"This decision rests with the club but I can only stress that Kaka is very important to us and that his exit would be hugely negative," said Maldini, as quoted by The Daily Mail.

"For me this deal sounds incredible. No player is worth this much, not even Cristiano Ronaldo. But Ricky has said nothing about this to us. He seems pretty calm about everything."

Kaka will have the final say over whether or not he leaves Milan for Man City, and it seems it will take more than mere money to convince him that Eastlands is worth the gamble.

City apparently going to make improved offer.. 271 million euros. The Sun reported. (I know it's crap but..)

http://www.goal.com/en/news/710/manc...or-kaka-report

I don't trust goal.com at all but things are just too hazy right now and I'm scared and confused. Can we get a confirmation?

People have forgotten City owners promised Hughes a big signing. I think they'll go out of their way to buy Kaka. It seems like he might have to leave. The ball is in Berlusconi's court.. if he decides to surrender to City at the cost of Milan and Serie A then it's a different thing.

However I want Milan to reject the offer and make a statement to City that by throwing cash it can't buy way into loyalty and the love for a club. It might be a statement to all clubs around the world.. To Barca for Messi, Juve for Buffon etc. What Arsene Wenger said was something I completely agree with. These ridiculous sums of money shamelessly throw in in times of global turmoil mean reaching a level that makes me feel ashamed of being a fan of such a sport.

If Fester sells Kaka, all true fans might have to stop supporting Milan for a while to make a point. It's amazing that people who actually pay all the money are not cared for at all.

Wouldn't it be awesome though, if Kaka rejected the move himself?

I think, btw, that all fans should remember a promise made to us by Galliani a few years ago. He did, in fact, tell us that he would NEVER sell Kaka. Now it's time to see how much the fans really matter to Milan, or if, when the push comes to shove, money matters more.

You don't understand. It's no longer about Milan, Inter, ManYoo etc.. Its about all clubs saying no to greed and yes to loyalty. City are a much worse form of Chelsea and they'll be going after all clubs/players. Unless all say no, this 'mega project' ot Eastlands will not succeed. Robinho sold out and I would live to see him get relegated. Oh how I wish City get relegated.

Mister Prime Minister, have pity on the working fan.

I can't say I'm not heartbroken though. The latest news is that Milan have accepted City's offer, and that Kaka's father and agent have flown to Manchester to meet with City representatives.
Don't get me wrong here, if you notice what I posted over the few days,

1. I strongly believe Kaka is going nowhere b/c of what he came out and stated right away.

2. I think ManCity is just grabbing the headlines in Jan or the media is putting ManCity in the headlight b/c it is very very quiet this Jan.

3. Kaka is the only superstar available for ManCity to have a small chance to get bc Milan is struggling-1 win in like last 4 or 5. And Milan is not in CL.

4. Whats annoying is the fact that Galli is not coming out and reject the deal right away. Actually thinking about that over the last few days, maybe Galli is doing that b/c he is indeed afraid if he rejects it right away, Man City might come with 200M or something. OR Galli and Co is using ManCity as a smokescreen to sign guys like MExes, Agger and ....

Personally, I just find this kaka Saga really funny b/c sofar, only one side is really saying stufff. Galli and Co is not saying anything, Carlo is not saying a word, I mean, if I am a reporter I will sure ask them IS KAKA leaving and at least get a no comment from them.

In short, I believe Milan is just using Man City to deflect attentions in order to sign the person they are after, ie Agger or Mexex

Well it's not really true that just one side is saying things. Milan have stated that the offer is being assessed, last night on Milan Channel. And Maldini and Seedorf have also talked about it, although they are saying that Kaka seems calm and composed.

Thankfully, the captain of this club has stood up and said how important Kaka is and how crazy this deal sounds. If Kaka needs an example of what a footballer should be he needs to look no further than Maldini. The loyalty and commitment to the club, Kaka claims to have, is embodied in Maldini. And I hope when Kaka is thinking about this deal the statements made by our captain are in the back of his mind. You have to believe Maldini has, or will, make his opinion known to both Galliani and Berlu.

