Sheva will take the number 76 and is a good buy to the club no matter what they say. He is a better bet than both Paloschi and Boriello put together whether you like it or not. I'd like to see us use Sheva, Pippo, Pato up front next year and Kaka, Ronaldinho, Seedorf behind them. I am sure that Boriello will leave because I remember his agent threatening that he will quit if Milan buy more strikers. Boriello should be sold out right because we got ripped off for his deal, we need to at least break even.

And don't forget this is Milan you are talking about , we are not Arsenal, Udinese, Valencia - we cannot afford to depend on Paloschi nor do we have the time to watch him grow. Face it - he is no Kaka nor is he a Pippo (at the moment). They gave him his chance in pre-season and they thought "if this kid does amazing and scores 2 goals every game we will keep him", but he didn't. Personally I dont want to see Paloschi here because we will be wasting his talent, he should be loaned out just like Gourcuff (and probably Viudez too).

Another issue that no one has brought up recently is that - Sheva is a Non-EU player. That is the worst thing about the deal seeing as he took our last remaining Non-EU spot. I was hoping a player like Alex or Ivanovic could come in, but that does not look likely (however it still is possible if Viudez is loaned out). If we are to make any transfers - it has to be an EU player or a player from Italy.

One question - has Udinese signed Stendardo yet? Because that means they have signed 2 defenders in the last month and could afford to lose one. Besides Udinese are known for selling their players, so here's hoping for Milan to make another surprise and sign Zapata out of the blue!

EDIT:
I just read Carlo's interview where he mentioned that Sheva was not coming to Milan only for him to come a couple of hours later. In that interview he mentioned:

- Maldini, Kaladze, Emerson are fully recovered and will be available for the friendly tomorrow against Gijon. It will be an important test for them.
- Jankulovski is fine. Gattuso has a small injury to his shoulder so he will miss the game tomorrow. Inzaghi does not have any specific injury but is suffering in some parts of his foot. He will continue training next week.
- The players who will play in defence and midfield tomorrow should be the same players that will start the game against Bologna.
- The strikers will not necessarily will be the same because we will have Ronaldinho and Pato who will resume training with the squad on Tuesday.
- Abbiati will be the starting GK because he currently is the best GK from the three.
- Nesta's recovery is going well. Kaka should be ready for the second game of the league.
- Viudez and Cardacio will remain training with us. We will decide later whether Viudez should join the Primavera or stay with us but I would rather he stayed with us because that's how they learn quicker. They have to mature in a different way than the rest and will improve upon their mistakes faster.
- He hopes Roma will win and believes Inter have a great team for next year.

I don't get why people even expect loyality or that certain players love the club.

Let me explain.

Shevshenko, Flamini, Seedorf is not local players. They never went to San Siro as a kid or probably even followed Milan closely. Milan is their employer. Now why should they suddenly love the club just cause they started playing there? Why should Flamini love Milan more than Arsenal or Marseille (where he actually grew up).

Since international football has become the way it has with little local players, I don't think anyone should scream disloyality over players who never loved the clubs before they even came there.

That's my 2 cents atleast

Sheva is a non-eu? I thought he already gotten Italian citizenship?

Welcome back Sheva; like some I have mixed feelings but heck you are back and we may well need it now when both Kaka` and Borreillo are injured (and Inzaghi injury-prone).

Our attack is less strong than some might think...

Many of you talking about building for future. well, how many of you willing to wait 2 or 3 seasons of underperformence. If you cannot stand it, please cut the cr*p and get serious. for me, i don't want another Arsenal in Italy.

Some of best players of there generation. Some like maldini will go on as greatests ever, others like seedorf may be underrated in history but no1 of knowledge will doubt there accomplishments. The point is we needed to BUILD for the future. Not bring in aging vets. You're right we're not in the champions league, so why not purchase the likes of dani alves or rafinha instead of zambro. Why not bring in benzema instead of ronaldinho. Before you jump on me about how these plaeyrs r unattainable im simply making a point. The 20+ mil ronaldinho cost, could have been used on a TOP TIER young talent. And thats the problem I have. I wanted ot turn the page, build for future. The same way manutd did brinigng nani, anderson with scholes and giggs. They dint go sign a 31 year old and a 28 year old. they went after guys around 20 who they knew were proven talents, who over a 2-3 yar period could replace there legends as they slow down.
Yes, I agree, that would be ideal. We get these young guys, they come in and all gell, and they play stunning soccer, and we win the cl with these players for 10 years, and they all lived happily ever after. CUT. this is real life, and there is no way in hell milan is payin that kind of money for young players. yes i love benzema and alves, but i also loved gila. how do u noe these guys will succeed? does milan look like a team that builds with youth? do u noe why we win so much, because of experienced legends. we win because of inzaghi and seedorf, players that according to you, should have been replaced by young hot shots years ago. the truth is, if u want to win todai, u are more likely to do so with a inzaghi, trezeguet, van nistelroy, sheva, or drogba, than some young hot shot. and milan is all about winning, every single season. theoretically, van der vart is a way better buy than ronaldinho, for now. but im sure that we will win more with ronaldinho than van der vart. plus, why the hell does everyone ignore flamini. He is young. u got flamini, borriello, cardacio, paloschi, pato, viudez, and gorcuff plus abate on loan, thats enough youth for a top club. take a minute and look at real's amazing youth system, and arsenal's, when was the last time they won cl?

