Player inducteed in 2008-2009 season

We are only midway through the season and already 10 new players have been inducted in the side. The latest being Matteo from Greimo and if reports are to be believed then an eleventh one Daniel Agger from Liverpool is on the way. After a below par performance last season these induction were much needed to improve our performance this season. Unfortunatley there is improvement this season but not as much as we expected since we are nine points adrift of league leader Inter.
Therefore I have started this thread for MM members to comment, analyze, discuss, predict and much more on these players. I will start the proccedings with some analysis and questions that I have in mind related to these players.

ARRIVALS IN SUMMER

Ronaldinho: Without doubt he is the best performer among all the new inductees. His arrival and performance has won him the spotlight at Milan and this has proved to be the final nail in the coffin for Kaka as far as his departure is concerned. So it seems Ronaldinho's arrival has come at Kaka's expense something that many feared before Ronldinho's arrival.
Question: Is it wise to have Ronaldinho for Kaka?

Andriy Shevchenko: In simple words he is past his prime and it would be better off to sell him (Or return to Chelsea if he is on loan) then to persist with him especially considering if Kaka departs (Which I desparatley hope not) we will revert back to our old formation of two strikers so we will need a better striker then Sheva behind Borriello and Pato.
Question: Should Sheva be sold?

Phillip Senderos: Personally I rate him a lot higher then how he is being currently rated. Even though he has hardly featured this season due to injuries I still feel his loan move should be turned into a permanent one as he is a perfect solution to our ageging defence and there is no doubt in his talent he has got all the right ingredients for a CB.
Question: If we sign Agger, Gallas or any other CB what would that mean to Sendros's future at Milan. Will he be sent back to Arsenal or kept at Milan?

Other arrivals in the summer transfer window were Christian Abbiati, Matthew Flamini, Viudez, Cardacio.

ARRIVALS IN WINTER

David Beckham: His arrival remindes me of Hernan Crespo because when Crespo was signed by Milan he like Beckham recieved severe criticism. As most people believed he had very little to offer to Milan but when Crespo's loan move ended and he was departing to Chelsea most of the fans wanted the move to turn into a permanent one. I hope this turns out to be the case with Beckham because he can offer us alot more then marketing. First of all he is the only wing midfielder in our side (Taking into account Zambro and Janko as RB and LB respectively) which mean he will give us width in the midfield areas along with his pinpoint crosses and passing. Secondly his playmaking skills (Of pinpoint passing and superb vision) are very similar to Pirlo so he can serve as a good back-up to him and even reduce the burden and workload of Pirlo. So in my opinion he should stay past his loan spell.
Question: Should Beckham's move be made permanent?

Mattioni: I have never seen him play but the fact that Manchester United and most recently Juventus were linked with him shows that he is talented. He is also being termed as the next "Maicon" so he probably plays at RB right?

Thiago Silva: I heard a few weeks ago that he will sign a contract with Milan tomorrow but would join us in june (Because we already have two non-EU players this season). That tomorrow seems to have never come because after that he has completely disappeared from the news. I wonder if he has eventually signed a contract and become a Milan player?

-yes sheva should be sold, or go back to chelsea, dont know if he's on loan or not.
-senderos is crap and should not be here!
-Mattioni and Silva are good buys IMO, they havent played a single game for us so far but they sure look talented, and thats what we all wanted, younger and talented players! I hope they prove to be worth playing here.
-I couldnt dissagree more on ronaldinho. who is playing very badly!! I expected a lot more from him. yes he scored some goals but most of them are from freekicks or penalty. But he offers very little in our gameplay. I would sell him instead of kaka and buy us a striker. to play with pato and a new partner with behind them our Kaka! who shouldnt be sold.
-Abbiati is doing a good job so far, nothing spectacular but decent enough.
-Flamini should be in the team IMO, but carlo has his favourites and will destroy flamini, he wont ever be the player he was at arsenal under carlo.
-viudes , cardaccio are sh*t buys, maybe they are good but they havent even player 1 minute for us so far. why the hell did we sign them? if we hadnt done that silva wouldve been able to play for us NOW!

what kind of contract has sheva ? loan, or what ? and why it is unknown ?
and why the f*ck did goal.com wrote " OFFICIAL: Milan sign Agger " and next day when some journalists asked agger's agent, he told them that milan never even contacted liverpool, or agger....
and when ever some player sign for milan, acmilan.com write it, but they didn't say anything about agger, so it's not true obviously...
and acmilan.com always say a kind of contract which some player signed, but in Sheva case, ZERO, they didn't say anything... what, sheva is a mystery ?

Just out of curiosity, what do you all think of David Beckham? As a new "fanatica" of football (inspired by my daughter's poster of Kaka and attending MLS games in 2007). I did not really know who he was until he joined MLS and the LA Galaxy. (And then they made a huge deal out of him coming to Dallas that year, but he had an ankle injury and didn't show up). :P

Anyway, just curious. I saw him play against FC Dallas in 2008. So it is interesting reading about all of the publicity he has gotten with AC Milan. I think he is a decent player and could fit into your team. The problem in MLS is that his team (LA Galaxy) stink!

I went to the Man City game and there is something about Vuidez, trust me. He will be good.

Cardacio is the kind of player we need at Milan. We were not patient with Gourcuff, I dont want to see us make the same mistake again. We need to loan him to another Seria A side without any options to buy.

Abbiati has been good, Shevchenko is a good sub.

Cant wait to be free of Beckham and Senderos.

Beckham sucks..can't believe milan is trying to buy him..

I'm actually not surprised Milan are after him. Merchandise certainly wouldve boosted.. he even plays decent.

My opinion...

Dinho - Good at an individual level, but physically not brilliant and has struggled to integrate as part of the team.
Sheva - Wasn't needed and it shows.
Senderos - Waste of time
Beckham - Better than expected, but to make him permanent at 34 isn't looking too far ahead
Mattioni - NA
Thiago Silva - Looks to have potential, but should be judged next season
Antonini - Underused considering he's a fairly useful player
Zambrotta - Probably the best signing we made last summer, he's been very good
Borriello - Showed a little promise, but injured the rest of the time
Flamini - Desperately underused to the point it seems almost criminal (especially as Ambro starts ahead of him).
Abbiati - Another contender for best purchase for this season, major improvement to Dida and Kalac in the last few years.

I agree with this post except for one thing; Sheva has been nothing short of a dud this season.

I just went through the players who were introduced into the squad this season, to which I consider them inducted.

As for our best purchase, he's definitely performed better than expected of him, and has made a number of crucial saves. Though in the long run he may not be the best purchase we've made, until now of the players bought in this season him and Zambrotta have performed most frequently and consistently at a high level.

I wasn't surprised to see Abbiati play well for us. He has performed at a high level for many years now.

I think Shev is on a loan. I remember reading that somewhere. How long was his contract with Chelsea anyway?

Without even seeing him play regularly, I think Thiago is by far our best purchase of the past few years.

Apart from Senderos I totally agree with you especially in Flamini's case. As for Senderos I think we need to give him another season. He has the talent to perform but has failed to adapt to the Italian brand of football. He is only 24 so he can only grow from here we just need to show more patience and give him more time cause we do not want to have another Gourcuff episode.

I don't think Senderos is a particularly bad player and does have some potential, but definitely I don't see anything in him to suggest he has a part to play in the present or future at Milan. Even in England he was nothing more than a bench player for Arsenal and never really looked like he'd progress to being a starter. Personally, I think he's an average defender that will do well for a mid-table Premiership side.

Gourcuff I feel was different. At Rennes he'd shown a lot of potential and was already one of their key players. We got him and we didn't make use of him in his first season. The second got even worse where he simply couldn't perform anymore and now, in a side where he's got freedom, responsibility and the confidence of those around him, he's showing the ability he showed glimpses of back in Rennes.

Senderos will cost us 8 mil to sign him permanently. I say NO. We need to stop throwing money like that around for players that we need to pray that they work out. He had a full year and never impressed. Before that he had a lot of time at Arsenal and.....he was decent/good is some games and bad in others. All in all he never fulfilled his expected potential over there.
As for in Milan, yes, he's been injured a lot and that's played some role in him settling in, but my oppinion is that we need to save that 8 mil and use it elsewhere.
