I thought Pirlo has good game...plenty of running, defending. He didn't sit back and play that deep lying role as usual. I'd like to see more of this.

haha, lol, no thanks,

i actually don't hate Carlo, he is just too much in this club and his era is past, he did well in era of 2003-2007, but he must leave now.......and he is not smart like Ferguson, .. ferguson changes his players and tactics over the years, carletto not... btw, wenger is much worse than carlo... he is in arsenal even longer than carlo in milan, and he did what ? he won the premier league 2003/04 last time, just like milan, but milan was in the finals of CL 2003,2005,2007, and arsenal was only in 2006... arsenal is now 5th in his league, and milan is 3rd,
so, arsenal has a similar situation with his coach, but, their coach (wenger) is much much much worser than carlo..., so i don't understand why he didn't get fired already.....
only difference is , milan is bigger club than arsenal, ... but still, they should sack wenger

What the hell was up with that free kick at the end?
can you (or someone else) tell me what was exactly wrong with that free kick? i couldn't watch the match so i don't know what was going on there ..

It's more than clear now that our defense is problematic, that none of our defenders, not even our legendary captain, can perform well DAY-IN-DAY-OUT. Senderos was good against the German, but terrible for most part of the season. Maldini was OK overall, but has well past his prime. Bonera suffered the same inconsistency as Senderos, and Kaladze is just a mass. The only person who is reliable is Zambrotta (we better consider Janku as a midfielder since he doesn't seem to be like a defender anyway).

With rotation almost every week, it's almost impossible to find consistency in our backline.

***

In attack, the ONLY consistent player is Pato. The rest of the players, Kaka` included, are very inconsistent, whether it be forms or injuries.

***

In midfield, again, we lack momentum. the only player seems to be gaining momentum is Flamini, but Ambro and Pirlo are no longer effective without the warrior Gattuso, who is out for 6 -9 months, again due to injuries.

***

Then we have the coach who seems to always favor 4-3-2-1 against the smallest team, and (more so) a management team that worries more about finance, tour, friendly, than bringing in players that the team needs.

***

Given these quick analyses, I consider the following as the culprits:

1) Management: Brought in the wrong players: insist on attack when our defense is shambling apart;
2) Carlo Ancelotti: Fielding sometimes overly defensive team
3) Players: Speed

***

Oh well... just my two cents...

***

A rumor from Italy is that Carlo complained to Gallini about mid-week friendly against some unknown teams, and the management is not pleased about Carlo whining. It may be time soon that we see Carlo leaving milan.

I would be curious to know has Ferguson's demand for a player ever got turned down. i heard Ancelotti wanted Drogba & Adebayor and got R80. I heard he wanted a defender and Sheva came.

I guess the only one he wanted and actually came is Flamini, who seems to be adapting well now in Italy and gaining forms.

As soon as the free kick was won, Pato came to the spot of the free kick with an intention to take it. So do Pirlo and Bonera (??). Anyway they take a while to decide who's going to take it. We see Pirlo standing next to the ball, Bonera standing a few steps away and Pato at a distance, lining up for a Roberto Carlos type free kick.

Finally the referee blows his whistle and this is what happens,
Pirlo lays of the ball to Bonera (doesn't do it well) and the latter stops it for Pato to bang it in. Pato is a little slow to react and by the time he hits it, the defenders have closed them down and it's blocked.

The actual event (which i strongly recommend to any potential footballers as to how not to take a free kick) was much more funny and the commentators were also surprised at how bad it was.
Immediately after the kick is taken, the referee blows for full time and we're given a shot of Cassano laughing.. I felt like he was laughing at the wasted opportunity.

Wenger is much better than Carlo. People tend to forget Wenger took Arsenal from being a mediocre club to one of the best in Europe. People say Arsenal isn't as big a club as Milan or Madrid. Exactly, they aren't and whatever they are, they owe it to Wenger. He created a golden generation of players like Henry, Adams, Vieira etc. and a brilliant young batch of Fabregas, Van Persie, Clichy, etc. He's the best out there as far as dealing with kids is concerned. Can't you see what he'd done with Clichy, Flamini, Hleb, Ashley Cole etc. These players were sh*t when they joined Wenger.

He's obviously in a patch right now but I'm very certain that Arsenal kids will be big over the next couple of seasons.
And before commenting on their current position in the league, don't forget they've been missing key players this season and for the past 2 years, they've had a lot of injuries to deal with. I'm a little surprised he's sacrificing the present for the future but that's as bad as Milan hanging on to the past.

