Carlo Ancellotti: 'YES' or 'NO' ?

I agree 100% with Warro
Carlo is a top class coach. But his team is crumbling before him and upper management don't seem to understand the problems we face

1) For years Milan has been a very narrow team because our traditional means of attaining width a la Serginho, Cafu, Stam sometimes $heva and a faster, younger Maldini- is totally gone. Bonera, Oddo, Janku and this washed up version of Zambrotta have neither the pace nor the strength nor the skill/ technique of the previous wingbacks.

Carlo's solution: Ribery
Berlu's action: veto Ribery
What we did:

2) $heva replacement

Carlo's solution: Henry, Torres, Toni
What we did: Olivera Ronaldo (whom we should have bought instead of Oli and whom we should have allowed to recover as his Corinthians form shows) and Pato. Hence we WASTED money on strikers that 1wasn't suited to the team (Oli) 2 took the cheap, myopic route (ronaldo) and got one that is great no doubt but not quite ready to lead the front line (thought he's certainly getting there)

3)Maldini replacement
Legend or not to rely so heavily on a 40-year old is scandalous.
What we did: P. Senderrors

4) Nesta replacement
If he's injured all the time doesn't it make sense looking for a successor
What we did: T. Silva

What else we did

5)Crowded the cam position with Gourcuff, Seedorf, Pirlo AND Ronaldinho

6)Crowded the cdm position with Emerson, Brocchi, Ambro, Pirlo AND Flams thank goodness Brocchi and Emerson left!!!

7)Filled up the squad with expired names like Beckham Ronaldinho and Zambrotta who made us look FANTASTIC on paper and terrible on the pitch

Yes Carlo has his faults and he does seem biased to Pirlo and Seedorf but let's be honest you can't do more with less

The Gazetta has Carlo's bags packed, and his travel reservations ready for the 30th of May....

The paper (or channel4.com) has Tasotti playing golf with Van Basten, whom Berlu called "a son" in the same article.

We know that Papers need to print stories to sell, so I continue to keep a faint hope alive that, even if Carlo does go, that we don't bring in the Dutchman....although it may mean the end for Seedorf at the club...which is a small, almost invisible "silver-lining" on this bleak, cloudy affair.

I can see Chelski going on to win the UCL in a year or 2 with Carlo, and Milan dropping to mid-table with Van Basten, while dropping out of europe in the first group stage.

Van Basten isn't the right coach for Milan....unless he is just going to await Berlu's team-sheet and tactical summary by email prior to every single match.

What a joke it would be if this 2x failure is allowd to lead our beloved team! What a farce!

Imagine if Marco came here (with his BRILLIANT track record ) and had to coach our wild duck.....I fear the worst. Rijkaard would be FAR better and even Frank isn't as technically/tactically as savvy as Carlo- but at least he actually WON stuff

Interisting how MVB has been already judged before he coached Milan.

I initially voted for Carlo to stay (much earlier in this thread).
I've changed my mind, especially after the Udinese game.
I'm not upset at the loss, but the performance was terrible
and emotionless.

He's a great coach but it's time for him to move on.

With that said, I hope NOT to see MVB at all.
If Berlo sees him as a son, let him adopt him but keep
him away from Milan head coach.

I'm not to keen on Rijkaard either, but he'd be better than MVB.

Indeed Dru...something similar is happening with Diego and Riquelme w/ the Argie national team....thankfully the realization that Argentina could miss the World Cup has galvanized an ego reduction, and Riquelme will accept a call up next go round....

Siregar: would you employ a plumber who last worked on problems at 2 at your friend's houses, when those very friends had told you that he did a terrible job?

The final nail in the "Van Basten to Milan" argument for me, came when Cryuff recommended him for the Milan hotseat....

I cannot for a minute, consider that Cryuff wishes the club that spanked his "invincibles" 4-0 in a Champion's league final anything but ill.....

For me as well, Carlo has to go. The results, biased choices and lackadaisical approach of the players speak for themselves.

That being said, I'd take Rijkaard over MvB any day. MvB has nothing going for him except being part of Sacchi's Milan and Seedorf would actually have to work for his spot. Rijkaard isn't as bad as people make him out, and has the added benefit of being able to integrate youth team players into the team. His Barcelona also played more like a team than our Milan who at times seem like a bunch of individuals.

Finally, I don't agree with those who say Carlo is more tactically savvy than Rijkaard. Carlo deploys practically the same tactics every game (i.e. NO tactics) and employs no sort of rotation system. He keeps a good atmoshphere in the locker room and luckily always has one or two players who save him when things aren't going well (Sheva previously, then Kaka and now Pato).

Well, MVB didn't do terrible job in international level. He did pretty well especially in Euro 2008 considering the squad he has (clearly worse squad than last Holland's best team (De Boer, Stam, Bergamp, etc). I don't know about Ajax since I don't follow Ajax performances in recent years (last five years). Maybe Ajax won the Dutch league in the last 5 years or at least last year.

What Rijkaard did before going to Barca worse than MVB and Rijkaard did suffer in his first season with almost sacked in December in his first year with Barca. But he finally did a great job in Barcelona (wonder how people judged him before he took Barca and how the people reacted after Barca's performances in his hand).

Rijkaard has of course more experience, no doubt about it but people can't judge the future result of a coach based on only certain results of the coach.

Do you really consider an elimination against Russia in 1/4 finals (no disrespect towards Russia but they were far to be the best team in the competition) as a success for Netherlands ??

They were clearly less good than some years ago in defence I think, but they were better in attack ...

Not a success. A success is winning the championship. What I said is he did pretty well in Euro 2008. You can't always look at the end result, you also should look the whole results of Netherland's performances in this tournament (you can search it in google).

I don't understand why are so many people here against Rijkaard?
I don't want to say he is the best option, but he certainly isn't "a crap coach".

I just wish some Changes in this club, it doesn't even matter anymore to me if it's going to be Carlo's departure or refreshing the squad.
The last year has made me completely confused and demoralized.
Things are so clouded at this moment that nobody knows where all our problems are coming from.

Success for Holland could be considered to be getting to the finals.

Its been widely reported that Van Basten´s players had a "mini-revolt" and went totally and completely against their manager´s instructions in order to achieve the results that they got in that tournament.

So, it can be said it was "inspite of", and not as a "result of" his coaching that Holland got that far in the Euros.

So while I maintain that I want Carlo to stay, I will say again for the record, that I hope its not MVB. Rijkaard, even Steve McClaren would be a better choice, seeing as with less resources, he got FC Twente to a higher position in the league than Ajax...can you even BELIEVE that?
