And that's the frustrating thing with Berlusconi's reluctance to buy players: If he invested properly he could earn money, both by the team winning trophies and by raising Milan's profile in general (again shirt sales etc. etc.). Certainly that's what Real Madrid is counting on. But how many people can afford to pay $100 for a Kaka jeresey or a Ronaldo jersey if they don't have a job or if their working hours are cut? Things may get worse before they get better and if the economy is really in the tank there will be less income from merchandising, fewer ticket sales and even the possibility that some corporations will have to cut back on the luxury sky boxes. Even the television money that would be assumed to be locked in for the length of the contract might become unstable, as we're seeing with Setanta. I think Madrid is taking a gamble.

As for Milan, the biggest problem is that Silvio, Uncle Fester and Carlo all fell in love with the players Milan had and refused to believe they couldn't all be Paolo Maldini and play until they were 40. Very little was done to groom replacements and as the older players signed new contracts or other contract options were triggered, the salary burden only grew. Loyalty and love for what your players have accomplished is fine, but sometimes hard, cold business decisions need to be made. Even now it seems that Milan is reluctant to cash in on players such as Pirlo and Seedorf while they still have value. So we watch them grow old at Milan rather than sell them and use the funds to buy younger, more dynamic players while reducing the salary burden at the same time.

All the latest comments from Cristiano Ronaldo etc. makes me proud of being a Milanista. I know Kaka left us, but unlike Cristiano Ronaldo he has only praised us, saying that he'll always be a Milan fan. I just have to respect that, if Real Madrid played Milan I would still cheer for Kaka, even though he left us.

The fact that we have someone like Maldini makes me proud, but we don't only have Maldini, we have Baresi aswell or Billy. Then we have someone like Leonardo who's a true Milanista even though he 'only' spent a few years at the club as a player, or Boban. Bottom line is that even though we sold Kaka, we'll still be the greatest club, and although some people may slam the 'Family' thing that's going on, I think that it's something to be proud off.

Has anyone heard any rumours regarding neymar. I have heard alot of good things about him.

Goal.com has Milan interested in Gallas. I HIGHLY doubt this to be true. I'm getting the feeling that since the Dzeko deal has been snubbed by Wolfsburg, that Milan are turning their attention back to Adebayor. Remember, last week Ade's teammate Nasri said "Adebayor is going to Milan". We may be seeing this next year:

In all honesty, with a strong midfield behind and defense behind this, I think this is a major boost, ESPECIALLY if Dinho goes back to his Barca form from 2 yrs ago.

With Zambro and a new LB pushing up the flanks, I think we can have a good defense along with A LOT of attacking potential. My only concern is the depth of each position if this is what the team is thinking

The bold part is the key point in what you said. I don't know how possible that is, but if it does happen then our attack is more then set. The Dinho at Barca IMO is easily better player then C.Ronaldo, Messi or Kaka. Having that beast of a player back to that form would totally put us in the favorite position for many things.....especially if we boast the defense as well.

Like I said, I don't know how possible that is though. Some have totally given up hope while others still think it can happen. I personally hope for the best and hope that we are all surprised by the Dinho we see in September. And even if getting back to that shape is difficult, hard work can make anything happen and if Dinho is willing to work and has motivation then why not. After all, even if he doesn't go back to that form and gets to a decent enough shape then Dinho still is a player more dangerous then many out there and capable of producing multiple 100% scoring chances in a game.

Let's wait and hope for the best. I for one refuse to write a 29 year old off the books. All he needs is hard work, although as easy as it sounds, that seems hard for him to do.

correct me if I'm wrong, but when Leo said "wings" he meant attacking fullbacks a.k.a. wingbacks. right? that's why they said everything about Maxwell coming to Milan, etc.

Yes, you're right. Although we don't know his plans for Ronaldinho and Pato. Does he see R80 as drifting left, or will he play behind a front two? Will Pato be a second striker between R80 and big man, or off to the right?

Ronaldinho would probably have lots of problems maintaining a physical presence in this position. He has to run and track back a lot more, and I don't know if that's the best way to get the most out of him.

This assumes that the responsibility for replacing Kaka would fall to Pato; not as a traditional playmaking trequartista, but as simply playing deeper to receive the ball from Pirlo and charging forward from before the final third. He does this a lot, and having him get more of the ball would help prevent him drifting out of games. We'll also get a hell of a lot more fouls. Of course, the great advantage of this is that he wouldn't be giving his back to the goal, and would be facing THE DINHO most of the time, so one-twos with him are easy (something that became a trademark of Seedorf/Kaka)

Pato would play on the outside of the big man, hoping to feed off of flicks and overlaps from the full backs. He can still cut inwards and shoot, but he's acting almost like a winger here. I don't know if this is the best use of him.

Not a lot happened. To be honest, Real always spend big and seems to always have money to spend, while Milan never spend big and always seem to have no money to spend and complains about taxes..... Why the heck is that?

Real is really shaping up to be a good team in my opinion.

1) Raul
2) Robben
3) Kaka` (what a mf)
4) Huntelaar
5) van nis
6) C. Ronaldo

The defense is going to suffer again and again and again, just like what happened every single year.

I am just wondering, why arn't we going for Carlos Tevez? The guy wants to leave United and he would be an ideal replacement for underperforming Sheva and aging Inzaghi. I have always wanted Tevez at Milan since his Boca days as the guy is simply a beast and a fighter all the way, something that would give opposing players problems throughout the game. Real just signed our best player and signed the best player in the world last year for a world record fee, and yet we can't manage to buy one world-class player, and yet owned by a multi-billionaire. Pato-Tevez partnership would just rock the boat!

Well, Van Nistelrroy is leaving.
Raul is a part-time player.
Saviola will be leaving.
Well, with the two Diarra and Garcay coming in. Their defense is not as weak as people think.

As for Tevez, I mentioned that awhile ago, but I guess a lot of people here might not like him as much as Dzeko.

I like Tevez. LOL.

Seriously if we don't sign him, many clubs will including Juventus, I read in a local newspaper.