Kaka cleared to talk to Man City
Page last updated at 20:22 GMT, Thursday, 15 January 2009
AC Milan have given their Brazilian superstar Kaka permission to talk to Manchester City.

City are thought to have bid in excess of £100m for the 26-year-old, whose father Bosco Leite is his advisor.

"Milan has authorized the negotiation with City," said Kaka's spokesman Diogo Kotschko. "The next step is Kaka's father will talk to Manchester City."

The director of the club's in-house TV channel, Mauro Suma, said Milan were looking at City's offer for Kaka.

But he added: "Considered does not mean decided or accepted. We are not faced with a decision made or a done deed."

However, a Milan spokesman said Suma's comments were not an official statement by the Serie A club. Earlier on Thursday City boss Mark Hughes said the club's big-money offer for the playmaker makes football and business sense.

Talks are ongoing between the clubs over what would be a world record transfer.

"The money involved is something we feel, from a football and business point of view, works," said Hughes.

"The process has moved forward at a pace this week but people shouldn't be thinking that it is just a whim."

The sheer size of the figures involved in the proposed deal has made headlines around the world, but Hughes said it was all part of a considered plan from the club's hierarchy.

"It's been done with structure and understanding," he said.

"We're all very much involved in that process; myself from a football point of view and (chief executive) Garry Cook and (chairman) Khaldoon Al Mubarak from a club and business point of view.

"It would be naive to think I have not been involved in discussions over this transfer. I have had meetings about it and have had an input."

Earlier, City assistant manager Mark Bowen claimed that the record-breaking transfer was near to a resolution.

"We believe the deal is very close," Bowen told BBC Sport Wales.

"We are selling the future plans of the club to the player. "I've read a lot about his love of AC Milan - and that goes without saying - but even when people said the deal was dead, that was not our understanding.

"The situation has been a surprise to everyone but obviously negotiations have been going on for a fair while.

"How close we are I don't know, but our understanding is that it is very much a strong possibility that Kaka will be coming."

Some media outlets reported the deal was off because City had decided to withdraw their offer to Milan.

An AC Milan spokesman told BBC Sport on Thursday that they would not be making any further comment on the "special situation", but Kaka's adviser Diogo Kotscho said his client would be open to a move if Milan wanted to sell.

Kotecho insists any move would be done for the right reasons and not just for the reported £500,000-a-week wages. It is not impossible, if Milan let us talk, then we will see what City have to offer," Kotscho told BBC Radio 5 Live.

"Kaka knows about the offer but the club did not give authorisation for talks, so we did not meet.

"It was a great proposal but it's not about only money.

"We have to see if they have a project to become a Champions League team and become one of the top teams in the world, and to stay there long term."

Previously Kaka had told the website of Mediaset, a TV company owned by Milan owner Silvio Berlusconi, he wanted to stay at the club for life.

"I want to grow old at Milan," he said.

"I repeat what I have always said. Other clubs can make all the offers they want but it all depends on Milan.

Great proposal? What exactly is that proposal? Nobody seems to care but seems to be most critical.

Note also that Milan has not accepted an offer; what gives the City people's optimism is beyond my understanding.

What is understably sensible but in fact ridiculous is that the offer makes 'football and business' sense:

1) Football is not a one man show. Kaka`s arrival is not going to make an immediate impact. Milan is an example - the system is grown / evolved around him. Same for Shevchenko in the past. Without the system, it's very difficult for any one players to shine.

2) To change people's concept of Man City football doesn't come from buying a big player. For god's sake, this is not a celebrity show (except, admittedly, Beckham). The eventual reputation of a team rests on its laurel to win, win, and win. Chelsea used to be a terrible team, but they buy several strong players and won the league, TWICE. Man City doesn't have the depth in the squad to accomplish that.

3) $120m. Makes business sense in our world filled with financial turmoil? How dare him say that in the first place when millions suffer??

Bottom line: The message counts.
