^^ Pirlo suspended for Reggina. I assume Flamini will take his place.

Seeing the lates developments: Pirlo's suspension, Flamini subbed off in a friendly, Beckham also, Dinho needed on the field by Berlusconi, Senderos played in Glasgow, Bonera not, etc. I assume we'll in the end play this team vs Reggina:

---------------Abbiatti--------------
Zambro---Bonera--Maldini--Jankulovski--
---------------Flamini--------
----Beckham---------Seedorf-----
--------Kaka'------Dinho-----
-------------Pato--------

I think this can be expected, with Ambrosini, Pirlo playing the derby most likely.

Is Ambro injured? If he's fit, i'd expect him to play instead of Flamini, with Seedorf taking the Pirlo position, like he did when he was injured early in the season.

Being at home against the bottom team, i think we can afford to take a small risk on Mattioni. Which is why i'd like to see this line-up

---------------Abbiatti-----------------
--Mattioni--Bonera--Maldini--Zambrotta--
--------------Beckham-----------------
-------Flamini---------Jankulovski-------
---------------Dinho------------------
--------Kaka-----------Pato-----------

Beckham can just sit in the middle and spray his passes around. Flamini and Jankulovski can makes some runs, while Kaka plays further forward.

Lets hope for 3 points!

I think this formation is more likely to happen than your one Jim (even if it could be good, that would change for once and would allow to rest Seedorf for the following game).

Anyway, with this formation against Reggina, we'll have to take the lead and "kill the game" the most quickly possible, then we could rest Kaka', Pato and ... Beckham or Seedorf.

Anyway, that won't happen ...

Why does everybody want to rest some of our best players for the derby? We have a full week to recover after the game against Reggina (there are international friendly games though I won't worry about it much). We play at home against the rock bottom minnows Reggina. Doesn't that ring the alarm, the familiar situation where the visitors play with 10 men behind the ball?

Because Ancelotti made some contradictions in his statements ...

He once said that there were no problems with the condition of players before the game against Genoa.

After the Genoa game, he said some players were tired ... but he didn't change anything and anyone the following game.

The team also had a friendly game in Scotland ... I don't know why. Anyway it would have been a lot smarter I think to play these friendlies at home instead of flying each time away. I don't think that a travel by plane is the ideal way to allow players to rest in the week (even if it's short travels ...) !!

So here are the few reasons why we should try to rest some of our key players before the Inter game and because it is Reggina. Resting players doesn't mean "not playing" but replacing them before the 65th minute.

All these talks about resting players, what about the 3 pts before the derby. Imagine Inter have another slip up this week, we could be 3 pts behind or 4 pts behind before the derby as long as we win. However, if we lose pts, even if we win the deby we will still be three to four pts behind.
Forget about resting players, these 3 pts against the worst team is a must, anything less is unacceptable before the derby.

Do we need to put our best players for 90 minutes against the currently worst team of Serie A ?

Considering we have a week to prepare for the derby, I think it would be sensible to treat this game very seriously and so play the strongest side. That said, take off the key figures (e.g. Kaka and Pato) early if we're in a good position.
