Well, I would not rule out Zambro just yet as his signings reminds me of Cafu. When Cafu came, people thought he was washed up(did not play much in Roma), and just not the same Cafu. But when he comes to Milan, we got the old Cafu back.

As for Sheva, I think once he starts scoring goals, people will forget that he left us.

The point I'm trying to make is that you really sometimes have to sacrifice one for the other; or at least that's the case for Milan (I know Barcelona and Man U have managed the double). Don't get me wrong, but for the past 7 years or so Milan's squad has not been competitive enough to achieve on both fronts, and I hope you'll agree with me on this assumption. Players like Brocchi, emerson, Tomaason, Simic, Gila et al. are not enough to bring home the SCudetto when clearly Seedorf, Kaka, Pirlo, Nesta et al. are overused.
i agree he's a great manager. But he is a cup manager. He doesnt have the mentality to grind out a season. Or atleast he hasnt shown it, compartive to his counterparts. I wouldnt change carlo....just cause theres no1 better available.
But interesting point on our bench players. you list emerson, simic, gila, brocchi. but inter won last year playing Burdisso alot, maerazzi alot, viera down stretch while clearly over his prime. Do you think its lack of depth or mentality? I think its both. I think we have alot of stars, and alot of primadonnas who think they r stars. They cant be bothered to hussle against seina or palermo. I mean your point o backups being worse is valid, but shouldnt we be able to win w/ gila upfront, and brocchi in midfield along w/ some of our stars.
I dont know where this mentality comes from, but its clear. I thought best way to counter it is to clear our bench, and bring in players like gourcuff, promising youngsters who want the first time who will take most of those opportunities. But one thing to me is clear, this NEEDS to change if we wanna win scudetto

Totally agree with you, mrki. I believe many of us have mixed feelings about the return of this prodigal son. But since he's a Milan player now, we all must support him.

When did Ancelotti say that he doesn't like Sheva or Ronnie? He said a long time ago that they may not be the players milan currently need, but he was really happy when Ronnie came and we are yet to see his reception of Sheva...

you, "Milan fans" make me sick... Show me an excellent 23 year old central defender, will you? Senderos is a perfect starting material, he will be the next Stam for Milan...
Sheva perhaps will not be the greatest again, but he will help Milan, of that I am certain.. Last season we had a problem with toothless attack. If Sheva and Ronnie aren't improvements, then I don't know what the **** do you expect...

I have never been so disappointed with this discussion board before. MilanMania has always been a plan for family like atmosphere, and calm mature discussion, but I haven't seen tha for over half a year now. Even the mods now allow themselves to bash the team that wasn't even put to a test yet! HALF of our signings didn't play in the summer friendliess..
What makes this all even worse is that you will easily get away with this attitude. If Milan wins - you will be like wiiii.. hooray, great players awesome coach! if not - you will go onto eternal "i told you" rant...

milanmania isn't the same anymore, what a shame
Are you mature enough (sorry, I am not offending you, only asking you)? Why can't you accept different opinions? If those 'Milan fans' like you said can accept and understand your opinion, why can't you?

For sometime, yes there were 'funny' discussion but mods have taken proper decisions. So, since then I haven't seen any unmature discussion (maybe only one or two posts but not discussions).

Oh yeah, bashing and criticising are different things.

Forza Milan!

PS : Sorry, late reply, just woke up

On the contrary, Siregar, I want to say that what forward says has some truth in it. See bolded part; I'm not going to expand further on that issue. I believe that it is true for a while for some posters, not just one that happened in the near past.

I can also understand forward's frustration (see italic): If it's frustrating to you, it's frustrating to many people; it frustrates me, and the mods. Though you have to understand that this is an open forum: some tolerance of different opinions, so long if not carried too far, should be allowed. We, of course, are aware of the trade-off that some older posts will leave as a result.

This is why I'm glad that people like Ario and Kui are back posting.

I do want to say something about the underlined part. I do not know where you get the idea that mods now allow themselves to bash the team. I believe that mods so far have been rather tolerant to Milan.

One way you can help build a better forum is to post wisely, which I hope you are already doing. Readers are generally smart enough to see who are the substantial posters and who are those, "oh this guy is bad", "wtf is wrong with the team" after one big loss and "it's all good" after one win. You can easily make a reputation for yourself out of that. Key is whether what you say is substantial: By simply saying that "Our squad is enoug hbecause we have flamini, zambrotta etc." is not enough: The key is to explain why and with some logical explanation.

Hope you'll continue to visit MM in the future. - J

The way forward wrote his post could 'attack' himself. He shouldn't say like 'whiney little bitching' just because there is different oppinion to him. This can attract other poster to post and play similar things like forward did.

i already replied to a similar comment like this on a previous page

"sheva is a traitor, he is crap, we are an embarassment" -- THIS IS NOT an opinion
"senderos sucks, he is worse than simic, we are an embarassment" -- THIS IS NOT an opinion

there is nothing to agree with in posts like this, there is even nothing to discuss or to challenge in such person's opinion
if people dislike the signings or the club's politics they should try to post informed opinions, based on some arguments

TO be honest, I am actually pretty happy with the transfer season.