Wenger is way ahead of Carlo. He's made a team that consistently competes for the title for a large part of every season (except the current) without the necessary funds that Chelsea and Manure have.

I'm not a Wenger fan but let's give credit where it's due.

Pirlo had a decent game considering how much he had to track back and help hte defense. It just makes you realize how incredible Gattuso was for holding the midfield and preventing teh ball from getting to our defense. Now that is does, Pirlo tracks back to get it from the defense just outside our box, makes the pass and by the time he gets to the midfield we lose possession.

I don't know why you guys think Flamini had such a good game. He is very reckless in challenge. He is lucky to not have been sent off with all the fouls he was making in the first half alone. His passes are better that Gattuso's but his job is to defend in the midfield not be offensive. We already get that with other players. Flamini does have heart, but not technique.

Pato is amazing. The refs need to start protecting him, however, as the fouls are coming faster and harder.

Beckham is ineffectual again. Welcome to LA.

Seedorf not only is holding up play like last year, but now is he is turning the ball over. It was bearable last year because he'd hold onto possession while slowing the game. Now he slows play and gives it away.

Anyone know what's the deal with R80? The commentator said he was healthy and just not called up. Is there any truth to that?

Ciao Carletto

Exactly; Carlo Ancelotti came in in 01/02(?) when Milan was in a patch of trouble (much like what we are experiencing now; so yes he may well leave), and won 2 CL within 7 years (Wenger, with all due credits, none).

Let's give credit where it is due.

This is gettting embarassing.

I am all against changing a coach in mid-season because it can even further distabilize the team and we can miss out even on the 4th spot yet again. Right now our only hope is that this team somehow gets their act together and we get in the the CL again.

BUT......having said that I am normaly against such a change in the middle of a season....................HOW do you stick with a coach that persists on playing a player(Seedorf) who has been so bad for so long now. I am going to puke my fukin brains out if I see Seedorf start a game for the next month. But we all know Carlo will do it again and again and it's so fukin frustrating.

HOW do you stick with a coach who after being 2-0 down decides to put Favalli and Emerson on? How do you stick with a coach who goes to a 14th placed team and starts with only one striker on the field after it has been proven over and over again that this tactic has let us down for the second season in a row now. We had at least 6/7 crosses in the first half but all pointless simply because Pato was alone among 3 defenders all the time. WHAT KIND OF TACTIC IS THIS?

Instead of playing Pirlo further up the field, he waits for us to be 2-0 down and wastes a sub on Emerson so he can give Pirlo the freedom of going up the field. All this happening while he insists on playing Seedorf from the start every single game. NOT that Pirlo has been great or even good, but from the players available he was the best suited for that position today expecially when considering that Seedorf has been the worst player in Milan this past month. All of San Siro let that to be known a few weeks ago when 60,000 people were wistling at the "#10's" efforts.

I am not a big supporter of Mourinho, but the man's got balls. If you don't perform and do what I tell you to do, you sit on the bench and listen to my orders. That's what we need at Milan, and maybe these premadonas will start playing some football then.

I also want to be fair and mention that not only Carlo is to be blamed but the managment also. For getting us a backline that even my neighborhood team can score 2 goals on.

Havings said all this, I hope that Carlo will be shown the door because we can't keep this up week in week out. I am not nearly as pissed at the team for not performing, as I am at Carlo for not making them feel the consequences. How long do we need to see a certain player or a formation defeated and embarassed untill we see some changes? What is it with this stubborn idiot that persists on doing the same thing over and over again?

It's not only about a team or trophies. Wenger has established a club. Ancelotti already had the best club in the world when he came in with a brilliant set of players at his disposal. Wenger hasn't been able to purchase even a single world beater. All of his best players have come in when they were young and unestablished. His club doesn't have the repute or finances to buy a Kaka so he has to content with players like Arshavin.

Arsenal had won 4 league titles and 3 F.A. Cup titles in 40 years before him came and have won 3 league and 4 F.A. Cups in his 12 years. He's done 2 cup and league doubles, had an unbeaten season. Arsenal have finished in either first or second place in the league in eight of Wenger's eleven seasons at the club a record unparalled in their history. Carlo has been 1st or 2nd only two times. I don't want to play with stats since they're very misleading but Carlo hasn't nowhere been as good as Wenger (not that he can't be).
