Don't forget Higuain in that list of attacking players that they have.Anyhow, if he is listed then we should definitely look into it if we haven't signed a striker until then.

I am just interested in who they will sell. They'll also sell players for cheap simply because they want them off their wage bill now that they know they won't use them....and besides that the whole world knows that they'll sell (or in other words just force those players out)

If anyone has a list of the players expected to leave can you please post it. (a concrete list taken from a quote from their management or even a newspaper) I can kind of figure out who will leave Madrid, but was wondering if anyone has a more certain information.

I just read that CR7 was with Paris Hilton while ManU sold him to Real.

Damn, he is like Dennis Rodman of football.
Gosh, now I wish he plays for Milan. B/c it is really fun having someone like that on a team. Oh wait, Milan does have one, thats the aging pretty boy Beckham.

Beside RVN and Saviola, there is really none.

WEll, if Real does manage to snap up Villa, they will have Villa, Raul, Hunteleer and Higuin as strikers. With Kaka, CR7 as Attk mid. Sneijder, Guti and VDV as two way midfielders, Robben as a winger, Gago and the two Diarra as def. mid.

We all might think thats too much, but if you look at Milan last sept. Team had 4 strikers, Pato, Borreillo, Sheva and Pippo. With Kaka and Dinho as Attk mid. Seedorf and Pirlo as two way midfielders, and 4 def midfielders in Flamini, Gattuso, Emerson and Ambrosini.

The only difference is that, Real's team actually have quality while some of Milan players are washed up; Sheva, Emerson and to some extend Dinho(as he was not fit at all).

If you look at the record, Barcelona not only wins because they have a strong attack (>100 goals), but also because they concede little (35 only).

Real? 52 conceded.

If you look at Milan this year, Goal scored is 70, SAME as Inter. Goal against? 35 while Inter has only 32.

It's AMAZING how conceded three goals difference = 10 games. What the data suggest is that either we win HUGE (e.g., 4-0, 5-0) or lose like 1-0 or 2-1.

The problem is thus not the attack, but more because of the defense.

***

Berlusconi saying that Milan can't defend the lead is utter non-sense, and it's a virtual slap on his own face.

It's HIM who decide to bring in Sheva and R80 when we most needed a DC. Of course, we don't need to say more about this.

***

Thus, I'm not sure if 'catching' up Barcelona in terms of scoring is sufficient. In fact, Real's defense is utterly alarming, and it takes more than just a few players to fix.

When they bought Cannavaro a few years back, they thought the solved the problem. Same old.

The reason that Barcelona is capable of conceding so few, to some extent, is because of their ability to contain the ball, but that requires high-skill midfielders (coupled with strong defenders), NOT just attacker.

I don't see how putting Kaka` + r80 + Pato together actually made us having more possession. Lots of time it's Pirlo - Kaka` - Ambro/Gattuso with the wing backs.

***

The bottom line is I don't even know why Real is making the same kinds of investment they make a few years ago with big players, only to be likely to miss out again. That would be my prediction.

But of course, I might well be all wrong.

Jeff.....I don't think defending the lead had anything to do with us needing a CB. It might have helped sure, but it wasn't the issue IMO. Berlusconi is right when it comes to that because he blamed the tactics for that (not being able to hold the lead). He is right because we took our foot off the gas way to early whenever we were leading. When I say took off the foot from the gas I don't mean we should still be all out and trying to score, but on the contrary we should look to move the ball around and keep possession. Make the other team chase the ball around and therefore lose their shape both defensively and offensively. Instead, we were defending.....and not only doing so in our own half but in front of our very own box.

Just for an example...look at the way Barca defended their lead against Man U. It was that same exact way that Milan could defend a lead 3/4 years ago and we were widely praised by all football experts for the way we could spread the ball around.

To do that though, you need to move the ball around fast and then move and open up fast. Interchanging of positions and 1-2s all over the field. The static midfield that we've had for the past 2 years is not able to do that right now. So this brings us back to square 1, and essentially I think you are right in a part of your statement......that it is Berlu's fault for not reinforcing the squad at the right time.

I don't kno if anyone brought him up here, but what do you guys think about Moussa Dembele (from AZ).

It seems like chelsea/genoa are in the running for signing him, but others teams - including Milan - are also interested.

Youtube example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xi-NKt3A2nI

He's young, very talented, he holds on to the ball very well and has a really good dribble.

Anyone?

One advice to Kaka: stay away from CR7, Herpes is a b*tch.

-----------------Abbiati-------------------
Antonini------Silva------Nesta-------Zambro
----------Rino-----------Flamini-----------

-----------------Dzeko-------------------

This would be a more believable map. And I can actually see it working, assuming we buy the two up top.

Now the actual problem with our team lies in our backup. We lost half of our bench in the last week. What do we do to get like-for like quality to sit on the bench? Rather, who do you want so that we can replace quality with quality during the games, and in case of injuries?

