schettino, c (Pro Vasto) fine prestito; Contini, d (Parma) 3,2 mln; Zalayeta, a (Juventus) 2 mln comproproprietà; Blasi, c (Juventus) 1,2 mln comproprietà. Partenze: Giubilato, d (Vicenza) 0; Trotta, c (Treviso) prestito; Amodio, c (Treviso) prestito; G. Esposito, a (Vibonese) prestito; Lacrimini, d (Ancona) prestito: Pià, a (Treviso) prestito; Bucchi, a (Siena) prestito. ...ah, I forget an important piece of our market: Grimi ![]()

Stendardo isn't a disaster but he's in no way better than Simic, imo.
If Milan only wanted to have a body in order to say that there is squad depth, then they could have easily kept Simic or Diago. Juve did take Stendardo on loan but the situation in their camp was different. They had zero central defenders available atm and they simply had to take anyone. When the cb's were back from their injuries and suspensions Stendardo didn't see playing time anymore. With Milan it's not about not having cb's but it's about not having enough quality in that department. With Nesta injured things become problematic. I really think it's just media BS and Milan aren't after Stendardo at all.

I wonder if it would be possible to get Thiago Silva on loan for a small fee with the option to buy next summer?
I don't mind us getting loan players and i believe we can get some decent players if we're bold enough to ask. I also think (as ginoformaggino has highlighted with the Napoli example) we can pick up some decent talents for small-ish fees if we're smart. But i'd prefer it if we left Stendardo & Alex Silva where they are and looked at other defensive targets first.

Its too bad the Ivanovic deal didnt work out, but Kenyon and the Chelsea board are right to look after themselves. They have been totally ripped off by Italian teams since the Abromovic era and Im sure if they had a choice they would never want to deal with another Italian club again.
Chelsea have gotten ripped off by about 60 Million with the acquisitions of Mutu, Crespo, Shevsenko. Only Crespo has been able to repay some of his services for only year. The Milanese clubs have also taken advantage by the loans of Veron and Crepso. On top of that didnt Galliani table a small bid for Shevshenco which Kenyon had a good laugh at? Maybe it would have been better off if Gallani made a reasonable bid for Ivonovic. Hes still a bright prospect and like most serbians would most likely settle into the Italian league. Can't blame Chelsea at all on this one. I'd say they would be stupid to agree this deal with us. Best thing for them is to loan Ivanovic out to a "smaller" club and get him back next year.
As for us, I'm pretty fed up with this business of looking for bargains. If we did, we'd never have gotten Nesta. If we want a replacment for Nesta and Maldini, let's damn well pay the price and get a top class defender. |

To be honest, Chelsea would be a fool to make that deal as it is too good to be true for Milan.
Galli should have just table an offer of 10M and take it from there. |

Milan have lost out on Branislav Ivanovic, so turn their attention towards Barcelona's Rafael Marquez. The Mexican international defender has been linked with them for many years, although no firm bid was ever tabled. Marquez has the versatility to suit the Rossoneri's requirements, as he can play at centre-back, right-back or defensive midfielder. The 29-year-old has been in Europe since 1999, playing for Monaco and then Barcelona in 2003. Carlo Ancelotti has urged the club to buy a new defender before the transfer window closes, as their performances in pre-season have been disastrous. Alessandro Nesta is struggling with a long-term back injury, while Dario Simic, Digao, Marcos Cafu and Serginho have left San Siro. It is also reported that Milan wish to wait until the end of next week to make a decision, as they hope the talks with Chelsea for Ivanovic can be revived. The deal fell through when Chelsea refused to give the Serie A side an option to make the loan move permanent at the end of the season. Meanwhile, transfer guru Adriano Galliani has teased rivals Inter and the fact they are in two different competitions this term. “You ask me if I would give up the Scudetto in exchange for winning the UEFA Cup in Istanbul after having knocked Inter out in the quarter-finals?” he told fans in Versilia. “That would mean that Inter went out of the Champions League after the group phase. Well, with Milan at least fourth in Serie A, I think I'd be happy with that…” |

According to channel four we haven't give up on Ivanovic just yet. If that deal wouldn't materialize we would go for Marquez.
http://www.channel4.com/sport/footba...ia/aug16g.html Allthough I think Marquez is decent signing, I do feel that he doesn't has the right age, on the other hand he all ready has the experience. Though choice but both of them are suitable. bottomline Go for Ivanovic (perhaps a loan deal with a higher fee?) but if there isn't a buy clause Marquez would be a great signing aswell.

I really hope we don't go for Marquez, he's too slow and prone to mistakes just like Kaladze, plus i think he'd be awful at right-back. Just because he's played there doesn't mean he's any good in that particular position. If we're going for an older CB i'd rather see us go for Luccio, he's a much better all round defender.
I'll keep my fingers crossed and hold onto the 1% chance of us getting either Ivanovic, Zapata or Thiago Silva.

This is what Carlo Ancelotti said at a press conference today regarding our transfer plans:
"The club want to reinforce the central defensive department, but they only want a good defender and not a second-rate player. Unfortunately, however, the best players usually aren't allowed to leave by their clubs" "[Rafael] Marquez has the right characteristics and experience, but I don't think Barcelona will sell him." -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- So it seems management (or at least Ancelotti) understands our most urgent need, i.e. strengthening our central defence with a quality defender. The question is if they passed their chance by not getting Ivanovic - is it probable we'll get someone else, someone not inferior? Silly season's getting reeeaaal old ![]() |

Milan muse Ljungberg bid
Milan have become the latest Serie A side linked with a swoop for free agent Freddie Ljungberg. The Swede terminated his contract with West Ham United by mutual consent and is awaiting an offer for his next step. Lazio and Roma have both been mentioned as potential employers, but this evening Milan joined the race. The Rossoneri are desperately seeking reinforcements for their defence and would be able to afford his wages, even if they wouldn’t go so far as to match the £3m per season provided by West Ham. It is well known that Milan value experience in their squad, so the 31-year-old would be welcome at San Siro. Over the past few days agent Claes Elefalk has hinted that there were “more than one Italian club interested” in the ex-Arsenal hero. Yes he has experience and skill, etc , but imo he is too old and injury-prone (though perhaps that would make him fit right in!).

Why Ljunguberg when we need a center back? Let's hope it's just another rumour or else we'll be stuck with another 30 plus primadonna collecting huge wages and playing only a handful of games.
