Why are we not after Santacroce!?!? We also have Donadoni who surely would help if we are interested. I'm tired of Galliani looking abroad for players and overlooking the corner nearest to us.

it reminds me, how about the 3 non-EU new signing rule? was it passed or not?

I have seen most of Madrid's games this past season and "fantastic" is probably the last word I'd use to describe his season. From a defensive point of view he's been utterly overshadowed by Lassana Diarra (who barring a handful of games has had a brilliant season for Madrid). And as I said before he's not a creative player, I mean he's not a Makelele-type of player since he does occasionally contribute in attack, but more often than not he's just looked out of place, with 'Lass' doing the dirty work and Gago not really making any difference defensively or offensively.

I was never that big a fan of his, but for sure he had/has potential and considering his age he did very well in his first season in Spain. But since then I haven't seen any progress in the way he plays. Therefore I don't think we should splash €15m on him, as he wouldn't give us anything that Flamini, Gattuso or even Ambro can't.

Well, as I say, the only times I've seen him play for Madrid were an occasional Champions League match, but I've read things from a other people who have a higher opinion of his play this past season than you. I do know that he had 9 assists playing as a deep-lying playmaker last season, even though he missed some time with injury and played in only 27 games. So he must have been doing something right!

What's wrong with that? Like it or not, they were among the protagonists in our trophy-winning days of this decade, and their play TODAY won't change that, so there's no point in being so insecure about it.

Paolo stayed for two seasons too many but it won't affect one speck of his history with the club.

To be honest, I really don't think I will be watching Milan for awhile until the Fantastic Four) are completely gone from Milan.(Seedorf, Kalac, Dida, and Kaladze) Hopefully, guys like Favalli, Oddo, and Ambro will take a paycut to play.
For all your kvetching about how you want the "Fantastic Four" out, you have no problem keeping old man Favalli around after ONE good season that followed his regular mediocrity since he signed with us. Nice double standard there.

And keep dreaming if you expect any of those guys to reduce their salaries.

Giuseppe Rossi Is Worth €28 Million & Would Be Happy At AC Milan - Agent
The agent has launched a high price for his client as he invites offers...
22 Jun 2009 15:25:16

Giuseppe Rossi's agent has invited clubs interested in his client to start submitting bids as he sets a price for the Villarreal striker.

The Italian international has been tipped to join a big club this summer, and he has recently been linked with moves to Milan and Juventus. Federico Pastorello claims Rossi would be happy at Milan, but he would be open to other clubs too.

"Rossi is worth between €25-28 million for his age and for the things he has done so far," the agent told GR Parlamento.

"In terms of these margins, there would not be any room to do things differently.

"There is the possibility he could return to Italy, but he is not in any rush to do this. He is fine at Villarreal.

"After Villarreal, he wants to play for a bigger team. He would be happy at Milan because he used to support them when he was young.

"However, he wouldn't mind Real Madrid, Barcelona or Chelsea as it wouldn't make a big difference to him."

Juventus have been keen on the Italian striker, but Pastorello admits there has not been an official discussion with the club.

"Juve are interested in Rossi, but there has not been any talk over him. They tried to insert [David] Trezeguet as part of a deal with Villarreal, but the Spanish side were not keen," concluded the agent

I would've never thought he made 9 assists...I'm actually shocked! I can only remember him setting up one goal last season. Actually, I couldn't believe it, so I checked it myself, and it IS true. For me it would have been less of a surprise if Sergio Ramos had only been booked twice all season .

Still, I don't think he'd be an ideal purchase for us if we'd have to spend the majority of the cash from Pirlo's sale (if he's to be sold, which I still doubt).

If and a big IF we signed Gago , Cissokho ? , a CB + Dzeko I guess id be content it would inject a bit of pace into the squad, thats what we need pace and quality I don't know if these signing would work.

And I certanly don't think that much money would be spent but as was said in an earlier post its only june and the mercato is until the end of august so fingers crossed we make the right signing's.

I'm dubious of the Gago link anyway since it came from the Spanish papers and since from everything I've read Gago is the only one of Madrid's midfielders from last season that they intend to make an effort to keep. But if it is true, it will be interesting to see what sort of price they settle on. If memory serves me correct, they actually paid Boca 18m for him. One of the articles I read said that Madrid wanted 15, but Milan was confident they could get him for 10! (Maybe he has a dental problem? )

I don't know what to think about Pirlo. The whole thing keeps swinging back and forth like a pendulum. I doubt he'll be sold, but can't rule it out since Berlusconi said what he did. And it would probably be the only opportunity Milan will ever have to get some serious bucks for him.

It's weird because I've seen a lot of Madrid this season and I followed their season in general and I found Gago had a pretty average season. The 9 assists are truly surprising but Madrid weren't exactly lacking in attack. It was defense they were weak in.

I've seen bits from his Boca days and even though he was amazing back then, he's completely failed to live up to that. One thing that puzzles me is what kind of a player is he? What role does he play as a midfieder? He clearly can't defend and he's not up to the mark as an attacking option. He was third probably fourth choice midfielder this season for Real. The two Diarras, Sneijder and Guti (till his form dropped) were all picked before and none of these are world class players. It was only after Sneijder and Ma. Diarra suffered serious injuries that he got a chance to play.

Another thing about Gago that bothers me is that he is literally invisible in important games. The two el classico's, the game against Valencia, Sevilla. He was awful in all of them and was completely run over by stronger, more dynamic midfielders. When the going got tough, Gago was nowhere to be seen.

I'm not saying I think he's a failure, he was certainly a bright prospect but he's shown very little of that in Spain.

Some of the prices people have mentioned here are crazy. Dzeko for 30m? Rossi for 25m?.. Remember the days when Torres cost 22m? Seems like such a long time back.
Rossi's agent has said 28m and he's available! What does he want 100,00 euros in wages?

Bunk. If Pato wants to leave it's because he either wants a pay raise or he feels attached to Carlo at the hip.

Ok, on the dida, seedorf thing, I think yes they have done wonders for us in the past, but that doesn't Mean we owe them anything, as a buisness, these players are causing us money and games, and thouugh we do appreciate what they did, we have to look forward. I don't care about dida, as he doesn't cause us games, well he is a reserve, but seedorf plays and though he may make brilliant plays at times, he is slow and prevents any ccounter attacking posibilities.
He needs to go.

I think i'd be very happy if it turned out like that. What i'm trying to say is that the major change should happen next year. This year is a transition.
