This whole Milan's mercato started very strange. First Cissokho....no one even heard of him, Then fans blindly follow the "he's the next best thing" just because WE signed him.
Ok, I understand we WANT to believe things will improve, but it seems that in this strange mercato Milan is trying to get a lot by investing very little.

Oh yeah and another thing..it was on the news just now......some escort chick from Bari talks about Berlu's mansions, "social gatherings" and other "stuff"....

...brilliant

Yes, I understand that. But every player has a value.

Milan accepted Porto's demands of 15m for the player thinking we are getting a healthy player that can play 40 games a year if required. Now all of sudden it turns out that the player is at risk for muscular problems (and even worse posture and heart problems) and it is clear that this risk may rule out the player for periods of time during the seasons ahead. So......having said that he still is a good player and Milan values him obviously so they are still willing to take him even if it means that he'll be able to only play 20 games a season (let's say). But obviously the price needs to come down. That's the way I look at it and that's the business world. It's as simple as that.

If Cissokho was not able to play the game at high level at all anymore then we would cancel the transfer.............but obviously that's not the problem. The problem is that according to reports about his condition.......he may have problems with the muscles resulting in injuries that will rule him out multiple times during his career.

Let me give another example. You go to buy a car and agree a 15,000$ price for it thinking the car is in good condition, but your mechanic is with you and tells you that the transmittion of the car is not in a good shape and may give in on you soon. Still, this means that the quality of the rest of the car is great......but do you still keep your offer of 15,000$?!?

Also when you think of it.....much of it comes down to personal dignity as well. Like I mentioned in my post a page back or so......Galliani claimed that the deal with Cissokho was done because of the friendship between the clubs. YET, many people here complained that 15mil is too much. Frankly, I think that 15mil was Porto's terms and we accepted them. Deal Done! NOW however it turns out that there is a problem.......so Galliani calls Porto and goes back on the terms trying to make them suitable for both clubs. SO, where is the friendship NOW? All of a sudden the terms are no good for them so no deal.......when in fact quite honestly the terms of 15m weren't that good for us either but we accepted them didn't we?!?

So some here say Porto did well to tell Galliani to f*** off...........I say Galliani did good canceling the transfer! F Porto and their one sided friendship.

As for the question you posed to Rick....why is '15 bad' and '10 ok'.......it is simply because I wouldn't be willing to pay 15m for a player that down the road it is possible that he can only give me a limited number of performances in a season due to injuries, however I am willing to pay 10 for his quality even if it is limited number of performances. 5 mil is not a small amount of money. It will for example take care of Cissokho's wages during his contract. It is a big difference.

In any case......Galliani never mentioned a discount, but a loan deal that we don't know the terms of. For me that is the right type of deal. Let's say Galliani says "I'll give you 5m now. Then we will see during this year the problem is being eliminated or is it in fact getting worse. If the player is getting better with his condition then we'll give you the other 10m.....and if not you get the player back and you keep your 5mil." Now.....probably not in these same exact words and terms, but more or less this is the type of deal that occurs when talking about loans.......and as I said that's what Galliani mentioned, a loan. However if Porto is demanding a high loan fee right now(example 10m up front), then why would we accept! We are not stupid!

But they'd be taking a risk that a problem could develop in the future. That's where risk assessment comes in. It's natural to be more willing to take that risk when you don't have so much invested.
Of course paying less is better in terms of savings, that's not the point. The issue is asking for a discount over a player with some present or future risk is not right.
Reminds me of Milito, he was almost a Real player a while back, transfer was called off and Zaragoza signed him, may be Zaragoza got him cheaper I don't remember but the transfer to Real was called off. His case might have been different overall (it was his knee presumably, even though he played well soon after) but the principle is the same, Real didn't want a risk and called it off.

Well, I suppose the problem is with the word "discount" (although it does often apply to damaged merchandise). I think of it more as a change in Milan's valuation of the player based on new information.

Well, if I am Milan I would cancel the offer right away. And if as u said, Cissokho can still plays buy might have injury later on...how do anyone know for sure those injury/ies are a result of his dental condition or wear and tear from playing pro football.

A fair deal will not be asking for a discount, but rather make a deal with Porto and split it to two or three installments stating within 1 or 2 years, if all of a sudden Cissokho got injured for no reason, Milan does not need to pay the rest of the installments.

I mean why would Porto takes a discount on the transfer, what if those so call potential problems never appears during Cissokho stays at Milan. Then they will look stupid for taking a discount.

That's great news, apparently now that's Zapata, Rossi, Dzeko and Santacroce all flirting with us.
Where are we being linked with Zapata, Rossi, (Dzeko is obvious) but most importantly, where is the proof that SANTACROCE is linked?!

Thats the very reason why we have medicals in the first place!! Good grief! Its as if we (at least some of us) believe that all this was done on purpose to embarass us fans and the club.

Puhleeeeease! Gimmie a break. Its waaaay too early in the mercato for the drama.

If because of the findings, he isnt what we thought we were getting, then obviously the terms must change?

As far as I am concerned, there is nothing wrong with this approach...

Hence, it makes sense to either ask for compensation if he gets injured, take him out on loan first, or ask for a discount in the price. It is not like a serious knee problem which can cause a transfer to be called off.
Exactly, couldn't agree more with the both of you! Now let's find other targets. There's plenty of time.

There are jobs out there that require physical exams. A lot of factories do that and places that require physical activity to execute a certain task. It's far away from slave treatment........I don't know why people are complicating things.

If he is physical not ok, then just cancel the deal.
But looking a man in his mouth and then trying to bring the price dowm is slave merchandise to me !

I don't understand why everyone keeps talking about a 'discount price'. Galliani never mentioned any discount. The only thing he mentioned was a loan deal that Porto has put unacceptable terms on. We don't know if the 'up front' fee is the one that's unacceptable or something else.

The only reports I've heard about discounts come from websites that make up stories. That know something about the issue, but have no clue on the details.

So again......where does this discount stuff come from. Maybe I've missed something Galliani has said about a discount....and if that's so will someone please post a link were Galliani says that he is seeking a discount on the player rather then a loan deal.

I read somewhere that Santacroce would love to play for Milan recently. But the rate Milan is doing business, they will find something wrong with those players and ask for a discount.
Like Zapata knees are not as strong as before
Rossi is too short and he might still grow, and if thats the case, it will effect his skills, 50% less.
Or Dzeko is too tall...
or Santacroce is too Brazilian to be call Italian, a huge discount.

For real, Milan is really a running joke. If Cissokho has medical problems, don't sign him. Stop with these discount stuff.

I think Porto will accept Milan's conditions later on.
It looks like the player's agent is ready to start pressuring Porto.

God, I hope this thing works out. Milan need Aly.

"It is always more complicated situation Cissokho Aly (21): after the declarations of Adriano Galliani and the release of Porto, was the agent of the French defender, Roger Boli, who, with microphones de L'Equipe, said "Galliani has assured me that Aly will start next season in Milan, the two companies are processing for a loan."

There were stories a couple of weeks ago about Milan being interested in Zapata and a few pages back someone said that milannews.it had reported that Zapata's agent said that the player would welcome interest from Milan.

Rossi is a lifelong Milan fanatic and declared his love for the club after the match with the U.S. the other day (prompting a couple of stories linking him), but it seems Juventus is far more interested in him (at least publicly).

As for Santacroce, there were stories last month saying he was on Milan's radar and I read something on Goal.com (Ha!!!) the other day that said Santacroce had never hidden his admiration for Milan.

As for "proof," there's no such thing where the European football media is concerned. They're all full of crap. But here's one of the stories from last month:
