maybe that could give some people some faith in this team! we have a GREAT team, I dont understand why people are all complaining.

and for those comparing Dida to Kalac, well sorry to inform that NEITHER of them is going to start any time soon, so drop it already
Serginho has left, mate. I played Pirlo instead, and Gattuso in Pirlo's position. Try it.

Anyway, the point Jeff was trying to make is in regards to the double standard regarding the fans' reaction to Fabregas' goal. It was almost like, "Darn, Kalac just knocked us out of the CL. Bummer." Had Dida let it in, he'd have been drawn and quartered in an instant, and everyone knows it.
Maybe that's because of Dida's howlers time after time the past few years. Ever since the flare incident, he has been horrible and that's possibly an understatement.

Also, I don't remember Kalac getting tapped on the shoulder and then falling to the ground like he'd been shot and rolling around on the ground. No wait, that was Dida.

I don't remember Kalac getting injured while RIDING THE PINE. Oh, that was Dida too.

Since your back going out is an injury that can happen to the average Joe at any time, I think this reflects on the rancor of the fans more than anything. Had it happened to anyone else on the squad, it'd have been no big deal.

Nice. There's always the small-minded nonsensical comment when you've run out of ammunition.

Look, I understand you're a fanboy of the guy. I'm not. I've never liked how he's played, even when he wasn't considered the scapegoat of the team. All keepers make mistakes, Dida just seemed to make more.

Long story short, I just have a big problem with his positioning (or lack thereof) on shots and that's key for a keeper.

PS. I'm not out of ammunition. I could keep going on Dida for a long while, but what's the point? As long as he's riding the pine (and hopefully not getting injured again while doing it) I'm relatively happy. I'd be happy if we could just get rid of him and his huge salary and sign a quality keeper.

Tardissun, I would like to remind you that your lats sentence in that particular post is not acceptable here at MM.

I also disagree with you that someone is being a fanboy of a player. It might be true, but you do not have to say it in public. I am sure we all know that the team comes first than any individual player.

I don't know where you get the problem with positioning from, and in fact I don't think positioning has been his problem. It's more on whether he should come out to get the ball aerially or not.

You could keep going on Dida for a long while, just like any other fans can keep on going against their goalkeepers for a while, except maybe Buffon.

If it's because of the salary that you are complaining, then I think it's fully justified. But other than that, I still am not convinced completely that it's largely the fans who made Dida sit on the bench, pretty much the fans who wanted Gilardino to exit Milan.

Alright guys, nothing more we can do now. Season has started, let's all support the players---Dida included. Management had some choices to make this summer---either invest in a top class keeper, and then end up with a pretty average second string, or have 3 above average keepers, who are not exceptional, but can all start games and come on at crucial moments.

We all know what they have decided, and I am expecting us to concede the odd "easy" goal. But this is where the rest of our investments need to show their worth. If Dinho, Sheva, Kaka, Pato, and co play to their potential, it's not going to matter which one of the 3 is our starting keeper, they would all be good enough as we woudnt need a "Buffon".

To be honest, Abbiati was really good today.
Even Buffon cannot save the first goal.
As for the second goal, Abbiati was caught out of position abit, but he was not the one to blame as his defense(Kaladze again) did not do his part at all.

TO be honest, if Milan actually signed Zapata or Santacroce(A TRUE FANTASY), both Bologna goals will not happen.

I'd be happy enough with Barzagli only...

How can you possibly say that? This is football we're talking about. The chain of events that lead to a goal involve more than just a couple of defenders. That is why barring a horrendous individual error, the team must take collective blame for a goal conceded---ie there may be equal fault of the forward who lost the ball as the defender who mistimed a challenge. On the other hand, if the team win, it is not only the striker who takes the plaudits, the whole team from GK to the striker must get credit. In short, we win and lose as a team. No point saying that if this one or that one was in the team, we wouldnt have conceded or if this striker was playing instead of that, we would have won by a big margin.

i'd like to see us sign a rb so that we don't end up playing Flamini out of position all the time.

To be honest, due to the fact that Rino and Ambro and Pirlo must play when healthy, i think Flamini will be playing at RB if everyone is healthy.

Why MUST they play? It's set attitudes like this that stops the side evolving. Flamini played better than both Gattuso & Ambrosini last season and should start ahead of one of them in midfield. Not to mention we all saw how bad things were when Gattuso & Ambrosini were in midfield together because of their limitations as players. One or the other, not both. Besides if we end up playing 4-2-3-1, we won't play all of them anyway.

Weighing up form & fitness, Flamini is still better than the pair of them. Playing him at RB (because we don't have a true back-up player now Oddo's gone) is just a complete waste. Why not play Ambrosini or Gattuso at RB?

mrki, sorry to say Corluka joined Spurs for just £8.5 million!

Too bad...Imo Corluka is better player than Kala,Bonera and Senderos...plus he can play RB really good. And he went really cheap.
