Just a note, they changed the rules for this season.
Top 3 spots get automatic qualification to CL in Spain, Italy and England. Fourth spot is the one that needs to qualify. I just hope we dont slip too far down. I think we should not think of the scudetto anymore and instead just focus on ourselves without looking at Inter. (Inter have a hectic CL schedule coming up, and I remember 3 or 4 years ago, Fabio Capello's Juve was much stronger than this Inter, and they had less help from referees, I remember only in 8 days we cut a 10-point lead to 2-points sometime in March). I still believe there could be a chance, if the team dramatically changes and sensationally wins every game to the end of the season. But for that to happen, risks need to be taken, just like how we saw when Pippo came on, and we saw how good we dominated the game. We cannot afford to play with 1 striker anymore against smaller teams. |

Just to be clearer on the new rule: it is indeed that top 3 will qualify for the 3rd round; but the 4th team will now have to compete with another "big" team from the highly-ranked league. It is all that crappy Platini's "new deal".

It's because Flamini is secretly sick and tired of the same old teams progressing year after year, but he doesn't understand that in the end it's down to natural selection as to which teams advance and which don't.
Just because Carlo says we've given up on the Scudetto (which I don't buy for a second, because he's cried wolf on this too many times), doesn't mean that we have nothing to play for in the league. |

OK, ready?
First Half: Inter gained the advantage by having a perfect chance to spice the game by that incredible Ibra header that went away in the first minute. Inter took the ball for a few minutes and pressed till Milan got the ball. Milan tried to go through the right but didn't manage to have that final third finish. Muntari had to make Beck's life hell and managed to do ok, Santon had a daunting task, and was the weakest link and that will continue in the second half. Pato as the lone striker has proven inefficient, and last night he showed that, by always going down he left spaces in front of him that no one went to cover, and when he was in the front he didn't manage to cope with Samuel and Chivu's tackles. He needed to play as a second striker, providing for Pippo, helped by Ronnie and suported by Seedorf, that happened in the second half. As Milan were edging closer to Inter, Inter scored their first, it was going to be a goal no doubt, but if it weren't for the hand ball, involuntary or not, that IS a handball. Milan press, but to no avail again because Milan are sticking with playing witha Christmas tree with Pato upfront. Inter start a coounter again, a foul, Muntari drives a high one for the tall Ibra who neatly assists a running Deki, stunning goal!! Second Half: Milan are determined to do better and from the first instant they are pressing, Pippo is warming up, and when he comes on, Pato moves to a second striker position and is an intant hit, Ronaldinho being on top form now and Pato's pace are paying dividence and Milan are sure they would score. Inter don't make changes and Mou is sticking with playing counter attacks and long balls, a catanaccio technique. Maxwell, Vieira and Burdisso would come in instead of Adri,Muntar, and Deki, three attackers with three defenders. Ronaldinho is a hot engine going on and on and provides an assist, goal for Milan and they continue, but Mou's changes are paying devidents to a degree, Vieira is tackling Maxwell is running, and Burdisso is like a chicken trapped between a dozen hens, he doesn't know where to go. Final whistle, Inter win, but Milan were better, had a rightfull penalty waived off and goal that was a handball, but really, as much as I hate it but can't we win one once with the ref helping us this time around? ![]() You guys had it all season, why not give us a break too? ![]()

I'm in agreement with hitmannq8, it's not the referees that are to blame for this it's the management and the players. We have been shockingly bad against small teams and have often scraped a win due to a penalty. It's quite typical we'd beat Lazio 3-0 then have our ego massaged by the smaller team the next game only for us to 'battle' for a draw. We should be winning games like that outright, not requiring 'help' like our cousins.
Quote:
Janka should not be playing left back, he never has been or will be a great defender. He's a wingback at worst but should be playing left midfield. Kaladze should not have been brought to the club and only was due to Sheva, he's made a mockery of defending for years. Maldini, class as always but his legs are slowing letting Adriano sneak behind him for the 'goal'. Legend forever but must call it end a day of season. Zambo. The only one of the current back four I would let play there next season. He's consistent in his performances and still does a decent job up the wing when needed. Seedorf, as usual played his 1 good game in 10 due to being against a challenging team. He's the best player at the club at keeping possession of the ball and sneaking a pass in but his effort is always dependant on the club he plays against. We should keep him and only play him in the bigger games, we need a more hungry replacement. Note: Gourcuff will not fill this position. Pirlo is just not himself, we cannot afford to give him protection with 2 DM's as it makes us too negative overall. Becks - Didn't get into the game, would be nice to have him but not for the price Galaxy are after. Ambro - Milan running through his veins but when he's not in the game he just gives away cheap fouls. Best attacking header of the ball in our squad! Ronny - Some flashes of the old self but lost without more players to make runs. Pato - This kid has a big heart and will keep trying, but he needs more support around him. He needs someone up with him (4-4-2) or runners from midfield who can get there in time. The later we cannot do, and the former we never do.

yes I agree, wd u abt Janka,, Anthonini is more suitable choice. As for as maldini.. past is the past, just tell me, with strikers sneaking behind every now then.. how long you can afford him. and you still wana win league. Ronie was good last night, he created many opportunities, He showed desire, I feel good abt him, he will rediscover the old ronie, as he get more playing time. |