I honestly think the term 'youth' is overrated.

If you are old but you are exceptional, why not?
If you are young and have potential, may try.
If you are old and fading, LEAVE.
And if you are young and exceptional? PLAY.

I thought this has always been the way it is. People compalain about Gourcuff, but have they seen Milan playing Pato when he is 18 and Kaka` when he is (what age?) OVER players like Rui Costa (age 29/30 at that time?).

Please - there is no substance whatsoever claiming that young player is always better. Nor do we want the team like Arsenal. We all know what happens (turns out one of their best players have also come to Milan).

R80 - Pato - Kaka are not OLD combination, for God's sake.

The key now is to buy a good, REALLY GOOD, world-class defender. I mean WORLD-CLASS. This has been eluding us for long...

Good points Jeff, good points. Being young doesn't necessarily mean you're definitely world class, nor does it mean you can out-run, out-think or even out-muscle players like Maldini or Gattuso (C. Ronaldo being my prime example).

Likewise, I too am waiting for that last defender signing to complete a pretty darn good summer mercato.

A defender will complete the loop, but I'm not hopeful...

I also think that a GK will be impt for next year when we are back in CL, but again we need someone who is exceptional and very expeirenced to play at the highest level like in CL...

The only mistake I worry that Milan management has made is overestimate our defense. I think it is a mistake if we were not to buy a DC this year..

Did Kaka option release Sheva?
Sunday 24 August, 2008
There is continuing confusion over how much Milan paid to sign Andriy Shevchenko, raising doubts Kaka might have been involved.

When the announcement that Sheva was returning to San Siro was made at 18.00 on Saturday, both clubs declared “the details are confidential.”

The transfer had collapsed over the past few days with Adriano Galliani pointing out Chelsea were refusing to release the striker on loan to the same club that had earned £30m for him two years ago.

It had been reported Chelsea requested a loan deal that had to be followed by a permanent move worth £13m.

None of the sources close to either club have emerged with a theory on how they managed to resolve the issue.

The contract will be signed on Monday after a medical and then the details might emerge, but it still doesn’t answer why there has been so much secrecy.

There is the rumour that Chelsea’s £100m chase for Kaka could be involved, as the only way for Milan to gain leverage would be to include an option on the Brazilian.

However, should Kaka not wish to leave San Siro at any stage of his career, then the option would essentially be worthless.

If the 2007 Ballon d’Or does opt to walk away, then the option would give Chelsea first choice, thereby destroying any chance of Real Madrid pipping them to the post.

Of course this could all be just a theory and the truth may well be that President Silvio Berlusconi agreed to shell out the extra cash at the end of the season just to have Sheva back in his squad.

I think we can.
In fact, our squad has more quality than Inter and Roma.
We can do it on one condition...consistency...and know how to win even when you don't deserve to win. with little luck in respect with injuries we can win.

very true, but i should back up. i meant ot win league, something we havent been close to for years, you need motivated legs. Milanshould never lose to empoli or atalanta. Or pull the amount of draws to mediocre teams we did. Its largely because players like seedorf, pirlo, gattuso dont care. WHy should they get up for a sunday in siena when they play wed night in manchester infront of millions of cameras. Thats y u bring in the youth, to gel w/ the legends. Face it milan has been a cup team for 3-4 seasons. That is why i brought the manutd analogy. The difference between them winning CL last year and us eyar before, they dominated league whole way. In champions league final i'd say no1 was more integral than paul scholes, an absolute legend. plus there strong back line and keeper. However throughout season, it was likes of nani, tevez, anderson all putting great perfomances. (not to mention ronaldo....) But my point is scholes, giggs, they are manutd when i think of it, but because of age they cant play as much. And thats where our squads headed. Gattuso and pirlo look shells of themselves cause they r overplayed. Kaka is only human. In modern football, you need more than just a good first team.

I think it's just media speculation to sell papers. Personally, I think the deal is Sheva was probably bought outright at around 15m euros and with a cut paycheck (this much has been confirmed by Galliani). Chelsea probably don't want to divulge the details as their club made a massive loss on Sheva (30 m euros?) and Milan probably don't want to divulge the details as many fans were strongly against signing Sheva at all, never mind at a price that's relatively high.

I have one question for all the people who want to buy young players...

Do you want us to become an Inter?

considering that most of the young talents are none-Italian(mostly Brazilian/Argentinian) buying atleast 5 players of them would instantly put the Italian players on the bench, hence having at tops 2 Italian starters, which is not good for an Italian team

well thats what I think, what do you think ?
