Ricardo Kaka Thread

I am glad that this mess is over now. It's been bugging me for a few days with this transfer. Looking back at the whole development of the story, I had been suspecting if it was a well-planned plot.

Indeed, I think the winners of this are Man City, Milan, and Kaka. Here is my thought:

1. Man City shows that they cann turn out to be the next Chelsea and I think this is a sign to show off their money power. This is a free publicity and promotion regardless if they actually offered or were willing to spend 106 million pounds.

I personally don't think Kaka worths 106 million pounds, to be honest. If it were the case, Ibrahimovic, Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, would cost 80 million pounds or more. The values of these players will be doubled from last year and that's a significant inflation. The consequence of this will eventually benefit the big clubs because the rich just transfer money to the other. I think this is what UEFA/FIFA have been trying to avoid. I think in the end they might intervene the transfer.

No disrepect to Man City, I think they have to get a more competitive squad and a new coach to attract star players. By looking at the transfers made so far, I don't get the impression that they are ready to spend trillions in winter to recruit new players. Everyone knows that winter time is not the time to get a new squad. I don't see much benefit of signing Kaka at this moment, unless they want to give him the rest of the season to adapt to EPL. Spending 106 million pounds just for a guy to get used to England, come on now.

2. Milan has been facing the 'Kaka saga' for couple seasons and each time it ended with a statement that Kaka is non-transferable. Then, Kaka came out and said how much he loved Milan. This time I think they took a different approach to deal with this by playing relunctant to turn down this offer, and then left it to Kaka to decide. Eventually we know how it was ended, and I think this will stop most of the transfer rumors/speculations around him because he is so commited in Milan. As a matter of fact, I think this is similar to a good cop/bad cop sceneario - good cop: Kaka; bad cop: Galliani.

In addition, I think if what has been posted here is correct - Kaka never asked for a raise and it's the management offered to him. It might be a sign to other players - don't ask for a raise, look at Kaka. This might be a pure speculation from my own.

There has been no doubt about Kaka's importance to the club. Now with all these rumors and situation resolved, Kaka has to be the focal point after Maldini's retirement. The club has been heavily relying on Maldini to be the spiritual leader. Let's face it - Ambrosini and Gattuso don't have the charisma of Maldini's. Gattuso won the fans because of his hard work and "madness". I just don't see him to be the next Maldini. He can be captain because of the years he served Milan, but can he be the symbol of Milan... I have my doubt. I think the image and personality of Kaka is well-fitted. I really couldn't imagine Milan without Kaka.

3. Kaka hasn't been playing that great lately (being objective here). I am not sure what's the reason why that happened. All the transfer rumors might affect his emotion as well as performance. I am not sure whether the constant interviews about playing elsewhere give him other thoughts or ponders. I hope the end of the situation can give him peace and let him focus on his game.

As for the rest of us, I think we are the victims of this transfer rumor. We have been worried, saddened, and angered by the news reported. At the end of the day, at least we are happy that no one left Milan...

Nice post mate, but I have to disagree with City being a winner.

They are a huge loser and now clubs as not only did they came out empty hands this time, they also created an image that clubs can asks whatever they want if City comes knocking. On top of that, from this Kaka's saga, a lot of players had been asked about what if the offer was presented to you, would you go question, and yet, no players said yes, all of them said no. It shows that players at Kaka's level wants to win more than money. And currently City cannot win anything. Even if City actually got Mourinho to coach them, I doubt guys like Essien, or Deco and others would follow as City is really far from the TOP 4.

I beleive that if City finishes this year around the 9-12 spots, no great players will come and they will be paying 30-40M for good players whom are not in their prime, guys like Owen, Veira, Gallas, Seedorf and Morientes.
I think City needs at least 3 yrs to be consider a threat to the top 4 in EPL.

From a public and marketing stand point, City lost big. From future signings standpoint, lets say City went and ask Inter for Ibra, I doubt Moratti will sell Ibra for 120M now since Berlu turned down the deal, as Moratti wants people to know he is as big if not bigger than Berlu.

First off, Geo, I was not drunk, I was sleeping as it was 3am my time and I need to work in the morning. Well, not that I am working at my office now.
Secondly, this is exactly how I thought would happened, well still waiting for Cap to hand his armband to Kaka.

Lastly, I told all you guys Kaka is staying all along.

Well, I am happy that this is finally over. And I do enjoy reading what non-Milan fans had to say about this, they all seems to respect Kaka a lot more and believe that he just set a great example for all players to follow, except Bellamy.

One last thing, the biggest loser is not Man City, as the biggest loser is Bologna as Milan will kill them this Sunday.
