In theory this is a nice idea, but we all know that once Silvio goes so does the money. Though maybe the fact Piersilvio won't be reckless with his money (his sister despises the fact her dad puts so much cash into us) will force us into smarter player purchases.

And I fully echo the sentiments of many here. Two non-EU spots were totally wasted; whining about lack of fund while paying huge wages to the people that barely run (can't or won't); refusing to touch other team's "untouchables" while keep missing out on those "touchables". Keeping buying "Grimi" and "Coloccini" (what's the point of that by the way except for making 1 or 2 million bucks?); and offering fat new contracts for those when every other sane person was speculating otherwise (i.e. Dida with this the contract that he couldn't resist). Anyway, this list can go on and on, not to mention the most recent Beckham's purchase, which I doubt was requested by Ancelotti himself.

I think some major changes have to take place to reverse this, and I am not talking about players or the coach (even though they will be involved too).

Both ACM1983 and Mrki made some crucial points about the management. Something drastic needs to happen in terms of a management shake-up (atleast physically shake them up to make sure they're not sleeping through the season).

First of all I wish everyone here A Happy New Year.

I just read some comments and critics about Milan management and transfers and I do not totally agree with you, may be because I am also getting old...lol.
So I am going to mention some points where I see it different from you.

About the Becks saga and Bayern's director comments, I fully agree with Galliani in ignoring his "SOUR GRAPES" comments completely to save the good relations Milan have with Rummenigge.
I am not surprised that Milan were acting in Dubai like they were on a Holliwood set, because it is and was Berlusconi's policy from day 1 when he purchased Milan to be very bombastic (American way)
I remember him going to his first meeting with the players and staff with his helicopter and lots of publicity. He recieved tons of critics, but proved himself right.

Some of you are against Beck's signing with the club. Cannot understand the reason why Milan had to refuse the player's wish. They have a win win situation with his presence.
1. He came free, to train with Milan and to stay in good shape till March. If he will not reach the standard to play, well Milan wins commercially and loose nothing.
2.If he plays good and gel with the team, Milan will benefit also on the pitch.

What's wrong with the players and management to try to persuade him to stay longer? when Milan can only benefit with his signing.

About Viudez!!!!!

Milan are building slowly a new team and trying to stay competitive in the same time. Last year with Ronaldinho, Pato and Boriello Milan built the the base for the future in the attacking department.
This year they will built the defence, and already signed Tiago Silva.

To sign a player outside EU, the club has to release another one outside EU.
So, in my opinion I think Milan signed Viudez (which his costs were negligible) to use him next summer as the release to sign another non EU player (Thiago Silva.)

How the **** could we be linked to Cannavaro, Neil and Pennant If this were 2005 I' would have laughed them off as goal.com's usual desperate attempts to get clicks but after buying Vieri, Emerson, Olivera, Favallinho, Grimi (never used) viudez & cardaccio (the invisible twins ) and of course the biggest one hit wonder since the song they play at the Night At the Roxbury- Borriello- I tend to believe rumors linking us to crap players more than those (very few) linking us to the Benzemas the Aguero's and the CR7's.

Over the past years Milan had vanished as a transfer destination for the top tier players......granted sometimes the players themselves admit that they could have joined Milan but to me as a simple man on the ground these links seem unsubstantial.

Other than crap/mediocre players we seem obsessed with signing players that will sell our jerseys but won't necessarily HELP THE TEAM WIN STUFF......by that I MEAN RONALDINHO AND BECKHAM BOTH UNECESSARY AND BOTH HAVE UNBALANCED THE TEAM. People will argue that R80 has been great and I'd be the first to agree....but the thing is R80 would be great in ANY team BECAUSE he is Ronaldinho.....but our PROBLEMS that COST US POINTS still exist....no WC GK/STRIKER/Cluttered midfield/NO WIDTH (save Zambrotta who is himself decaying albeit slowly) and a paritally dead defense......it is simply ridiculous that a 40 year old is currently our best defensive option

This is not to take away from the good signings we have made like Pato, Zambrotta and hopefully Thiago Silva and Ronaldo for the latter part of the '07 campaign. However to me there is no big club without at least ONE established WC striker and at least TWO fantastic defenders....not even Real Madrid....by my definition we aren't a big club. We have one great up and comming striker in Pato and ONE WC defender in Nesta...that's it.....Zambrotta is decent and the rest of them aren't at WC level, few are great (perhaps Bonera) and the rest are crap...the icing on the cake was to parody out own transfer strategies and buy back one of our own formerly world class strikers after he was clearly washed up.....People on this forum hate me for my fanatical support of Ronaldo but I can gurantee that Ronaldo Right Now in his current physical condition would have DOUBLE THE GOALS $#!tvac has atm.....hell he'd have more even if he was still in crutches
Superb post. Couldnt agree more.

With regards to a defender. Arsenal seem to be ready to sell Toure. He hasnt been too good for a while, but people dont realise he has had malaria. Not too long ago he was pretty damn phenominal in that defence and was nothing less than a rock. Someone to consider.

