I agree with the rest, why giving him the 50% in a club when he is so young, he had some great games and he has shown that he can become a usefull player. He is so young that you can't know if can become a great striker or a waste of time. What if in 2-3 years the boy become a great player? Parma will ask more than we had sold the 50% to her.

phew... ! long time no see.
What a GREAT transfer market, guys. We only need to bring 1 new GK and it'll be perfect. Sadly, Paloschi must leave to Parma. Why should it be 50% deal? We'll end up paying him overrated just like Borriello. Good long-term deal for Parma. The amount of money from us for Palo next season will be enough to reuild their squad when they return to Serie A.

Selling half of Paoloschi is so stupid I can't describe it any other way. I've never called any move stupid in the 8 years I've visited this forum but this is a clear act of stupidity...
I can't see a positive side on it. Juve manages to loan out their players we sell half our talents. I don't get it...

I've just read that Vidic dislikes the city of Manchester (weather/people) and is thinking of trying other leagues. While i don't expect him to move this season or anytime soon, if he keeps up with this view Ferguson won't keep him long.
A Vidic-Nesta CB pairing would be ideal ![]()

Actually for normal young players like Pozzi, Marzoratti, Abate etc. or unproven players like Boriello, I agree with co-ownership as it will share the responsibility for both clubs, not only for Milan but also for the club that takes them. But for not certain player which are very talented like Paloschi. For the first case, both clubs (the loan club and loaned club) have advantage.
The loan club, Milan, share the responsibility to the loaned club in developing the players and the loaned club can get the players for cheap prices and can get much more money in the coming year(s) if they succeed to train the players to be (very) good players. In this case, it's still not clear if the players which are loaned can turn to be quality players like expected (there is major doubt here). But in Paloschi case, it's different IMO. We now can see that Paloschi has huge talent and what he needs is only practices (games). The logic way to think is that it's not so difficult to make Paloschi very good striker. So, if Parma pays small amount of money (because Paloschi is still so young) and then Milan must pay much higher than Parma gave in the coming year(s), then Parma is the only one who will get the advantage here. This is of couse with an ideal assumtion : with Palo's talent, he should be a sharp striker in the coming years. Parma are in Serie B and there are some Serie A clubs who were also interested in him but Milan decided to sell to Parma. I have thought why Milan sold the half of Paloschi's contract and I do think it's about guarantee. We know Parma are an experienced club in making unknown players to be very known players or young and unmature players to be great players like Mutu, Gila, Adriano, etc. Milan want to make it sure that Palo won't turn to be an average striker but to be a great striker like Italy had before. I think, Milan only wanted to send Paloschi to 'the higher-ranked school for young players' even with expensive fee. |

I can't believe it either, but on second thought, I just wonder if it's possible to add certain clauses in the deal, like how many games Parma garanteed to Palo, or a maximum fee for redeeming the half ownership. The transfer gurus won't do what you and me know is just clearly stupid, will they?

Agree. There is definately something in the deal. Milan won't do what they did with Boriello although what they did with him wasn't stupid or bad. He was in Milan and before that he was loaned out on a few occasions. He never reached the potential that was expected from him and on top of that he had the problem with the steroids. Milan found a bidder and sold half his contract to Genoa. Boriello had a great year and was obviously now worth a lot more to Genoa then what they paid for him so they hit our pocket with it. It wasn't a bad deal simply because Boriello was more or less I think not expected to turn out the way he did and Milan never had a plan to buy him back.......that is untill he scored 19 goals ofcourse.
Paloschi is different and there is definately some clause in the deal. The menagement isn't stupid. They have said on numerous occasions that they believe in Paloschi and they think he will become a great player. There is hundreds of different clauses that can be put in the deal. Example....there might be a set price for us to buy back the 50% from Parma.

YOUNG BLOOD
8/27/2008 5:11:00 PM Milan's youth sector remains at the summit of Italian football. The co-ownership deal with Parma for Alberto Paloschi is the umpteenth "young" operation of the Rossoneri's summer. MILANELLO - The operations concerning the products of Milan's youth system generate a lot of attention to the work of this very important sector of the club and give revenues for the Club. The young players coming from the youth teams of the Rossoneri populate half the Serie A, such as Ignazio Abate, Davide Di Gennaro and Alberto Paloschi. These talents will always be followed with great attention. During this summer the following things happened: - striker Alessandro Matri was bought entirely by Cagliari - the midfielder Paolo Sammarco was bought entirely by Sampdoria - the defender Lino Marzoratti was bought entirely by Empoli - the defender/midfielder Luca Antonini was brought back and inserted in Milan's First Team - winger Luca Antonelli was transferred in a co-ownership deal to Parma - midfielder Ignazio Abate was was brought back by Milan and then given to Torino in a co-ownership deal - striker Nicola Pozzi was bought entirely by Empoli - defender Elia Legati was transferred to Monaco in a loan deal with the right to a purchase - striker Willy Aubameyang transferred on loan to Digione - playmaker Davide Di Gennaro transferred in a co-ownership deal to Genoa - defender Davide Astori transferred to Cagliari in a co-ownership deal - striker Alberto Paloschi transferred to Parma in a co-ownership deal Other co-ownerships were resolved as follows (in upper case letters the teams who have taken over the player definitively): Marco Borriello (MILAN/Genoa), Ceccarelli (MILAN/Inter), Graffiedi (Milan/TRIESTINA), Kalu (Milan/SAMP), Toma (Milan/INTER), Varaldi (MILAN/Inter), Vitofrancesco (Milan-CREMONESE). source : acmilan.com |

