It is clear that the defense is the one that must be repaired.

But the midfield is also a mess!!!!

Why do I say that? Simply because the midfield is so static and the ball movement is completely terrible. Nobody moves, nobody runs. There is no runs coming off the midfield. There is never a single midfielder in the box when we get the ball out wide. *perfect scenario: Beckham has the ball wide right and we all can tell that he is going to cross.......yet again not a single midfielder makes a run from the midfield into the box and we end up with only Pippo inside and occasionally Kaka.
A lot of people here mention the header that Gourcuff scored a week ago or so, where he passed the ball wide and then sprinted in the box to head it in. Same goes for the Ronaldinho goal against Inter where he hit a 40 meter ball to Kaka and then sprinted into the box to head the ball in.
-These are plays that should happen 3,4,5 times during a GAME...and not 3,4,5 times during the season.
And this is just one of the problems. The other one like a mentioned is that ball movement is so slow that even a U17 team will know where our attack is going. There is no movement off the ball and there is no inter-changing of positions. Everything is so static that sometimes I simply can't believe my eyes that I am looking at a Milan midfield and not Serie C players.
Compare how the midfield plays today to how the midfield operated a couple of years ago and you'll see a huge difference.

This is why I would take the midfield repairs ahead of a CF. We need new blood in the midfield. Players that will push some of the current ones. Push them to play better or push them out of the field....I don't really care which one because it is painful watching such crap midfield performances from a club like Milan.

Great news guys. Nesta has made a rapid improvement in last couple of weeks. Today, according to calciomercato, he played the whole training with the team and was moving with ease...

Why do we think that we can play Pirlo in a more offensive role? Pirlo used to be a more offensive midfielder, but he struggled in that position.

It was Carlo who realized that Pirlo needs time and space, and being between the oppositions' strikers and midfield gives him the space, time, and room to operate to the best of his abilities.

The X-mas tree formation is the basis for Milan's success, and I don't think that making Pato play as a attacking mid type of player (even for parts of the game) would benefit Milan, it would actually frustrate us. He is a striker, and when he does drift out wide, he still carries the ball too long. Maybe part of that is because he is young, but, I think it also shows that his instinct is to be a striker in the Ronaldo (R9) mold rather than some sort of Sheva-hybrid type.

With regards to Dossena, I think he'd be good to boost the strength and depth of the backline, but I also am skeptical of his ability to be a starter, but, who knows? Of all fans out there, it is our club that takes players that are supposedly "finished" and brings them back playing better then ever.

I think Grosso is a great option, but I doubt he'll come, unfortunately. The more I think about it, the more I think that Santacroce is the perfect option for Milan. He is so talented, so strong, and he truly has the ability to be world class.

I just worry that if the 6+5 rule comes into play, that Milan, if all the transfers that many here want, we put us in a terrible position, because then the money we invest in non-Italian players will be a waste in that other clubs know that we have to offload certain players and then can take our players at cut-prices.

I don't think Mexes will come, though I wish, but I just am nervous about Thiago Silva, I'm hesitant about how well he will preform. Am I the only one?

I set my mind like this: Thiago is very likely to be talented but we just can't tell that he will most certainly make an impact ......and I would like to see someone already proven and in "optimal age"....for instance - Vidic (he is just used as an example, not a reality).

If Nesta doesn't recover and Thiago turns out to be a descent player, then we just haven't done nothing regarding our defensive problems.

Now it's all going to depend on whether or not Carlo is coaching us next year. We should really make a decision fast, and if Rijkaard or somebody is coming in, speak with him and identify some transfer targets. It's amazing how refreshing a new coaching change can be, specially when we're essentially stuck with the same system, players, and favorites (Seedorf, Pirlo) for the last 6 years.

While the article discusses his apparent willingness to sell to one of the other "big 4" in the EPL, I can see him opting to sell him to a club which won't be a direct domestic competitor....maybe like Milan?

That's not correct about Pirlo. He began his career as an offensive playmaker playing in a similar position to Roberto Baggio (his idol). At Brescia he was a big success early in his years, and also in the youth level of all the Italy sides (where he was generally the star player). Also, in his first season at Milan, he sat for around half a season on the bench, but was eventually given a starting role by Ancelotti as the playmaker in the side behind the forwards. In this role, he was not just a success, but much of the reason we were even in CL 2002/03, as he was performing superbly every week, scoring vital goals and making important assists. The only time in his career where Pirlo has generally struggled is at Inter, where he simply wasn't given chances. Even now in Italy, he's being used higher up the field by Lippi and his game for the national side is excellent.

The reason Pirlo was moved back into the deep playmaker role was because at the start of the 2002/03 season we had a lot of high profile attacking players. With Rivaldo, Rui Costa, Seedorf, Sheva and Pippo it was difficult for Carlo to fit in all these players into the side so Pirlo spoke to him about a role Carlo Mazzone had tested in Brescia, where Pirlo is used deeper so that he can spread play and get a little extra time on the ball to make use of his long passes.

There is more and more rumours about Ronaldinho's departure. I for one and still torn between letting ronaldinho leave and keeping him. I think we could cover the money we gave Barca by selling him to Man City. We might even make a few dollars. If he was sold I would like to see Adebayor at Milan. I still think like most people that Milan need a powerful CF. But If we could get Ronaldinho back to somewhere near his best then I would prefer he stays.

On more pressing issues, I think Milan first capture should be a world class centre back or a up and coming world class centre back. Management should send a clear message to Milan fans that they want to explod onto the UCL scene next year.

We need to add depth to our squad. We need younger players that are keen to make an impact when called upon not old ones who whinge when they don't get a game.

In today edition of Gazzetta dello Sport there is an article about Yoann Gourcuff. It says that Gourcuff wants to return to Milan and that the coach of Bordeaux Laurent Blanc admitted it too. The only problem that the author of the article sees is the silence from Milan. In his opinion we are not to happy to welcome him back and would rather take the cash. I really really hope that he is wrong.

The other thing is that we will officially renew Favallis contract when we qualify for CL. After the retirement of Maldini, Favalli will become the leader in the locker room.

Milan star Kaka will be playing for Real Madrid next season after agreeing personal terms with presidential candidate Florentino Perez, according to AS. AC Milan are yet to make any comments on this.

Somehow i sadly feel that this time there is some truth in this........more so because of this came just after carlo declared that he will stay with milan. May be Kaka really wanted carlo to leave and milan to go for a new coach who gave more importance to youth........

Every year the same story, Madrid come, Kaka unsettled, the agent confirms and the rest is we all know, Kaka is still with Milan.

I don't know why people can bother just to read such this news.
