I really hope R80 and Seedorf do not play as they need the rest.

Gazzetta dello Sport had the headline

"The Borgonovo-day with three Ballon d'Or winners"

So i guess the guy in the wheelchair is signor Borgonovo who this friendly match is dedicated to.

Some more on Stefano Borgonovo

From Goal.com:

Three Ballon D'Or Winners For Borgonovo

Tonight's charity match between former Fiorentina and Milan players, organised by retired footballer Stefano Borgonovo, boasts the presence of three Golden Ball Winners...

Stefano Borgonovo was once a professional footballer who played in the ranks of Fiorentina and Milan. Since his playing days, his life has been trying on account of a condition called Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis.

This illness has destroyed his quality of life to the point that he lays in a wheelchair and speaks through a vocal device, unable to function. ALS destroys the lives of those unfortunate few that develop it. The victim's muscles gradually weaken, develop twitches and eventually atrophy.

The patient may ultimately lose the ability to initiate and control all voluntary movement except for the eyes. The body is paralysed, but the mind is awake. This cruel condition has taken one of Italian football's most wonderful personalities prisoner. Now, the champion of ASL has organised a game between Milan and Fiorentina, which will be played on Wednesday night to benefit his ASL research foundation.

The match between former players from Borgonovo's former clubs, Milan and Fiorentina, is sure to be a very memorable event, with three former Golden Ball Winners set to take the pitch. Ruud Gullit, Roberto Baggio and Ronaldinho will all take part in the event to raise funds for this worthy cause, with the shirts of the players being auctioned off after the game.

Baggio formed a formidable partnership with Borgonovo at Fiorentina in the late 1980s, while Gullit was Borgonovo's team-mate at Milan in the early 1990s. The star-studded line-up is bound to give viewers a feast of classic football.

From Transfermarketweb:

AC MILAN, Emotional Ancelotti Fighting For Borgonovo

Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti has shown his soft spot as he prepares to play in tonight's charity match for former Rossoneri and Fiorentina player Stefano Borgonovo, who is suffering from a form of Motor Neurone Disease...

Ancelotti will be one of many football celebrities to take part at the Artemio Franchi. The game has been organised by Fiorentina and Milan to raise money for charity which will help in the research to find a cure for the illness.

The coach is looking forward to playing for his former team mate Borgonovo and, although Ancelotti is usually cool, calm and collected, he couldn't hide his emotions on this occasion.

"This game is fundamental to make people more aware of this illness and to help research," the coach told Sky Italia.

"We will all be emotional and it's going to be a different night for everyone.

"Borgonovo is a friend and we shared many adventures. He was always a sensible man and we are all standing by his side in this moment of need.

"I hope this night will bring him [Borgonovo] plenty of joy and help him stay better as well as help find a cure for this illness."

Ancelotti will be joined by a number of former legends including Marco Van Basten, Roberto Baggio and Franco Baresi. The Italian national team will also be in the stands showing their support.

For those of you who do not know Borgonovo, let me give you some background. Borgonovo is a former Milan and Fiorentina player who is suffering from motor neurone disease. This disease is fatal and tragically claimed the life of Signorini, who played for Genoa in the early 90s (I think).

Lippi recently also talked about this illness being common in footballers. It is very sad.

EDIT: Or you can read Jim's post .
