Two of our squad players (Brocchi & Oddo) look like they might be moving on. Now, as i've said before, surely that means they need replacing??
Take Oddo. Right now we have 3 players who can play RB, if Oddo goes that leaves us with 1 established RB (Zambrotta) and a CB who can fill in but not do a great job (Bonera). To me that's not enough for the whole season, especially if Zambrotta gets injured. Now i'm not saying we need to replace Oddo with some amazing player, but right now if Oddo leaves everything becomes very unbalanced. Now lets look at Brocchi. He probably doesn't need to be replaced but i would still do so and there are lots of players around we could go for. Today alone we hear of Lucho Gonzalez possibly available on loan, Stephen Appiah (i would offer a 1 year contract and see what happens) available on a free transfer and Matteo Brighi available on loan. All 3 would be an upgrade on Brocchi and would also mean our need for Emerson is lowered. We should trim the squad, but it needs to be done with balance otherwise we will need to bring in other player(s)

http://www.ilmessaggero.it/articolo....sez=HOME_SPORT http://www.lequipe.fr/Football/Footb...000011781.html Paloschi has been payed 2,5 mil €., even if there is a person who heard Ghiradi, Parma president, saying "more than 2,5 mil." to a journalist. Anyway, Milan bought Gila from Parma. might it be the last instalment? incredible good news, it seems Milan want no money for Brocchi. http://www.calciomercato.com/index.php?c=25&a=93164

As for Brocchi I think he's expendable, I see little value in keeping him at the club and feel we're still well covered should he leave. |

So we finally got rid of Oddo...Very good news. I agree with Jim but don't we have a primavera player who can play if zambrotta gets injured??
I don't know so much about our young players, do we have some potentially good players there? About Brocchi, I think we do not need a replacement because I'm still hoping we're gonna switch to 4-2-3-1 and having ambro, gattuso, pirlo, flamini, emerson and cardacio for two places looks more than ok. i would take Appiah over Emerson and Brocchi any day. Im a bit confused over Oddo, why is he going? if he does are they considering taking another young defender?

Personally, I don't mind Oddo leaving as long as we get someone else, but I doubt that's going to happen. So we should keep him. If we wanted to trim the squad without squandering depth, we should simply get rid of Brocchi (#1 on my list), Favalli and Dida (because of his high wages). I'm not sure how much Viudez is needed here either, so he can be loaned too (assuming we even do loans anymore). I would NOT loan out Darmian as i think he's pretty good and I don't trust our CBs health enough to trim our CB count down to 5. Prior to today's news about Paloschi and now these rumors about Oddo, I was extremely happy with Milan's transfer activity. But of course they need to end it on a sour note... ![]() |

Don't count your chickens before they hatch, guys.
We haven't got anything official on Oddo yet, so it might just be another rumour the mills conjured up to sell papers. I personally feel that Oddo is an adequate bench for Zambro, if need be, to fill in for a couple of games in the season. He had a poor year last term, but he isn't THAT bad (as I recall it, it was Janku that had trouble keeping wingers at bay the year we won CL7). We had an inexplicably crap season last year, it wasn't just him. As for the Parma deal, I think the co-ownership thing is utilized somewhat for goodwill purposes between clubs, and somewhat used to ensure that the loan teams don't mess up our talents that badly. In the Premier leagues, we're used to hearing of the top teams loaning out their players to lower divisions and stuff, but what would happen if the player broke their leg during the loan? Well, the club loaning out the player could potentially lose a talent with nothing in return, whilst the club loaning him would just be wasting several weeks of pay, with no responsibility to help that player recover. Having a co-ownership will help to ensure that the loaning team will protect this investment, because if all goes well, they would potentially have a small windfall from the deal. Milan, I think, aren't setting up co-ownerships to lose money. In doing the deal, they: 1.) Get to assess the players development, with half the potential to let him go if they feel he's not up to par. 2.) Lighten their wage bills, though I think this point for a club like Milan is moot. 3.) Increase goodwill between clubs, making it that much easier to sign future potentials from said clubs. 4.) For players like Paloschi, I think the co-ownership deals can help to motivate the players into doing well, as they would feel more pressured to perform well to come back to Milan. Players who know they'll eventually be returning have the luxury of not performing that well, whilst players who don't will have that much more reason to show up at games (it also allows our scouts to better assess their mentality as well, be it sink or swim). |

with Brocchi officially at Lazio, and Oddo going to O.Lyonnais, I hope we can get De Silvestri from Lazio.

It's a shame we sold Marzoratti as he would have been ideal for a season if Oddo were to leave.

ummm... you all HIGHLY over value paloschi. He's a squad player on italy U19. No offense compared to other teenage strikers... pato, balotelli, bojan, aguero... and others whowere teenage strikers... messi, rooney, he is MILES behind. Perhaps he can develop into a good player, but i dont think so for 5-6 years minimum. Serie A clubs wanted him? We dont know this for sure, it was clubs who wanted him as a backup striker too.. none had intention of starting him 30 games. PArma is a great spot for ihm, great at developing talent. I have serious doubts he'll ever be a good milan striker, he could no doubt. But when i look at italy. Future strikers are guiseppe rossi, balotelli, maybe lanzafame.
I'm just saying ur all overrating him, he couldnt score on serie C and 2nd teir teams in spain. Also on coownership, its good beause now that parma owns him they have much bigger stake in wanting to play him. Loan deals r really only good if player wants to go there, or club has glaring weakness at position and r forced to play him.

Brocchi is going to Lazio,we are trimming fat again wich is good.Channel 4 is reporting that the Oddo move to Lyon is exaggerated because reports in France were saying that he was spotted in France but he was present today in Milan for training....But he could still move so we will just have to wait.If Oddo is leaving then i dont think we have to get a replacement because Bonera can also play there on the RB.Last year he did great there and allot of people(also on this forum)were saying that Zambrotta should play LB instead of Jankulovski and Bonera RB.So with Zambro and Bonera we are save.If we are having a serious injury crisis then Albertazzi could play a game or two.

Wow we got rid of Oddo and Brochi.
Hey does anyone remember my words when we signed Oddo.I was right after 2 years the player is not anymore rossoneri. We bought him 7.5+ a player just for 2 years! Bad transfer, with the 7.5m and + 3-4m we could had sign Rafinha from Schalke who is only 19!Or Ilshinho! What a waste of money. To be continued with Zambrotta.I hope in next days we can sign a good and usefull player. That guy De Silvestry can play as a RB and as DC? Does he? |
