I watched the 2nd half and while Gourcuff's skills and perception were clear to see, I didn't really see him "putting on a show". Still, I have no doubts we should do all that is in our power to bring him back.

I said Gourcuff was back in form few weeks ago, I was wrong, it looks more like he will end this season with some great performances and some bad/decent performances.
He had continuity in his performances for the first 6 months, then followed a very bad period for him, and now I think he will be inconsistent for the last few games. He hasn't been really rested yet (one game here and there since his form dropped) ... PS: I watched the end of the game, after the end of Milan-Torino, so 30 minutes I think ? PS1: I tried Veetle for the Bordeaux game, OMG, that's pretty good !! |

![]() First of all it would be impossible to even win a tournament like that without movement from the players. I'd say it's hard even to qualify to the knockout part of the tournament. We saw plenty of movement from the entire team in that tournament. We were all left with wonderful and beautiful football in that CL adventure. I deeply disagree. |

As someone already stated here, a few great games means nothing in a long season.
There is no doubt that Pirlo, Seedorf, Dida, Janku and even Sheva still have quality that win a game or dominate a game, but at what price. 5-6 horrible games in a row for 1 great game? Thats something we cannot afford. |

Ancelotti has ruled out bringing back Abate:
"Abate has improved plenty, but a winger like him would not fit into our tactical system," Ancelotti told Tuttomercatoweb.com. (from goal.com) -------------------- Yes, God forbid we should be able to make some tactical variations... |

Zambrotta yesterday kill Abate on that side..he destroy him!! Great choice by Ancelotti to put on left Brotta and not Favalli or unexpirience Flamini, when Flamster play for Arsenal I watched a many games but this performance from last night is unbelivable.

And its true we dont use wingers, but why the hell cant he be usefull for us, a winger could break a hard game against a small side open. like serginho did for us in the past. or like people said, use him as a fullback, look at serginho, his runs on the left side were a big problem for many teams. |

It an exact quote, I can read italian to that level. Carlo said Abate has improved and matured but Milan does not have a habbit of playing with wingers.
But Carlo will be in London next year so it doesnt matter. ![]() Abate had noone to play with, Torino was simply awfull. Im sure we can use Abate in some parts of the season in rotation sistem as he can play as a fullback and as a RM in "romb"(1-2-1) formation in the middle. I'd take him back and used him in planned doses.

Like some said already hereabout Abate.....just because we don't normally use wings in our formation it doesn't mean that we can't have some different options and use them when we need them. We NEED variation in this squad which will give us the option of fielding a different formation every now and then and further allow us to use an element of surprise.
I understand that it would be ridiculous to ask for a world class winger because we don't normally us them....but there is nothing wrong in taking back own of our one for close to nothing in value and make use of him whenever we need to widen out our formation. Some of the comments that are made by Carlo and the management are just plain stupid. By the way....Gaetano D'Agostino may be on his way out of Udinese (Channel4). I think he is a great player....one that fits the description of 'players that haven't made the big jump yet' made by Galliani. He can spray some great passes in the middle and although not great defensively he is still better and tougher then Pirlo in that department. He's had a great season this year and finally made the breakthrough and is fulfilling the expectations that people had in him some years ago when everyone thought he was going to be great. Particularly the first part of this season was great for him and he was perhaps Udinese's best player....but the team's form went down after that and the second part of the season has been tougher for D'Agostino although he still is one of the team's best performers. We need new blood in the team and definately someone to give Pirlo a run for his money. Gourcuff is great but if Carlo stays with us I really don't have much hope for that, so D'Agostino might just be a great option. I actually mentioned his name a few weeks ago but there was nothing on him in the media.....and now there are reports that he might be out the door in July. He won't be expensive either.

Why put a square peg into a round hole? We don't user wingers period. Abate's game is speed and wide play in space. He can't do that playing RB because that is just up and down and tight space when he's attacking.
Abate is an asset of Milan and can be used as an asset in acquiring other players in Serie A that can prove useful to use with their strengths. Imagine offering Napoli Abate + another player + cash for Santacroce. Think outside of the box people and stop being so cynical n critical. |