We got Abbiati back, which is a huge upgrade from Dida and Kalac, yes, we should have sign Akineev or Bourc but nobody can state that both of those keepers will be better than Abbiati as they don't speak Italian and never play in Italy before.

Cafu is gone and in with Zambro, to be another huge upgrade. Yes, Alves or Rafinha might be better individually, but I believe Zambro is a much better edition to the current Milan team than the other RB in the world, due to the understanding of the Italian style of play culture.

Serginho for Antonini, well, Vargas would have been a dream, but lets wait for next yr when Favalli is retire and Milan sign Vargas to replace him. Antonini is an upgrade to Serginho b/c of his work rate and defense ability. Although, I only seen him play in Milan friendlies, but he does a lot of running and moving off the ball, while also got good defense sense.

Flamini, no need to say more, as he is byfar one of the best CM in the world.

R80, probably the most talented player in this era, he is getting back into shape and I think by X'mas, he will be the best again.

Borreillo for Gila is a straight swap and I will always take a confident striker over a no confidence striker.

Sheva instead of R99 will give us another weapon upfront but this time Sheva has something to prove to the world.

Sanderous is not much of an upgrade from Simic but he does provide something that we lack, height and power in defense, since Stam left but how Milan didn't sign Mazarrotti for 3M instead of spending 2M on Sanderous on loan is beyond me.

As for the two new Urguarian, I don't know much about them but at least MIlan are signing young guns instead of old timers.

Overall, my only regrets for this summer mercato is Milan not being able to sell the likes of Dida, Kalac, Favalli, Emerson and Brocchi, also giving away their youngsters on a cheap with Mazarrotti and Sammarco and lastly, not trusting in youth, loan of Polashi(will happen) and Abate.

Now that we have finished our purchases, rumours are flooding in of who we'll let go to trim the squad. Today alone we have:

Boriello to Spurs,
Paloschi on loan,
Brocchi to Lazio,
Oddo to Lyon.

Paloshi on loan is an obvious one and a necessary one to help the kid evolve. However, i can't see any logic in selling Boriello as surely that'll just leave us in the exact same striker shortage position before we got Shevchenko.

Oddo to Lyon is an interesting one. I wouldn't be opposed to seeing him go, but i wonder if there's any chance of us swapping him for Grosso. He had some good performances in Euro 2008 and i have to say his performance against Ronaldo at Old Trafford in the CL was probably the best by a full-back in containing/nullifying the Portugese winger.

If Oddo did leave though, it would kind of leave us short of RBs with only Zambrotta as our only recognised right full-back ... *cough* Rafinha *cough*

Jeff, Carlo didnt win scudetto in 2004/2005, we won it in 2003/2004 and Gila wasnt in it. It was the team of Sheva,Pippo, young KAka', Seedorf, Rui,Cafu... Correct me people if Im mistaken.

Nevermind, I just wanted to correct the Gila factor - for any coach its impossible to win scudetto with Gila being a forward!

Papers say this morning that Paloschi will be loaned out ( normal and good move ), that Lazio want Brocchi ( ...EXCELLENT! as Mr. Burns would say!), and that Oddo may be on his way to Lion. Also, that we may sell Boriello to Tottenham who will loose Berbatov to United.

As far as Oddo and Boriello are concerned I would sell them both! Oddo is 31 and has nothing to do in Milan, to be objective: he had few good defensive moments in CL but he was awfull in 90% of matches. Sell him and Boriello ( England clubs pay well for forwards ) and insert Darmian and Marzoratti in first team. bonera will be RB, and Nesta,Kala,Maldini, Senderon CB's.

Aldough, I dont think Oddo will leave yet. But I would sell him

If you sell Boriello, you surely have to find another forward as it leaves us with far too few strikers for the season.

I really don't wish to see Bonera at RB, that is a mistake as he can't offer the width or crossing ability we desperately need from our full-backs.

I would only sell these 2 players if we were able to get similar, if not better replacements. The only way to do that is to spend more money, something i don't think we'll do now.

Oddo - crossing ?

Milan will have to play Seedorf, KAka', Ronaldinho and 3 strikers would be enough. Well, as you say, and you are probably right ( as I tend to get carried away, you know, Balkan mentality and all ), Milan will most likely need all those players.

And if future I expect some good football from Darmian, we need to loan him. For an 18 year old defender, he looks really promising.

Also, Milan needs to work on Italian mercato as Juve does. It brings you cheep and great players for future Italia NT.
De Ceglie, Giovinco, MArchisio, Palladino ( aldough failed ), Criscito and so on... for sure we could use some players like that.
