Great stuff Geo.

As for Inter playing bad, I think it had more to do with crashing out of CL more than anything.

To be honest, if Ibra is hurt this weekend, we will have a great chance in catching them.

But then again, I really don't want us to win the league this year as it means, not just one more year from Carlo, it will be another year of Dida and Seedorf and even Sheva if he scores a goal or two.
Most importantly, Galli will come out and say that we won the league that means the squad is fine. Kind of like what happened in 98, and that took another 3-4 yrs till Milan really have a great squad.

To be honest, we really should not finish lower than 3 since the scandal, esp last year as there are really no teams beside Inter that should have an advantage over us. Call me a critic or a dreamer or whatever, but to me even if we finish 2nd with -1 pt, I still would not think this is a successful season as we were never in the race since last Nov.

One more thing to add, if we do manage to win all our remaining games and lose the league by 1 or 2 pts, I will look back at the Napoli game and think, gosh, if only Seedorf did not play that game....

Don't worry about that as Galliani, Ancelotti and even the players themselves stated in medias our weaknesses and that we need reinforcements ... so I don't think that if we win this Scudetto (I would say that our chances are about 5% ), that will change anything to our next mercato.
What could happen is a higher budget and an extra motivation for next year ... I can only see good things happening in this case.

Although I'm yet to be convinced that we'll nick it in the end (though I'll keep praying every night for it), I agree with Geo. I don't think that winning lo Scudetto will make management big-headed. Quite the opposite, we've seen how we can come up top in December and wilt away to -17 on Merda within a few weeks of itself. We've also seen the extent of the damage that key players getting injured will cause to our campaign. We also have a few players that need to be replaced properly (Captino and Emerson to say the least, and I hope Favalli as well).

I would expect management to go about it the right way. As everyone has agreed, we are a team in transition, and a few kinks still need to be sorted out before we can become something of a Man United (ie: win more than one trophy a year :P). I have faith the management and the players know what they want, and know what they're doing.

If Becks can play like he has so far this season, I hope we get him back during the winter, that would save us the money to buying an alternative for Seedorf (for now at least).

Next season I hope to see a team somewhat like this:

--------------------Pato
Ronaldinho-----------------------Kaka
------Flamini-------------Gattuso
-----------------Pirlo
Zambrotta---------------------Mattioni
------------Nesta---T.Silva
---------------Abbiati

The average age doesn't look that bad then, no?
And I know Mattioni hasn't played much, but hey, he did inherit Cafu's jersey, that in itself must mean something, no?

Not only are we back to fighting for the Scudetto, but with a Milan win, and Genoa loss this weekend, Milan are guaranteed the 4th spot and qualifying for the pre-group qualifiers next year. I'm hoping for more.

i think we only have 4 matches to take over the 1st spot bcos inter's last match is in san siro against Atalanta and there is NO chance they gonna slip.

I think we will probably slash the points difference but it's very very very hard to win the scudetto.

It will be the greatest thing in years if it happens

Despite the slim hopes of a scudetto this season, we cannot let that affect us. We must focus on our objectives and win the last 5 games, the rest is up to fate.

IF Lazio manage to take 2 points off from MErda then maybe, mayyybe the nerves will get to merda palyers in last 4 games. Do not forget Milan has tough opponents in last 4 rounds. And that 7 points is a HUGE difference that we made urselves by playing shamefully defensive football in some matches where we lost points just coz of the tactics in 2nd half of the games.

Many people seem to forget the bold part of your post. Milan should be in first position in Serie A with many points above Inter and Juve this season if Carlo didn't waste so many points because of his tactics.

No, many people seem to forget that we have limited and old players in defense.
5 goals less in our net and we would have been much closer. Plus the ref "mistakes"...

TO be honest, if we had a better start, say, instead of losing the first two games of the season. There's 6 pts.
Then the Adriano's handball, lets say thats a tie-1pt
And then the Lecce and Genoa games, where they tied up at the very end-4 pts.
Lastly, the most recent Napoli game where we tied-2 pts.

We should have been 6 pts above Inter and not 7 pts under them

Let's stop with the "if", it's the word for regrets, and regrets are the worst thing in sports as that means you look at your past instead of looking at your future.

I agree that we dont have great defence but we are not the only one who have this situation. What is the difference between these days with times in which we were losing or drawing after leading 1 goal? The difference is that Carlo approaches the game these days differently. Plus of course choosing the same players (from one game to the other game even they played terribly) is now reduced pretty significantly (with naturally the support of the unavailable of the favorite players of Ancelotti, like Kaladze, Ambrosini, etc.)

I can't remember any single match since the game against Bremen in San Siro in which Carlo changed the tactic to defend with all cost or at least to defend after leading. He even in some games used the more attacking formation after we were leading.

The referee mistakes is only a way to run away from our weakness. We lost many points because we JUST LET the opponents attack us so easily after our leading.