Right now we have

Borriello
Ronnie
Ambro
Bonera
Kaladze
Jankulovski

Chop and change to your hearts content, I'm really interested in everyone's ideas.
My reasoning behind Thiago as RB is based on his attributes. Technically he's very good for a defender, has pace and is capable at running at opponents if need be. Let's not forget he started his career as a Right Winger, then DM, then RB (I think) and finally CB, so it's not necessarily a role unknown to him.

I probably would be more comfortable were we to get a fullback who could be a starter immediately (not convinced Antonini is up to the task), but I felt it would become a lot to ask for in one mercato.

I think our bench is pretty good if we add quality to the starting lineup. You've not added Seedorf (potentially excellent coming off the bench) or Pippo. Them, added to guys like Dinho (well, he's in competition with Rossi for a starting spot), Bonera, Borriello and Janku adds a lot of quality on our bench.

We'd still need to strengthen, but it's manageable imo.

It's a shame we can't have both Hernanes & Dzeko, unless one of them has a secret EU passport somewhere.

A part of me still thinks we should wipe the slate clean and have 1 summer of mass changes rather than gradual tinkering that gets us nowhere. If Pirlo & Gattuso really want to go then let them. We could get £30 million for those two and considering their age that's a great amount. Donadoni is also calling Ambrosini so why not let him go to Napoli in deal with Hamsik.

Clichy, Maicon, Sneijder ... all players we could make use of.

I know we'd be getting rid of high profile players, but i think it's a time for new heroes and new leaders on the pitch.

Additionally, when did we let Mattioni go?

Yes' this is correct, but for the time being, we have no wing backs unless some of the youngsters which are meant for return turn out to be "non worthy".
It might happen they all end up like Gila...or Gorky (but that's another story completely).

For now, these are the players that are good enough IMO, but I didn't hear any rumors about signing defenders or full backs at the moment.

Sorry for repeating, I made a mistake. It should have been: "unless some of the youngsters which are meant for return turn out to be "worthy"."

Gazzetto dello sport ran an interview with Dunga where he talked about Milan wanting Miranda and Hernanes.

Quote:
Il Milan vuole Miranda ed Hernanes. «Grande difensore il primo. Potente e rapido. Non soffre nell’uno contro uno. Una qualità che fa la differenza. Ho un debole per il secondo. Ha la grinta di Gattuso e i piedi di Pirlo. Da prendere subito».
Roughly, he says Miranda is a great defender, powerful and fast, good in one-on-one situations. And he says he has a soft spot for Hernanes, who has the grit of Gattuso and the feet of Pirlo.

While I know Hernanes is a great player, I can only laugh when Dunga says "he has a soft spot" on Hernanes... coz he plays some players that are twice under Hernanes's class...

I think there is a way to sign both Dzeko and Hernanes, I read it somewhere.

Im really hoping we'll sign both of them becouse we are not desperate for good players. To be real, at this moment, Milan cant go to Camp Nou, Old Trafford, Stanford Bridge... and play an equal game to these sides.

Also, players know Milan sold their best player and firend, that he never wanted to leave ( I have some news from Italy, I have no time not to tipe them ). Players are angry and dissapointed by Milan and maybe Silvio will now invest a normal ammount of money.

Also, the X-files mistery for me is the fact that Santacroce still hasnt been signed by Milan, Juve, Barca, United etc. He is my no.1 wish for a CB.

About Thiago and a RB place: We already discussed it in here for hundreds of posts. Also with Brasiliero who knows a lot about the player. I have always defended my statemant that Thiago can be a great fullback as well as CB. He is not a CB like Bonera, that man has extreme speed and extreme shot. Also the touch and cross. Im 100% convinced that Milan's best defence would be:
---Thiago-Nesta-CB-Zambro-
------------------------------------

News about Perez: Real will earn 70mln from Kaka' commercials, sales etc. in ONE YEAR!! That is how competent Galliani is...

Don't forget about talented youngsters out on loan. The return of Abate will add a new tactical dimension to our team. He is a very good player. Also, Di Genarro will prove to be good back-up for ROnaldihno, who Galliani seems confident will play a major role next year.

Sorry, did i introduce myself. I'm Eric, and am obviosuly new to this forum!

The Dzenko deal seems difficult since his team doesnt want to sell him at all. I read on Tuttosport (not an all too reliable source, albeit) that we are interested in Benzema as an alternative to Dzenko.
Sport Mediaset and Corriere dello Sport talked about possible sales of Gattuso to Chelsea, and that generally our whole midfield is potentially on sale. It seems like we are extremely close to Hernanes.

I also read on DN (a reputable swedish newspaper) that Real Madrid apparently has a debt of 400 million euros. But since some Spanish clubs (Real and Barça, amongst others) are like cooperatives instead of joint stock companies like in Italy and England, they dont have the same pressure from their funders....
You really ask yourself how a club in dept can be spending 200 million euros on a transfer market......
