Uefa Cup: Zurich - A.C. Milan: 02/10/08
After that great win against Inter, our players will be extremely exhausted with all that running that they did. Especially players like Seedorf who ran more than I've seen him do in years. However, we must not underestimate Zurich as they possess that ever important away goal which could come back to bite us.
Great work by the management leaving out Cardacio who could have got valuable experience playing in the UEFA Cup (a decision I'll never understand) so unless Pirlo is back, we may be forced to play 3 CDM's (assuming Seedorf is being rested for our match vs. Cagliari. Either way you slice it, Carlo is going to have some selection problems keeping in mind that Serie A is our goal. I think Dida is our keeper for the UEFA Cup. Kaka won't want to rest and this could be a good chance to foster his partnership with Dinho. I'd definitely rest our fullbacks though so I'd go for something like this: Dida; Antonini, Bonera, Kaladze, Favalli ; Flamini, Ambro/Pirlo, Dinho, Kaka; Pato, Borriello/Sheva.If Pirlo is going to start in this formation then he'll have to play like Clarence did on the weekend and run like crazy. Otherwise we just bench him and play Clarence in his position next time. There's still plenty time before the game so we'll see what squad Carlo puts out. |

^^ Oh really well scratch Pirlo of the possible list of players then. Thought he was gonna be out for a shorter period of time. What's the story with Senderos anyway...did he come here for treatment or to play ?

---------------------Abiatti--------------------
Antonini-----Bonera---------Kaladze------Favalli -----Emerson------Flamini-----Cardacio--------- --------------Kaka----------Ronnie------------- ------------------Shevchenko------------------ Obviously we cant change the team so much as to risk defeat, but we do need to take the oppertunity to rest some players. Maldini, Zambro and Janku are easily rested. If Carlo thinks Cardaccio and Emerson are ready and more imprtantly ready enough to both start then Seedorf and Ambro could be rested. Pato is easy to rest as Shevchenko must be bursting at the seems now. I dont want to risk Boriello yet, but if he is ready then he andPato can come on for Kaka and Ronnie if needed. Kaka may need to start to ensure victory. Ronnie has to start to allow him to continue his 'Recovery' without interuption.

That formation is OK, because Seedorf, Gattuso and Maldini need to get some rest and Milan has good result from the first game. In second half is important to rest Ronnie, I would put Boriello ih he is ready, if not Pato. Later, substitute Kaka ( depending on result ).

Antonini-----Bonera---------Kaladze------Favalli -----Emerson------Flamini-----Cardaccio--------- --------------------Ronnie------------- ----------------Pato-----Shevchenko----------- I think that maybe the most important thing is to rest our best player, Kaka. We all know the situation with his knee, he shouldn't be playing if it isn't necessary therefore this "easy" game should be played without him, seedorf, gattuso, maldini, janku, zambrotta. |

Cardacio is not on the UEFA Cup list people! I know it's a stroke of genius by the ones in charge but that's the sad truth. No need to worry though, I'm sure Emerson is available!

why does everyone have such a boner for cardaccio? What has he done? What has he proven? What has he even shown potentialwise. Atleast gourcuff showed some real promise initially, then carlo aquainted him w/ the bench....

---------------Dida----------------
Antonini--Bonera--Kaladze--Favali -------Flamini-----Ambrosini----- -------------Seedorf------------- --------Sheva---'Dinho-------- --------------Pato------------- Rest Kaka and the fullbacks and maybe change Seedorf with Emerson if he was fit. Pato will shine in the UEFA because there is more space for him than Serie a! |

He looked like a Gago type player during the pre-season games. A real CM who attacks and defends. I think he should get a run here so that we don't unbalance the team with a 3 DM formation. Does anyone know whether there's a B team for the UEFA Cup similar to the CL ? I think I remember that we had two teams for the CL, one A team and one B team.

Kidding, with Emerson or whoever. We will not loose by two goals margine from Zurich, and we need a win on sunday before the international break. We can now rest Maldini, Zambro, Marek, KAka', Seedorf for sunday. And Boriello will 90% be fit for sunday also.
