I never been much into the MLS, despite going to a Chivas USA game a while ago...

I took my Milan jersey... lol... awkward...

I was at an Atletico game several years ago... I'm originally from Madrid myself (mom is spanish, dad is italian)... so maybe that might be a reason for it... and I hate Real Madrid lol...

hahaha mls is a joke, but when i was younger i attended a fair amount of games. Gotta grow the sport somehow in the US, so i'll support the league even though its run ****ty....for european teams i dont really care for anyone other than milan. Ive aways had a softspot arsenal in epl because of there style of play, atletico and barca r fun to watch too. but thats its, this year in UCL i'm hoping for a 2004 type season w/ porto monaco final. I was thinking Zenit could truly be that team.. not that they're a small or poor club (anyone owned by gazprom is having no monetary issues) but im sick of all the epl bandwagoners...

last years final i went to local sports bar (i was working in davis... town i went to college in) and it was disgusting wall to wall bandwagoners in chelsea or manutd jerseys.

edit: back to mercato..... is it impossible for us to sign thiago silva? I know we used both nonEU spots but if vuidez i loaned (for ex) can thiago silva come in?

The problem with the MLS is the way it is structured... in a sort of conference system. I guess because of the size of this country... but I dunno. Even Russia has a good system set up... well funded... Atletico is one of my favorites... they play on GolTV now (which I just ordered today)... I want to watch them play more... I'm just sick of seeing the EPL on TV...

Zenit is a very rich club... I'm also sick of the EPL bandwagoners... I swear if I see another Manure jersey around here...

Yes. In fact... the official website went as far as saying...

"MILAN - On some newspapers today they tried to make Milan look like they are in competition with another club for the purchase of Brazilian player Thiago Silva. In reality, there wasn't and there will not be competition, because Milan, having already registered two foreigners for this season, is not amongst the clubs who can register Thiago Silva."

(ACMilan.com) That's as official as it gets.

Milan is going to be looking elsewhere in EUROPE for defenders... or perhaps a defender from South America with EU status.

lol Porto has a history in the CL (even before the Mourinho era) and what makes your analogy even worse is the fact that they usually sell off their big stars to the bigger European teams

I don't rate him much....in fact I don't like him either....but he's rated the best young striker in the 20-23 age group in the world. Your failure to provide examples of young strikers who are better than him also illustrate this point

First of all your not agreing with anything I say doesn't make it less true.
Second of all I never said that Borriello won't be good. I said we bought him back under similar circumstances to those Gila is now (i.e. playing well in another mid table club)

I wasn't talking about that... I was talking about the time when they did reach big. Do me a favor and read my damn words before you post your commentary on them. Thanks.

LOL NOTHING!

Again, you're talking opinion. You never asked for other examples. So what failure is that? Your failure to read my post as usual? Strikers 20-23... Aguero? Tevez? Pogrebnyak? Come on...

You can't even attack me right.

First of all, what you post and you claiming it as fact, doesn't make it true or fact. What you post is opinion and clearly will always be opinion.

Borriello is not another Gilardino. How many players have we bought from midtable clubs that do beautifully? Many. Where did Alessandro Nesta come from? Or is this more of your ignorance? Where did Gennaro Gattuso come from? In this you have to take a gamble... sometimes these players will turn into stars... sometimes they won't. If no gamble is made, you will never know. Or worse, another team (rival) could get that player.

The fact is this: Borriello is far more physical, strong and has a better shot than Gilardino ever did. Therefore I'm more willing to put my bets behind him!

Many top star players come from smaller and midtable teams, unless they are home grown.

Atletico is not a feeder club or a small club. They'll have a rich owner. And they have an excellent Mexican coach too, Aguirre... they are a great team with superb world class players in every level... whether it be in the defense, midfield and certainly in the attack. They are not going to be letting go of players easily. I think we have another Porto like team on the rise (potential of winning the CL).

Flamini does have Italian blood actually. His family hails from Rome.

Agree about Athletico. and they do have a history in CL. Came very close to winning in 76. Their chances of winning require a BIG Mental step though.

Benezma though is more complete than any other striker of the same age.

Unfortunately I think 76 was bought fully, at least according to the Chelski website.

Pogrebnyak &Tevez are 24. I already mentioned that Aguero was the best young striker in the world, but I guess I forgot to take into account that you can't concentrate past one post....my bad

First of all I wasn't the one that said Gila is a mid table striker.....it was you.

Second of all Lazio was considered one of the powerhouses in Italy. Nesta was their star defender.

Thirdly Gattuso came from Rangers which rules Scotland along with Celtic PERPETUALLY. (not that Scotish teams are themselves powerhouses by any means mind you)

You can't artifically set ages because you think the "bracket" fits your argument. I talked about Aguero before but you're too ignorant to remember that. You can't concentrate on making points. It's too bad you're still the same. Insulting and arrogant.

Salernitana. Get your facts right. He may have played for the Rangers before, but that's not relevant... it's not helpful when all your history is just flat out wrong.

when we got nesta, lazio was a power on decline (poor finances, needed to sell) but i dont see what that has to do w/ ****. My knock on borriello wasnt that he was from a midtable team. only that hes 26 and had been largely dissapointing until last season at genoa, and theres a huge risk in taking some1 like that. However i'd love him to prove me wrong. He seems bent on it, i look forward to seeing him get 65+ minutes

Many players rise later in their careers (Luca Toni being one of them, despite his recent poor form.. and OMG... what happened to Bayern today!). He may have been a big risk, but I think he has something to prove now and he's looking in very good form. Very powerful shot... he's better now. Sometimes players take longer to get to their peak (or better) form. I like Borriello and I like his attitude...

I'm prepared that we take the risk.

You really are arguing unecessarily. I said that Aguero is the best young striker and that Benzema is RATED as perhaps the second best. Don't knock me for your amateur grasp of the obvious

My point is that when we bought Nesta Lazio was a powerhouse in Italy. That's different from when we bought either of Gila at Parma OR Borriello at Genoa. In fact Parma at the time was a more reputable club than Genoa of late. All this of course was in response to your comment that Gila is a mid-table striker.....but I have a feeling that my point will be lost on you

You are right, he did come from Salernitana in which case he STILL didn't come from a mid table team as they are decidedly bottom level

Stupid little insults. Amateur? How is anything I say amateur? You don't even know what you're talking about. Second best? OPINION.

O-P-I-N-I-O-N.

I'm telling you, I'm about to call it quits from here too. What was the point of me coming back? So I can get insulted and disparaged by you once again? You have no consideration for anyone you're talking to and you never treat them with any respect.

Disagreed. You can say all you want but you'll never get anything right in tihs regard. What point are you trying to make? As far as I'm concerned you've only voiced opinions so far.

I humbly apologize....it took me a while to realize that ALL the things I said were opinions and what you said were facts....I guess the dumb one was me all along! I totally respect everything you say and treat it as the golden gospel it is
