So I think it's possible that Madrid was just waiting to see what happened with Ronaldo, Villa, etc., and that some deal could be struck for a portion of the Kaka money. I actually wouldn't mind having both him and Van der Vaart (and VdV's wife, too, of course ).
Not trying to burst your hope or anything, but I am 100% sure Berlu wants a straight cash deal.

Beside with CR7 going to Real, I think one if not two of VDV or Sneijder or Robben will go the other way.

Well, I really think it will be a good idea to offload Pirlo and any others if the right offers come in. As it looks, even with Dinho playing his best, Seedorf starts to run again and two to three great signings(Dzeko, Santacroce and Maxell/Essien/Hernanes), I still don't see Milan beating the likes of Barcelona, Real or the big 4 of England.
I am not saying starting from ground zero, but if an offer for Pirlo is 30Mil, 20mil for Gattuso, 45mil for Pato, 8mil for Janku. Why not? B/c that way the MGT must spend on new players and at the same time develop youngsters.

Getting Santacroce might be good now, but how about giving a chance to Alberterzzi, since he is suppose to be the next big thing. Guys like De Gennerao, Abate and Polashi might really turns out to be the next generation of Neved, Figo and Pippo.

THen there are players like Cardacio and Mattioni, I actually seen Cardacio in action and he is pretty solid, very much like Gago.
Oh, I absolutely agree with you. If Chelsea are willing to pay the price quoted (or anything close to it) for Pirlo, then I would definitely sell him. He hasn't been the same player the past couple of years. And as much as I love Gattuso, if the price were right, sure, it would just be good business. The one I'd really hate to see go would be Pato, but if Chelsea were willing to pay the 42-45 million pound figures that are being reported, that's just crazy money for a 19-year-old kid who might have all the talent in the world but still is far from being a finished product.

This absolutely has to be the start of a huge rebuilding process. Milan can't sell Kaka and just pretty much stand pat with the older players while bringing in one or two guys. They have to think of this as an opportunity.

It was a straight cash deal. But that doesn't preclude Milan from turning around and buying one of those players later in the summer once Madrid is certain they'll be available. I'm not saying this is going to happen, so there was no bubble to burst. But it is a possibility. Milan could just as easily spend the money there as anywhere else and since those players have become at least somewhat surplus to requirements, they might be easier to get.

Also, I'll be absolutely shocked if either of those players goes to Manchester United as part of the Ronaldo deal. United will probably try to keep Tevez and add from Wigan. At least all indications are that this is what United has in mind. These "player-plus-cash" swaps rarely come about anyway.

No, as club captain he is the main representive of the players at the club, but if he's not good enough for the starting lineup, then he shouldn't play. A bit like Billy Costacurta in his last years at Milan as Vice Captain.

I hope we end up with Sneijder, I am not saying Hernanes is not a good player but I think Sneijder is better.

Player plus cash deal is rare b/c it involves the more contract talks.

But what is the point in selling a guy like Pato ??

You have a wonderkid, if you sell him, umh 50M € for example, who will you get ?? Are you going to try to replace him by one established star (if it is to do that, let's keep Pato and let's just be patient, in one or two years, he will be the best in the world), or are we going to use that money to buy 3-4 good players ??

The first choice is useless, the second choice is just stupid as we would just kill our season before it started (yeah we would have a bench, but our whole team would be some kind of equivalent to Genoa or something like that, no wonderkid, no star, just a good team playing to be in the Top 4) ...

Even with Pirlo and Gattuso, they are needed regarding their experience of big games and CL ... selling these two players would just make us looking like a kind of older Arsenal (Borriello has no experience, Pato still has no experience of the very high level but he is young, we don't have to worry for him, Thiago Silva has no experience too).

Our best years were when we had young players + experienced ones ... we already have the experienced players, we should use that money from the Kaka' deal to get the young players. Let's imagine there is one wonderkid (or a bit older, until 23yo) for each position, so GK, defence, midfield, attack (we have Pato + maybe Dzeko + why not Paloschi, so no need to buy any other guy then), that means using 50-60M for 3 wonderkids who will learn from the older ones.

Pato will not be sold. Come on guys, get a grip.

I don't think anyone else will leave, and if Pirlo and Gattuso stay this year, they will most probably retired in Milan. Next year they will be 31 and 32 respectively.

I was just replying to the ones who said that we should sell him if the price is like reports mention it to be ... it would be like suicide for the club (at least for the next season and maybe the few following ones).

So all of Mattioni , Sheva and Senderos officially gone too. Interesting loan moves, little achieved.

Anyway, let's see the good part of these loans ... they were not purchases !!
(wow imagine if we bought these players ?!)

Sad for Mattioni who didn't have the right to show what he was worth whereas he was introduced like a very good player ...

Congrats to Leonardo who has gotten his Masters degree. He's said Pirlo and Pato won't leave as has Galliani, who has all but confirmed all key players will stay (Pato 100%). Galliani has also said Sheva, Senderos and Mattioni will all leave. He also said should Dzeko come our 2 Non EU players will be Thiago Silva and Dzeko.

This is probably known information here, but I wanted to say I'm glad these guys are finally talking and starting to shoot down all the rumours, it's really about time. Also glad to see that trio leave, especially Sheva and Senderos.

We need to plan ahead. Having thought of late, I would be tempted to go for a list of players consisting of the names Dzeko, G.Rossi, Santacroce and Bochetti or Pisano. This wouldn't be the final list (let's not forget players like Abate and other needs). Whilst my list is not full of big names, I think it has a lot of quality and would really strengthen our squad in areas we need it most. G.Rossi is a player I'm really keen on. A few years ago whilst at Man Utd Rossi said he's a Milan fan and I said at the time I hope we keep an eye on him. He's now maturing into a high quality player that would be an interesting link with Pato supporting Dzeko. I'd make him and Dinho compete for a first team spot in that regard. A guy like Hernanes would be useful but given the EU situation, I'm hoping we can wait till next year.

You are right but we weren't spending money last year either so there was little chance of them being purchases

A Master Degree offered !!
I want one offered too, it would allow me to stop my studies right now instead of still doing 2 years to get this Master !!

PS: MilanMania don't offer a Master to some of the forum users ??

Seriously 2 years for you MA geo tav mine was only a year and a half, the half being time spent on my dissertation. It could be worse at least leonardo wasn't offered a honorary degree like most lazy celebrities. Does anyone want a sport sciences degree unless you work for a big football club like Milan it won't do you much good.

Good idea for a user title (where it says 'registered user')

Congrats to Leonardo