I dont even feel like commenting. I will just say that Pirlo and Seedorf do not deserve to were sacret ac Milan shirt.
Looking at the way Pirlo behaved on the pitch, like a primadona, it made me sick. Now you people realise why I wanted Pirlo out of the future milan's squad. he has lost his running capacity and plays lons passes spreading the play even when a simple pass and a run is necvessary. He is a last man in the midfield, and his reactions vs Robinho in Brasil game and vs Stankovic on 2nd Inter goal were simply disgusting. for me he is no longer a player I admire. **** off untill you decide to work hard as every nobel player. Seedorf can also go and play for Ajax. He is a legend of world football but he is not simply too slow. Kaladze - no comment on his positioning. dinho - did well and I want him to stay in Milan untill the end as he has a heart of a champion, so does Beckham! Carlo - also no comment needed. Ask Flamini about that. --------------------------------------------------------- Now **** off from Milan and take Galliani who masacrated the squad with his last 20 transfer players. And leave only man who can do somrthing on mercato - Leonardo. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Karim, congrats for a win. Refs have ups and downs, it goes like this in serie a. When you celebrate scudetto dont forget to invite Galliani and Ancelotti as they helped more then Mourinho who hasnt prooved nothing in Italy and was outsmarted in 50% of the games this year. BUT, Mou has 110 home games without loosing... still, the squad he had are tromendulously strong. In any case he is 500 times coach Carlo is. As a football fan, its nice to see Adriano playing football as a real player again. And to see young Santon as Azzuri future in duels with future's best forvard, Pato. cheers guys. -11 on almost half season. And now Im waiting for Giancarlo or Carlo-Ancelotti of whoever that **** is to come and explaing how a great team with great Galliani, Ancelotti, Pirlo etc. Can loose scudettob 3 years in a row in a middle of the year. **** off from Milan all of you who are not ready to work hard and fair and fight as lions for milan's shirt!

Pirlo has no heart?? He has been the only one over the last few years to have the guts to take the ball from defence. While the rest of the team has been hiding he is the one who always wants the ball. Just because he isnt the kind of player who goes sliding into people doesnt mean he doesnt have a contribution to make.
Seedorf not deserving to wear a Milan shirt?? Thats excessive, while I agree the guy needs some serious competition he should still be part of the squad as he would provide quality from the bench if he isnt playing well enough to start. Ronnie a fighter?? I dont think so, at least Pirlo and Seedorf chase people back. Ronnie is the only player in our club that puts his hands on his hips and watches players run past him. He is only interested in running on the ball and has no interest in making runs or helping out the left back. It is no coincidence Jankulovski is looking worse than ever at defending. Its because he has absolutely no support from Ronnie. Add to that, the incompetence of Kaladze and the lack of strength and pace of Maldini, how can a fullback even consider running forward to cross without the his colleagues crumbling to pieces behind him. When Ronnie is in the team, left back is our worst position. having two world class centre back would be a massive start!! The real villain is Galliani. Where is our Maicon? Where is our Santon? Where is our rock solid defence to compete with Chivu and Samuel? Where is our striker partnership to compete with Zlatan and Adriano? Beckham has given us nothing and but marketing power. Ship him back to America. Bring in a real defender (Agger whoever), a real target man (adebayor whoever) and Gourcuff who will add more than any of our current midfield is. He has more scoring potential and technique than Ambro, Rino and Flamini and much much more movement than Seedorf and Ronnie. And if Ancelotti persists on playing Ambrosini, Kaladze and Beckham then his head must roll too. ------------Abbiati--------------- -Zambro--Silva--$£$£--Janku----- ---Gatusso---Pirlo---Flamini------- ---------------Gourcuff---------- ---------Kaka-------------------- -------------Pato--------------- Above all, we dont need any kind of revolution here at Milan. All we need is to ditch the passengers like Kaladze and bring in some players that will add soemthing. We have alot of great players who need support from some new world class additions. Thiago Silva seems to be a great start, but we are all fools if we think we have a partner for him. If Nesta does come back, then it will be a bonus!! Adding Gourcuff or an Drogba type player is an absolute must. I dont think there is a way to accomodate both. Ancelotti has been $h!t all season long, but Wenger and Benitez are no replacements. Im coming to a point now where I would nervously accept Rijkaard.

The only coach I would accept at the end of the season if Ancelotti had to go would be someone working in the club right now and who was a player in Milan ... so, the only guys are Tassotti (but if we change Ancelotti, taking Tassotti, his assistant, would be a real change ?) and Leonardo (is very good to evaluate potential, but we don't know if he is a good coach as he never coached).
Let's give a team to Leonardo, for example the youngsters, and let's make a plan like Barcelona did with Guardiola ... or let's plan this for Maldini if he wants to be a coach. |

Milan displayed two faces last night. A face of nervousity in defence where Maldini, Kaladze and Jankulovski were stripped thin by Inter's attacking machine. They were slow, they did not mark the strikers and midfielders of Inter and they looked shaky. This was the reason we lost the game. This side needs new faster and quicker defenders. You cannot win Lo Scudetto with a defence like yesterday.
On the other hand we witnessed for many periods of the match a sparkling, creative and innovative offence where Ronaldinho and Pato in particular shined like beaming suns. We made Inter look like fools at times and I almost shed a tear when I saw how beautiful and spectacular our defence was. Our midfield were patient and smart to create chances. The only flaw in Ancelotti's master plan was the execution of our chances. Lo Scudetto will be hard to score now. Second place and CL partizipation looks more likely. Inter will have to go badly down in pace if we are to have a chance. If we fight hard, continue our attacking flair, score on our chances and get our act together in defence we might just be able to beat the Old Lady for the second place. We'll see... Forza Milan!!! |