Eboue is another who has lost his way somewhat, but the man can defend like a beast.

Happy new year too! your post do make some points.

But our rebuilding process is way too slow considering our ageing lineup,and we bring in too many ex-superstars(to the verge damage the equlibre of the team).r10 is acceptable,sheva is tolarable(mostly ina emotional aspect),now It's b32,make me think the management is testing fan's limit of tolarance,HAHA.......I agree with acmilan1983 and mrki's post,we do shall give our market policy of recent years a serious revue.

Year in and year out I see myself defending Galliani and Braida

Would you rather have guys in management who make the same decisions you and I would make (buying the obvious) and not winning anything?

Or let guys who have done unusual things during the 20+ years they've been in charge making us the most successful club IN THE WORLD during all those years?

And what club can do that for us ? Is there any Serie A club that is so friendly with us ? I don't think so ... not nowadays.

And Eboue is not a solution for us as his defensive skills are less important than his offensive ones ... and the problem os some of our defenders is that they can't defend (Janku) or can't defend properly (Favalli, Kaladze, Senderos, ...).

Anyway, I think we'll have one recruie for our defense in this winter mercato but it would have been much better if the guy could have gone to Dubai with our players to train and start playing with our team ...
I am sorry but it seems like you dont know who is the president of Torino and what is Milans relationship with Reggina ( same as Juve-Siena). Those things are normal, busness mandont cheat each other like cave man, you dont go AND STEAL priminister's ( Berlusconi's) player just like that. Do not get offended but I find yoiu conclusions quite childish and not connected to political reality of serie a.

And Eboue is still a good player, better fullback then Favalli, Oddo, Bonera, Jankulovski, Antonini.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Now, seems like young Gremio player with italian passpoer Matteoni is on his way to Juve ( can play bothe fullbacks, like Zambro ), but Milan may step in bla,bla...

Juve and Merda for Cassano ( I would take him in $heva's place in the summer in a second ), Diego says yes to Juve, Balottelli not in good terms with merda etc. Those are the news.

Flamini says he has not adopted to Milan's game. Strange that new player hasnt managed to adopt, something we hawent seen in Milan for years (sarcasm...)

Zhirkov's agent says there's been no Italian contact and he won't be moving in January as that's the time for smaller transfers (thus indicating he's going to cost alot). His agent mentions us, but only to say that we can't buy him now because we don't have a free non-eu spot ... maybe in the summer, i can but hope

mrki, i saw that headline about Milan moving for Matteoni, maybe it's the truth for once? The papers are also on about Milan's 6 star temptation. They've labeled Kaka, Ronaldinho, Seedorf, Pirlo & Beckham as the 5 stars, so i wonder who the 6th is. Pato maybe? A new player?

But it's the time when they did good job in the market.

2002/03 we won CL with new faces Nesta (2002/03), Rui-Pirlo-Seedorf-Inzaghi (2001/02), etc.

Then players like Stam, Cafu, Crespo, Crespo came who brought Milan in fantastic play despite the result they got. In 2005/06 Gila came who made great results in the last year(s). But the problem is since 2006/07 : when our great players left or drop their performance (can't play regularly on top level of performance) but the players who came are not the ideal replacements.

Cafu ---> Oddo = still ok but not ideal
Stam--->????
Rui Costa--->Gourcuff = very bad replacement with respect of Gourcuff age (experience)
Sheva--> R.Oliviera = LOL (yeah, we had problem in that time, calciopoli)
Sheva-->R.Oliviera-->Pato = good replacement BUT in the future
Serginho ---> Antonini
Seedorf--->???
Maldini--->???
Nesta---->????
Inzaghi--->???

The last four players I wrote still play for Milan but their contribution is like they are not playing for Milan (that we should replace them).

I have to admit that in last 7 years (2001/02-2005/06) our transfer campaign was very smart : peak-age players (Rui, Inzaghi, Seedorf etc) combined with experienced players (Pancaro, Cafu, Stam, Favalli etc) plus with many of them were free or taken with cheap prices.

But now? Ancelotti always said that Eto'o is better for Milan than Ronaldinho. Milan in this season actually need a great attacker than an AM like Ronaldinho. We need a very good CD in last summer but Senderos who managed to come, etc.

Yes we did some good signings like Flamini (the best since 2006/07) and Pato (great BUT again for the future) but overall our transfer campaign since 2006/07 is very bad with respect the condition of Milan players' situation (some players need replacement like I said above : Maldini, Nesta, Seedorf, Inzaghi) and what Milan's need.

Acording to Corielle this Brazilian guy Felipe Matteoni will be a Milan player in next few days! He had Italian pasport,he is already in Itali on negrotations with another clubs(Arsenal,Ajax...)but his M. said that is Milan best solution for young defender.
I read somewere that Felipe is fast like hell..like Silva he had good status in Brazil..