I was upset about Abate being co-owned, so you can imagine how I feel about the Paloschi news. This is utter MADNESS! Milan are being penny-wise, pound-foolish. There is virtually NO BENEFIT for co-ownership deals from the perspective of "big clubs".
Milan have changed GREATLY in the last 4 years or so. Instead of being the hobby of a multi billionaire, it is being managed like a public corporation with fiscal responsibilities. We are really cash strapped - that's the ONLY way you can interpret what has been taking place over the past 3 offseasons. - Two summers ago, we sold Sheva for 45 million and hardly reinvested that money in the club. We all attributed that to the Calciopoli and the uncertainty of us making the CL that year. - Last summer, we won 30+ million for the CL victory, but only spent 20 million on Pato, along with Emerson (and BA!) even though there were other glaring deficiencies on this team (which were obvious to everyone except the board). - Now this past summer, we have seen the club make a ton of GREAT moves (I mean that - no sarcasm). But take a closer look. Prior to the Sheva & Senderos moves, we bought Borriello for 10 million. We bought Zambro for 9.5 million. We bought Dinho for 21 million. We bought Flamini for 0 million. Meanwhile, we sold Gila for 14 million, sold RO for 10 million, sold Grimi for 2.5 million. We sold Simic for undisclosed, but let's assume 3 million. So in essence, we improved our team greatly, but only through the spending of about $11 million! You would think that more money would be available for players. YET, WHY WERE WE ONLY TARGETING A CB VIA A LOAN MOVE??? Ivanovic and Senderos were both the same type of deal where we would borrow for one year and then option buy next, but why was this so important for negotiations? Surely a billionaire like Berlu could splash out some more cash considering the team only spent about 11 million in transfers up to then, and thus increase our selection of players from teams who may not have been interested in letting us play with their toys for one year Plus give us an option to buy. But no, we needed to get a CB via loan ONLY. Is Berlu being cheap? I'm not so sure because of the mysterious Sheva move. Personally, I think Berlu bought Sheva back behind closed doors with his own money and away from the eyes of the board and whatever auditor keep tabs on our books. And I bet he spent an exorbitant amount - like 15 million. I can only say that something is going on that requires us to account for every penny and keep a balanced book and stay in the black. I recall an accounting scandal for both Milan and Inter that occurred in Feb/Mar of 2007 that suddenly went away. The conspiracist in me thinks that Milan got in serious legal trouble and now have eyes watching every deal they make. That's why we are being so cheap! In any case, let's not mention Palo or Abate again, or I'll end up breaking another window.... |

I actually thought we'd sold him outright. That's a little comforting, amidst all the irritation of seeing half of Paloschi's rights sold to Parma. Selling half of a big talent is bad enough, selling all of it is aggravating.

two months ago we were so sure (and me too to be honest) that our management doesn't know what they are doing, promising us plenty of top class signings but ending up with "the deal isn't gonna happen"
galliani proved his worth by bringing EVERYONE he promised to Milan and even some extras.. now we are doubting his competency in managing the young player contracts? do you honestly believe you know something they don't? @ rosso-neri - if you will be breaking a window, upload the video on youtube and drop me a link

Taking the given that he is great how is it penny wise? If he does well in the coming season(s) the 'buy back' of his 50% is going to be higher and more expensive, kind of similar to Boriello. Maybe Giovanni can tell us if there are tax or other legal implications because in transfer fee dollars its unlikely to be saving us money.

For the past 4 years - yes. Sad but true. this mercato was great becouse it was SMART. But lets not complain, it was great. Milan does not spend like it used to, its obvious. Next year we will also need 3 or 4 young players, we'll see. But for now lets go for the scudetto! Brocchi is on his way to Lazio, Oddo to Lion on loan deal.

Well, with the exception of Mazzarrotti, whom I think is better than Sandeous by far. I see no problem with Milan co ownershiping players with other clubs. I know the Borreillo deal did raised concerns but I am sure Milan learned that lesson and make sure it won't happens again.
Ofcourse, if by next year, Milan needs to pay 10M for Abate, 10M for Polashi, 10M of Di Gennaro, then I will be pretty piss at the board for not learning its lesson. |

From goal.com
"Reports: Oddo Signs For Lyon According to reports in France and Italy, Massimo Oddo has signed for French champions Lyon, and Milan will officially announce the transfer in the next few hours. Right full-back Oddo has been heavily linked with an exit from Milan in the past week or so as he is currently well down the Rossonero pecking order, behind both Daniele Bonera and new signing Gianluca Zambrotta. L’Equipe is just one of a host of publications, both in France and Italy, to claim that a deal has been struck which will see Oddo join Lyon on a one-year loan, with the option of making the move permanent next summer. The 32-year-old, who will be a replacement for the injured Francois Clerc, will undergo a medical at the Stade Gerland any time now, while Milan are expected to officially announce the transfer within the next few hours. Oddo had a miserable 2007/08 season with the Rossoneri. He was dreadfully poor in the first half of the campaign, before he had an upturn in fortunes at the beginning of 2008. Things then went downhill again due to injury, and he barely played in the final six weeks of the season, thus missing out on a place in Italy’s Euro 2008 squad. If confirmed, Oddo would be reunited with his World Cup 2006 team-mate Fabio Grosso, who plays on the opposite side of the defence for the seven-time consecutive French champions." |
